Harvard study - get paid to watch football in your own home! Legit (1 Viewer)

single individuals don't have median incomes - that stat only really applies to populations - boom. haha jk, they should just give me my phd now.

Well I teach economics, so fire away... ;-)Also, I'll PM you my Harvard email and you can go ahead and google/facebook stalk me :-P

I've got an idea...You're taking classes at Harvard? Rip off a few courses you've recently taken and I'll give you some questions that you should be able to answer at a Harvard level. Pass the test, then we'll talk.
An economics teacher? I have one simple question then: what do you think the median income of a person needs to be below for them to chase $5?

Sorry I haven't PMed yet. I've spent the last few hours dreaming of all the ways I'd spend my new found riches. I've been asking all my friends, "What would you do if all of a sudden you had five dollars?" It is a question that has led to some very deep discussion.
A Subway footlong should have been the first answer

also, I should point out that you aren't paid $5 for this... you are paid a MINIMUM of $5 per survey, and you do a few in the study. The average person should make around $40-50 in the study overall.

Bad answer. I'm bored. Time to go find something better to do with my boredom while I wait for my wife to get ready to go out.

bahaha lowell is just off mt auburn, across from boloco i believe :Palso, really? are we doing this? hahaha you guys are evil - didn't I already PM you my Harvard email...?

lowell located on the corner of what 2 streets?question #1
If you meant the corner of oxford and kirkland, then ya...

Haha, you're not the only one who is bored... though this is surprisingly entertaining!

I always thought Harvard guys were super smart. SPB isn't coming across that way.

Maybe that makes it more legit?

No argument here. Though I'm curious what in my posts is so not-smart? Perhaps you can be my football forum sensei.

By email, early next week, I believe. Need to double check with my collaborators on that. Study will likely start with the Week 16 games, and into the playoffs for some folks.

Filled out survey...when do we find out if we are chosen?

Nothing in particular. It's just that "Harvard guy" isn't the first thing that pops into my mind when I read your posts.

Definitely - any tips for being less annoying about that? I admittedly suck at forum-ing.

If I do this thing, will you promise to cease that annoying top-posting?
The fact that you haven't picked up that everyone else posts replies below what they're replying to is disconcerting.

So if it starts in week 16, then fans of non playoff teams will only have 2 games to watch, correct? I thought you said at least 3 games, so are fans of playoff teams the only eligible ones for the study?

Browns fans, and submitted my info, for what it's worth.

nope i *think* we will be doing two weeks instead of three. we didn't have quite a large enough sample to get us up and running for this week, unfortunately. but we should be good to go for next week and you'll hear from us shortly about whether you're in our sample! thanks for signing up!

I have no qualms that this study is legit. Without going into obvious details about the aims of this research, is it at all concerning to you that (a) we are heading into the final few weeks of the season when "typical" viewing behaviors change due to holidays, travel, being in or out of fantasy playoffs, etc. Don't know about others, but Weeks 1-14 are often different than in weeks 15-17; (b) also, I prefer Red Zone channel over single games that don't involve my team or my wife's team. Is this an exclusion criterion in your study?

All good points - suffice to say that the timing is not perfect, but we are treating it as a bit of a methodological dry run, so to speak. On the Red Zone point, its a tough call (I prefer it myself as well), so we are going to see what the data looks like on that.

Hey everyone - just bumping this up because we are making our last recruitment pitch to get signups in the next 24 hours... sign up soon so we can get you into the study for this coming week if you qualify!

Folks who have signed up already - you should hear from us by email on Wednesday with further instructions. Thanks!

What? Why? Who would do such a thing? Does the telemarketing service require this? How does one set up a computer to default to the top? Does it make you write your term papers backwards? I will PP you $5 for good answers to these questions. Please make sure your answers start from the bottom.

Can't believe more people aren't jumping at this amazing opportunity. This is BIG MONEY folks. A rare chance to turn things around.

Ill do it for 62.50 per survey. It's worth it.... My answers are THAT good.
BUMP. I've re-run my numbers and I can do this for 59.39/survey thanks to engineering some efficiencies into the process....Namely running multiple TVs in the same room and having requested to participate via your program with 4 different email addresses (and counting).

Is this just an elaborate ploy to collect email addresses of people who love football so they can be marketed to directly?

Answer honestly.

Sample Survey:

Did your team win or lose?

Did that make you happy or sad?

Are you sad about the size of your manhood?

Do you think your team would be better with a new head coach?

Do you think you would be happier with a degree from a prestigious online institution?

Is Tom Brady the best?

Do you love football?

On what dates will you and your family not be home in the next three months?

Thanks for participating!

Rather than respond to all the extremely witty banter, I will just say that we will be paying an absolute bare minimum of $5 per survey, but the average participant will make comfortably more, and the surveys take a few minutes max.

In any event, sign up if you'd like, and feel free to PM me if you are concerned about the legitimacy, and I'll gladly share my academic email address which you can email for verification. We are not sharing your contact or email information with anyone - Harvard's Committee on Human Subjects Research can confirm this with you as a precondition for our even being allowed to run this study in the first place. If you are selected to participate and are worried, you can contact them by phone or email - we provide that contact info in full in the consent form that we will send to those who qualify for the study sometime tomorrow.

Signups end shortly (tomorrow AM) so this is your last chance to make some of the easiest money of your life :P

Thanks everyone for being patient with me and my terrible forum skills - and for teasing me only gently for being a nerd.
