Really don't see why an important holiday to many has to turn south from those who don't believe. Why open the thread and turn it into a pissing match?
They have a sad, lonely hole inside of them, and they seek to fill it with tears and sorrow they might be able to elicit from others.
If that doesn't work, they have to resort to jelly beans.
Mmmm...not so much.
I think internet atheists and agnostics are much worse than you'd meet in real life. Just an opinion. I think most of us are pretty cool with faith, or long for it, for the most part.
I also think a large part of it is the mobilization of religion into political PACs since the 70's and Atwater. But it's always weird to see people react so strongly and negatively to those who have faith.
It is weird, and I'm not a "turn the other cheek" sort. I make every effort to NOT impose my faith and beliefs on others. I genuinely believe that, in the end, everyone is accountable for their own decisions.
But if someone's going to just wander into a thread specifically earmarked for Christians and be a #### for no good reason, I'm going to be a #### back.
