Hakeem Nicks listed as doubtful a few weeks ago (1 Viewer)

Hakeem Nicks acknowledged that his troublesome knee "wasn't feeling great" in Sunday's Week 6 win over San Francisco.

Nicks seems to be over his early-season foot injury, but the knee had him "clearly hobbled" at certain points in the game. He caught three balls for 44 yards. "I didn’t expect to come out here and be ‘great great’ in my first game back," Nicks admitted afterwards. "But I know it’ll get better by next week and the week after that. It just takes time." The Giants face the Redskins next.

do not bench your studs.

I dont know how many times it needs to be repeated.

Hmmmm....
Currently have Torrey Smith starting over him.
Yeah, the 4:25 start is problematic with a questionable player.
Unless I hear bad news im starting Nicks, I think both are in for big days but I cant see myself starting either over Roddy White or Stevie Johnson.
I can't see how anyone would be confident that Nicks is in for "a big day."We don't know how healthy he is and the Niners are yielding the second-fewest pass yards per game in the NFL.
Should I hold my breath awaiting your apology?

Nowadays the theory of "never bench your studs" just isn't the high percentage play it used to be! We've seen so many times lately when a player coming off injury, mostly WR's in this case, are used as "decoys" or are just used sparingly (snaps and/or targets) as they try to come back from said injury slowly. I almost put Nicks in over Maclin but luckily this time I didn't make that move. Granted, Maclin's not as bad an option as others had to decide from but you get the point. Anyways, just a thought on that subject........

Apology for what mook? you asked a question, I answered you, I rolled with Nicks as my WR3 over Maclin and Flexed Bradshaw. Wash.Had I started Maclin then I would have benched Bradshaw for Nicks.

I wasn't addressing you, chach. Read it again tomorrow when you're sober.

@JennyVrentas (Giants Beat Writer)

Believe his words were he "didn't feel great" but blocked out the pain. Tough guy. RT @redseadweller: @JennyVrentas hows nicks ?

@JennyVrentas

Canty is indeed practicing. So is Nicks -- his 1st Weds practice all season, if memory serves. A. Brown also back from concussion. #nyg

Excellent news as a Nicks owner and more importantly, a Giants fan. Just as a heads up to people, the Giants are notorious for struggling against the Redskins. I'm not saying that this isn't a good matchup for Nicks, I'm just saying that it might not be as good of a matchup as it would for a non-NFC East team playing the Redskins. Then again, this is a Redskins team that is nothing like any team in the recent future and I'd venture to say that this is the most complete (balanced attack) Giants team that they've had in a while. There's no doubt that both secondaries are subpar, but I think this game will be lower scoring than people think.

I'm a little shocked to see him practicing on a Wednesday, to be honest. I thought they had said that he'd be limited to Thursday practices throughout the season. Hopefully this means that he is feeling close to 100%.

It would be unusual, but it is also possible he will practice today and not the rest of the week to give his knee an extra day of rest before the game. Just have to see if he practices tomorrow.

He was limited today, so most likely just some light activity. Hopefully he'll be a full participant tomorrow, which would be a fantastic sign (if I'm correct, he hasn't had a full practice all season).

Didn't realize 'Skins pass defense was so bad. As posted on BBI:

Game 1: Drew Brees - 24/52, 339yds, 3 TDs, 2 INTs

Game 2: Sam Bradford - 26/35, 310yds, 3 TDs, 1 INTs

Game 3: Andy Dalton - 19/27, 328yds, 3 TDs, 1 INTs

Game 4: Josh Freeman - 24/39, 299yds, 1 TDs, 1 INTs

Game 5: Matt Ryan - 34/52, 345yds, 2 TDs, 1 INTs

Game 6: Christian Ponder - 34/52, 355yds, 2 TDs, 2 INTs

The Washington Redskins are on pace to surrender 5,464 yards (shattering the record of 4,796 set by last year's Packers) and 40 TDs.

I'm not seeing anything about being limited in practice. Giants Beat writerI see it now. Can't argue with it being on the official Giants twitter.

(RotoWire) Nicks (undisclosed) was limited in practice Wednesday, the Giants' official Twitter page reports. Analysis: Nicks return to action in Week 6 after he sat out three weeks with a foot injury, catching three passes for 44 yards. We'll assume at this point that he's resting up for another week of hits against Washington, but Nicks' status should be more clear as the weekend draws closer.

Hakeem Nicks (knee, foot) practiced on Wednesday.

He was officially limited. It's Nicks' first Wednesday practice of the season and a tangible sign that he's feeling real progress with his health. His stock can only rise after a limited outing against the Niners that saw him post a 3/44/0 line. Nicks should be able to push off with more explosion against the Redskins' league-worst secondary this week.

While limited, I take it as a positive sign he practiced today. Hopefully his knee pain is getting better and he will be more explosive this week.

I have Hixon as a Nicks handcuff. Wondering if it would be crazy to roll out both this week.

From Roto:

Hakeem Nicks (knee, foot) practiced again on Thursday.

Owners should be downright giddy. Nicks is putting in back-to-back practices and appears to have finally turned a corner with his health. He'll be almost impossible to sit against the Redskins' No. 32 pass defense Sunday.

A very nice sign.

TWO practices in a row! Woo Hoo! How do I insert that dancing pickle?

I really need him to stay in my lineup.

Excited for the prospect of a healthy Nicks..but i thought there were reports saying he was clearly limited by the knee in the game against SF. I don't know how he goes from that to practicing 3 straight days.

Doesn't matter. We are all starting him. :banned:

Hakeem Nicks (probable, knee) confirmed Friday that he believes he's turning a corner in his recovery.

"It's feeling better," Nicks said of his previously ailing knee. "I feel like starting to practice is a way to break it back in and get it better, so I took that approach this week and got the green light to do it. It's definitely getting better." Nicks should be locked into fantasy lineups against Washington.

Coughlin press conference

Q: How has it been to have Hakeem Nicks out there for three straight days of practice?

A: He’s fought through everything. Everyday he comes back out and he tells me he feels good about it and so he gets probably half the reps. So he’s excited and anxious and hopefully it will be consistent; physically, there will be no setbacks.

Very good news! Wish I wasn't playing him against the Eli owner this week, but I think that this will be his breakout (#2) week. I doubt we'll get a repeat of week 2, but I think he'll be much more involved in the gameplan.

I'm looking forward to having him back in my lineup, hopefully on a weekly basis.

Tine for a bump..

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (foot, knee) said he had a great practice Wednesday, Oct. 24, and he has his burst back. QB Eli Manning agrees with that sentiment. - KFFL
If this is true you can officially welcome your WR1 back.

Excellent news. So far, he was clearly not the same player as in previous years (sure, he's always banged up, but this year he looked like he was running through a wading pool). Given that he wasn't a complete disaster up till now, I think he'll be great down the stretch.

My WR3 (Harvin and Marshall ahead of him), so I'm thrilled with this news.

If I'm not mistaken, this is his first FULL practice of the entire season.

I've recently started to notice that CBS has been providing some pretty good/extensive takes..better than kffl or Roto on many occasions. Thought I'd share their Nicks update.

Hakeem Nicks, WR, NYG

News: After Giants coach Tom Coughlin issued an encouraging report Monday about wide receiver Hakeem Nicks' recovery from lingering foot and knee injuries, it was quarterback Eli Manning's turn to boast Nicks' progress Wednesday. Nicks practiced in full as the team prepares for Week 8 at Dallas. "I saw just a different burst, running differently, so I think hes getting more confident and trusting everything and feeling better, thats always good for us,'' Manning said, per the New York Post. Nicks is also happy with his progress. Im a lot healthier now, especially over the last couple weeks, Nicks said. "I feel like my bodys feeling good again. In two career games at Dallas, Nicks has 17 catches for 271 yards and two touchdowns. :banned: Personally, I like playing in the stadium, Nicks said. I dont know what it is. It just seems like its a big stage to play on. I love big-stage games.

Analysis: Nicks has played the last two games after missing three straight. However, he has just eight catches for 97 yards and no touchdowns since returning Week 6, which is clearly disappointing for Fantasy owners. Nicks was targeted 10 times Sunday against the Redskins, so the Giants are trying to get him heavily involved again. The fact he practiced in full and Manning raved about Nicks is a very good sign heading into Sunday's NFC East showdown with Dallas. Nicks was held to four catches for 38 yards Week 1 vs. Dallas, but he remains a viable Fantasy start.

Great news. But I drafted Cruz, Marshall and AJ Green ahead of him and then Jordy fell to me in the 9th and is playing real well plus Amendola might be coming back so I'll probably just wait a few more weeks for him to break out before maybe trading him for Julio.
