The new additions, the Revis holdout, REX RYAN. Anybody else find the Jets supremely fascinating (other than Jet fans)? I know that being a former offensive lineman, I would try to crash through a wall for Rex Ryan, that guy gets me fired up. Can't wait for tonight's episode.

Update: Best show so far, Bart Scott is a treasure.

I find it interesting that Tannenbaum hired Mangini AND Ryan. Talk about polar opposites. Not focusing at all on the fringe players.

How many 3-year old kids does Cromartie have?
That was my thought also he must have said atleast four names just for age three and then about 4 more. I know he has a lot of kids but I thought they were more spread out he must have had 4 women pregnant at the same time. As for the show I actually like this season more then the other ones but I hate dallas and really have little respect for the Cincy criminals who get worse humans every year. Ryan is a very funny guy and they seem to show him a lot more then any player this year but when Phiilps and Lewis were the coaches from the other hard knocks I can understand why they showed the players more. I also think Sanchez might be the least funny man in America and he seems a little whinny to me.

I thought it was interesting to see S.Holmes giving advice and being hard on McKnight
I don't think Santonio is a bad guy, and in fact, I thought the Steelers' trading of him was less a reflection on him, but more of a warning shot across Roth's bow. He also lucked out in that he went from one contender to another. Most of the time, guys traded in his situation end up on the bottom 1/3 of the teams in the league. My guess is he wins the Braylon vs. Santonio battle for a contract in 2011 and will be with the team for a while.

Exactly. Watched this with my wife tonight and asked her the following, which is more disturbing:a) The same question you asked. ORb) That he answered "What are the names of your kids?" in a similar way to how you might respond if I asked you "name the last 15 Heisman trophy winners" (hold on, if i think this through, slowly and deliberately, I think I can name them all.....)

I love the way the show is put together, almost like an old NFL film. This show on any other station than HBO wouldn't have the same effect, imo. Look forward to it every year. I would also like to see a college version one day.

Tannenbaum was an acountant who Parcells groomed to work the cap. I think he's a work in progress football wise. With Mangini, they had a relationship and similar personalities. I think Mangini was great at the time and Mangini / Tanny and their staff did a great job assembling a lot of the talent here now - almost every move minus GHOLSTON was pretty good... Then the organization got a little tired of Mangini's laid back / anti-social, media-unfriendly style, which I think Mangini has room to grow with as well. Then Rex was the perfect antidote to take over decent talent that needed a shot in the ####### ######### ###.

No it wasn't. Holmes had been arrested for marijuana possession before and was already facing a legal imbroglio over supposedly throwing a glass at some woman in an Orlando nightclub. The charges he was facing were a bit sketchy though, and I believe he would have survived it, and then he decided to tweet something about "wake and bake" to his followers. An impossibly stupid move. He was shipped out a few days later.I don't think he's a "bad guy" either, but he's clearly a knucklehead and the Steelers don't take kindly to players who promote drug use through social media. They had finally had it with him in terms of his image and that's why they moved him. If Roethlisberger had been arrested for his conduct in GA (or if something like this ever happens again), he'll be out the door too, despite having by far the most leeway on the team. They didn't need to move Santonio to send a message to Ben. Only thing I still can't figure out is how they could only get a 5th round pick for him.

I laughed out loud during the segment about USC-rookie Joe McKnight's struggles.

Bart Scott: "Oh, he's just mad that he had to take a pay cut."

My jaw dropped hearing him name all his kids. I think it was 8 total (only 2 of which he called his daugters) and there were at least 3 3-y-os. That was funny.I watched both episodes last night and loved it, and am not a Jets fan. I think it's great sports documentary making and I thought they did a pretty good job of balancing the fringe guys with the main guys.

I wonder how watching this affects the players. I mean, take for instance the Joe McKnight comment on National TV. That's gotta sting, or even the mind games they were playing with Gholston. Don't you think he's going to be a bit upset after seeing that?

I was pulling for Cromartie bigtime. Just when you thought he might forget the name of one of his kids, he kept pulling through at the last minute everytime, and he nailed them all.

Rex's reaction... I ####'N Hope So!!!!!!!!! ;)

;) I liked Mangini.... I'm not going to grab the stats but, he won some games, had an injury plagued season, was hurt, like many with a Favre collapse/injury... But, other than Gholston he's a good drafter IMO.....

I think the guy has a great eye for talent and at least working with the scouts to draft good football players.... Again, Tannenbaum is an accountant - I think the Jets give the coaches a lot of leeway in drafts.

Not saying much but, I'd take Mangini back, I'd NEVER take Herm Edwards back - Maybe to coach DB's or Quality control. I think Mangini knows his stuff - his weakness is Communication - wether that be with the players, the media or what have you... Jet players admitted his in-class work was incredible - it was Game day and translating that where he needed work....

I love this

The Saints, once widely disparaged as "a finesse team, " are now the Purple People Beaters?

Somewhere Gregg Williams is smiling.

The Saints don't meet the Vikings for another three weeks, and his defense is already between their helmet horns.

In case you missed it amid Favre-apalooza, Vikings Coach Brad Childress and two of his players -- running back Adrian Peterson and defensive end Jared Allen -- accused the Saints of crossing the line with their hits on quarterback Brett Favre during the NFC championship game in January.

always loved Hard Knocks, and so far this season is great. wasn't a big fan of Mark Sanchez before, but his sense of humor is winning me over. some of my favorite moments from last night were Sanchez imitating Lance Laury's walk, the innuendo that he would hit on Brunell's daughter, and Kris Jenkins driving the golf cart in slow motion.

Rex Ryan is fun to watch also, always trying to sneak snacks. :moneybag:

As a Kentucky fan, I love seeing John "The Terminator" Conner grabbing air time. He's going to blow up opposing linebackers for a long time.

As for Cromartie and his kids, I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head when he started talking about all his kids. According to Wikipedia, he's only 26 and has at least 7 kids with 6 different women in 5 states...WOW!

Shake Weight stole the show...
I thought the same thing, I couldn't see which player was doing it, but HBO panned the camera away pretty quick when someone was, uh, imitating a certain manly past time. Classic.Plus being an FSU fan, it pains me to know we let guys like Cromartie through the school's doors. Travis Henry #2.

The only problem I have is after having Ryan and the Jets do it next year how do you top that they only other coach I would like to see is Singletary but I'm not sure the 49ers have the characters the Jets do even Brian Shott is a pretty funny guy. I'm an Eagles fan but I think if they did a hard knocks it would be boring as hell.

Did it strike anyone else as odd that Cromartie didn't even know all of his kids' names. He actually had to think about it.

I love the show, but for some reason this season isn't grabbing me as much as previous seasons. I'm not sure what it is, but it might be that in previous seasons it felt like they followed some of the younger guys a bit more, and we got to see their struggles trying to make the team. And when they got cut, or made it, it was pretty cool to see. This year they don't seem to be really focusing on guys making the team. It seems to be more of a publicity thing for the coach and the stars.

I still love it. It just doesn't quite pull on my emotional strings like previous seasons have.

It doesn't matter what team they have. It's always interesting. I thought when they chose the Bengals last year they couldn't have chosen a worse team and that season may have been the best one.

They kind of got unlucky in that the 2 rookies they were focusing on got cut almost instantly. They were doing sitdowns with Basped even before camp started I think.

Hard Knocks is Hard Knocks, so I automatically like it, but I find it a little hard to listen to a guy that declared his team dead last year ("We're obviously out of the playoffs, and that's unfortunate" after a week 15 loss to the Falcons) all of a sudden being super confident in a SB championship ("I've got confidence to put it up there''.... "I don't have to just put, 'Go, so-and-so.' Yeah, whatever. To me, I believe we'll do it, so why wouldn't we say it? Why wouldn't we go for it?'') Oh, and Jason Taylor going from "Jets fans take the 'cl' out of class." to "I'm proud to be where I am now and look forward to creating some havoc for the Jets and winning some ballgames and winning some fans over here." That's all.
