Happy Fathers Day! (1 Viewer)

**ALERT**

I received a card from both kids this year.

hope all your dreams come true, fellow dads and children with dad's still around.

Happy Father's Day

Just had breakfast at my son's mom's place. I'm full. I see a nap in my future.

Thanks! And back at ‘ya.

As of this moment none of my three kids have wished me a happy father’s day and they all watched me mow and weedwack in this glorious summer heat.

Buncha wankahs.
My wife is out of town with her sisters, they lost their dad last year. I'm celebrating by cleaning out the garage. I'm sure I will be duly rewarded. The garage got a little cluttered from stuff from the FIL's. My house was the closest so anything nobody wanted but didn't want to throw away got put in my garage. It's been a chore, but I'm over the halfway point. I hope. The shed is next weekend, that's where my Dad's stuff is.

Edit- I'm on break, stopped for lunch and a trip to the hardware store. Found a little chewed hole in the dryer vent hose from a mouse.

My wife: what do you want for Father's Day?

Me: nothing I don't need anything

My wife: come on I wanna buy you something. You never ask for anything

Me: don't buy me sneakers. I already have 2 nice pairs. I don't need more

My wife: ugh well ill buy you some shirts

Me: oh there actually is a specific shirt I want.

Sends link to shirt

Fast forward to fathers day

Didn't get the shirt I asked for but got sneakers

And we get accused of not listening.

My morning was similar.  Cut grass and did some other yard work - no help but I did get a couple “happy Father’s Day” - no gifts.  But now I’m at the Atlanta United match eating ribs, Mac and cheese and drinking beer so it’s been a perfect day.

My older daughter sent me a FD message early this a.m. and then surprised me with an actual phone call.  My younger daughter just graduated from college last weekend and is home with us for 6 weeks until she moves to start her graduate program. It's nice to have one of my kids around on this day. We're at the no-card-or-gift stage for Father's Day now so they'll just be extra nice to me today.

Plan on listening to some music, watch the US Open, watch a movie, practice the guitar (just started lessons this month), grill a nice steak and drink a good bottle of wine tonight. No yard or house work on my agenda today. :)

Hope all you fathers enjoy your days as well.

My 2 daughters live 3,000 miles away in California, so no food gathering this year. My vegan daughter in LA ordered some items from a vegan online retail store: https://gtfoitsvegan.com/. I can't wait. She converted me to veganism over time stating around age 14, when she would come home from her Bengali friend's house after school smelling of their condiments. She made me think about what I'm eating from many POVs. That's a lifetime gift.

I told my daughter in SF that i don't need anything, but if she insists, check out these gourmet hot sauces from one of our own: https://luckydoghotsauce.com/products/red-label-hot-sauce.  They're great.

My gift showed up via Amazon about 3:30 this afternoon. Wife ordered it yesterday apparently.

Kids said Happy Fathers Day when it showed up. On the bright side they are all at my in-laws right now.

:banned:

Great day today.  All three kids called, they sent t-shirts and a hat as gifts.  Granddaughter took us out for dinner tonight to cap a perfect day.

HFD friend (well I guess I’m 21 minutes too late)

it’s a fun gig innit  :hifive:

when we’re old we can look back & laugh about how nuts we were - thinking raising kids in NYC seemed like a good idea

oh wait we do that now
