Am I the only one who wonders what the athletes think about playing? Trout came out the other day and didn't sound at all like he wanted to play anytime soon. Now Miller tested positive. Trust me, I want sports. And it's great seeing Trump and others talk about sports. But the athletes are no different than us going to our job. Why are we so confident they are all willing and wanting to get back to playing? 

And if one of these athletes die, we can probably forget about sports until a vaccine is produced.

There have been comments that some players don't want to leave their families during the pandemic and want to be there at home for/with them.  I can see that and wonder how that should be included in the decisions.  I would guess it's completely dismissed.

Not any more than for any other employee. The big difference here is many athletes probably aren't struggling to make ends meet while unemployed / furloughed.

Of course its true. They may get fined, but no one can make them go.

Umm, that may be true for some of the stars/guys with the bigger contracts who have already gotten "paid", but there's a lot more players than just those guys. Problem is that the stars are the leagues so if Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Lamar Jackson, Aaron Donald and Julio Jones decide they aren't playing then we don't have an NFL.

If I had 100 million banked already I would want the whole season cancelled. If you don`t need the $$$$ why would you want to play?  If some younger players need a paycheck they might think different.

Rookies and late round picks on their first contract sure.

Otherwise? NFL league minimum was over $400k last year. Baseball was over $500k. (Obviously I'm not including minor league players). I get that many of these guys aren't the brightest with their money but that salary still provides more options than the average Joe.

This is my point. Most conversations involving sports is that as soon as they are allowed, we will have baseball, etc. back. But I don't see it so cut and dry.

The athletes are going to be the ones playing.

The first question is whether Payne is the only one wondering what the athletes want. While I can't answer that specific question, I can say that I currently am not wondering about what they want. 

I think da guru's point is sound. If the person is a multi millionaire, they probably don't want to have the additional risk to their health.

im sure they want to play and get paid 
but they didn't sign up to be locked away from families and friends for months 
im pretty certain that refs , staff members , tv personal , medical personal , kitchen staff … the list goes on that don't want to sequestered so games can be played and the organizations don't have to pay back their tv contracts 

everyone that is part of the game day would have to be in a bubble and have no outside contact . the SI article laid it out
