I'm sitting at 4-0 with sufficient depth, so I think I'm going to just sit on him. I've only started him in week one anyway (he was on my bench in the week he blew up), so I've been surviving without him. I may get burned if this ends up being an IR situation, but I think he'll be more valuable to my team's playoff run than the player I could get in a trade.I have the benefit of having Marshall, Nicks, Stevie Johnson, and Hartline, along with Demarco Murray, Lynch, and Mcfadden, and only have to start 2/2 and a flex though. If a team was in a rougher situation, or is currently at 2-2 or worse, I think it's worth it to start shopping him...but I wouldn't give him away.Redraft could be a buy if you are 3-1 with sufficient team strength. Shouldn't take as much to get him now. He could be a difference maker following the Week 11 bye.
If Nicks doesn't play, couldn't Barden do just as well as Hixon?Everyone is always wondering/asking who this year's Victor Cruz is. If Nicks is indeed out for an extended period of time, Hixon could end up being this year's Cruz.
By the looks of Sunday, Hixon is the WR3 on the giants and Barden is the WR4. Barden only did well 2 weeks ago because Nicks AND Hixon were out. If it's just a short term thing, Hixon is the guy to own. If it's IR, then Barden might be worth a stash if you have a deep enough bench to see if he emerges. If Nicks doesn't play, couldn't Barden do just as well as Hixon?Everyone is always wondering/asking who this year's Victor Cruz is. This. I think its Hixon and its really not close. Full disclosure I own Nicks and Barden, but not Hixon.By the looks of Sunday, Hixon is the WR3 on the giants and Barden is the WR4. I don't think he's obviously a sell. I think he's obviously a buy.Redraft he's obviously a sell but as a dynasty owner I'm not concerned at all. My team is WR heavy so I don't need him but I'd much rather he sat out a few weeks and came back healthy.
The injury didn't really come out of nowhere though. This type of injury, where the player injures his opposite leg because of compensation, isn't a rare occurrence.By the way, the fact that he even has a chance to practice Thursday is good news.I can't believe it but I actually handcuffed Hixon in the two leagues I own him in, first time handcuffing a WR.Hixon was targeted 11 times last week (was on the field for 97% of offensive snaps compared to Barden's 63% and now Barden has a concussion) and gets matched up with a Haden-less CLE secondary this Sunday. IMO he's in WR2 territory for this week.I'm getting a bad feeling about this. Nicks just can't stay healthy. The knee injury coming out of nowhere is particularly concerning.
For those that don't care to venture:Jene Bramel @JeneBramelNicks Scenario 1 (more likely): Bone bruise annoyance, not significant. Could limit him for 1-2 wks. Silver lining: Rest also calms foot. Nicks Scenario 2 (less likely): Prolonged swelling evidence of meniscus/cartilage inj, rest doesn't help, surgery necessary, out 2-6 wks.Follow FBG's own Jene Bramel on twitter, I think his breakdown is spot on
pretty sure he injured his knee bc he fell on it. had nothing to do with overcompensation. The injury didn't really come out of nowhere though. A lot of speculation is that the injury is more so due to overcompensation. http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2012/09/ny-giants-hakeem-nicks-ruled-out-for-eagles-gamepretty sure he injured his knee bc he fell on it. had nothing to do with overcompensation. The injury didn't really come out of nowhere though. I'm a Nicks owner and I'm scared a lot.Nicks owners: "I think he'll be fine."Everyone else: "Scares me a bit."
Most fantasy owners I know typically think the worst about their players injuries. It's the non-owners who are the voice of reason, more often than not.I'm a Nicks owner and have said that I think this will be a lingering injury that could cost him the season...but a lot of that is probably just me being a pessimist.Nicks owners: "I think he'll be fine."Everyone else: "Scares me a bit."
I'm curious if you're trying desperately to deal him then.I'm a Nicks owner and I'm scared a lot.Nicks owners: "I think he'll be fine."Everyone else: "Scares me a bit."

No way. I won't get any value out of him. I own Nicks in three leagues. I have picked up Hixon and Barden wherever possible.I'll ride out the storm and hope Hicks comes back healthy in a few weeks. But if I traded him now I'd get nothing for him.I'm curious if you're trying desperately to deal him then.I'm a Nicks owner and I'm scared a lot.Nicks owners: "I think he'll be fine."Everyone else: "Scares me a bit."
I did, but honestly it had more to do with blocking my opponent (who is currently starting Golden Tate and Stephen Hill because of injuries/bye week) from picking him up and starting him against me this week.If Nicks is shut down for the season at some point, Hixon will probably stay on my team as an occasional injury/bye week play.Have you picked up Hixon? Most fantasy owners I know typically think the worst about their players injuries. Trading a risky player for a not-as-good risky player and a solid TE? No thanks.'noneother said:Moved him for Britt and Martelus Bennett (backing up gates) had to do something.....Hankerson and Gordon as my #4/5Bryant and Maclin at 1/2Nicks as troubled me for three years.. Couldn't stomach it.. At least with Britt, I can have déjà vu all over again.. But different.
When Nicks is out, I like Hixon better. How long will Nicks be out? That is the million dollar question.Where does Hixon rate going forward though? Compared to other WR's like Hartline, Britt, etc... that also have the capacity to be special...
I'd much rather have Hixon than Britt. Britt could be an injury scratch all season and the offense is not good. I'd rather have Hartline than Hixon. Hartline is the clear #1 target on his team and Hixon will probably eventually have to deal with Nicks coming back.'babydemon90 said:Where does Hixon rate going forward though? It also depends on the league. In ppr I like Hartline but non-ppr Hixon will have more TD chances.I'd much rather have Hixon than Britt. I have no idea why Hixon would have more TD chances. Hartline has gotten lots of red zone looks so far.It also depends on the league. Hmmmmmm, maybe a much better QB in a passing offense?I have no idea why Hixon would have more TD chances. Hartline has gotten lots of red zone looks so far.It also depends on the league. I think the fact that the Giants also have Cruz and Bennett taking red zone looks would balance those factors out.Hmmmmmm, maybe a much better QB in a passing offense?I have no idea why Hixon would have more TD chances. Lame.Luckily in my dynasty I can just roll with AJ Green and Julio![]()

I wouldn't count on him any time soon. If you are 4-0 or 3-1 you can afford to wait on him but if your team is struggling I would sell.Very scary that Nicks was officially ruled out for Week 5 so early in the week (on Thursday). What does that say about his availability for Week 6? Knee issue sounds severe... or am I just reading into this too much?
Yeah, this is his third straight missed game and it doesn't sound like he was close at all to even practicing really. I think he'll probably miss the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, his body just doesn't seem like it can stay healthy, as one injury leads to another.I wouldn't count on him any time soon. Calm.Although he's been ruled out for Week 5, Hakeem Nicks (knee, foot) jettisoned his stationary bike to participate in the Giants' jog-thru on Friday.Getting the mental reps is a good sign that the swelling is down in Nicks' knee, which should rule out a meniscus or cartilage injury. It now appears that he has a chance to return for Week 6 at San Francisco.
The thing about Nicks is that it seems like he regularly re-aggravates injuries or that a new one pops up just as the old one dies down. If he manages to play week 6, will that just knock him out for a couple more games? It sure seems like that could easily happen.Calm.Although he's been ruled out for Week 5, Hakeem Nicks (knee, foot) jettisoned his stationary bike to participate in the Giants' jog-thru on Friday.Getting the mental reps is a good sign that the swelling is down in Nicks' knee, which should rule out a meniscus or cartilage injury. Next week's practices are important. If he practices next week and doesn't have any setbacks I'd feel good about his prospects week 6 and coming out of it healthy. He has over compensating injuries and the only way they'll improve is rest, good choice holding him out this week. If he has continued setbacks next week though there are more problems and he'll probably need to go under the knife. Don't want to turn this into AC thread, but I'd pass. I only have Smith one spot below Nicks.I wish we knew more. I love his talent, but the injuries are starting to occur way to often for my tastes. Was just offered Nicks for Torrey Smith and D. Moore in a PPR dynasty. I'm torn![]()
I think it deserves to be brought up again, someone mentioned it earlier, that the rest for his knee is also rest for his foot. That bodes well for future playing time as well.Calm.Although he's been ruled out for Week 5, Hakeem Nicks (knee, foot) jettisoned his stationary bike to participate in the Giants' jog-thru on Friday.Getting the mental reps is a good sign that the swelling is down in Nicks' knee, which should rule out a meniscus or cartilage injury.
