has anyone tried a new trans-gender bathroom yet? (1 Viewer)

Isn't this just a unisex bathroom?  Pretty sure those have been around since the Jim Crow laws were overturned.

Are there all kinds of shelves and levers and valves? I assume that's the case but maybe I'm off base here.

I'm taking a class at the community college this summer, and on the first day we all made our introductions. It's a small class of less than 10 people, and during their introduction one person identified themselves as transgendered. It was the first time I'd met anyone who had said that, and it was literally the first time I'd really given it any thought. The idea kind of "clicked" with me for the first time. After class was over I empathized with the idea that it's really a thing.

Anyway, I don't understand the point of your thread, as it doesn't make sense that a transgendered restroom is something that should be "tried out," or whatever. To me it just seems like a public place you can go take a piss if you need to.

Personally, I'm wondering why they felt to need to bring that up in this situation. Seems extremely odd to me. Nothing more than a "look at me, I'm a special little snowflake" moment.

I can see your point of view. But it was the first day of class, during introductions, and the person's given name didn't match what they wanted to go by. The two different names were typical of the opposite gender so that's how they explained it.

Okay, putting it in that context, it makes a little more sense.

first thing I say to new people- "hello, I'm straight"
Being transgendered has nothing to do with sexual orientation, but I agree with you in that I do not think it would have been appropriate to discuss any of our sexual orientations during class introductions.

I know a young man who was raised a girl until he tried cutting himself multiple times which led to him getting counseling where he was able to unburden himself from the hiding he'd been doing all his life.  Good kid, about 17, good student, friendly and sociable, has two other sibs.  Mom, dad and extended family very supportive except for one grandma.  That grandma is now confused herself and doesn't know how to handle the situation.  Hopefully time will help things make sense.  First hand experience was enlightening for me, my wife and our son.

So its like a police cruiser?

Took one for a test drive: Decent acceleration, handles well, reasonably fuel efficient. Cabin space was a bit cramped; I could definitely have used a bit more leg room, but head room was sufficient. GPS seemed like a needless extra. This model came with on-board wi-fi, which was nice. Cup-holder placement was a bit awkward. Voice-controlled audio system was crisp and the bass stayed true at loud volumes. I don't think there would have been ample enough room in the back seat for the kids, but my wife found the passenger seat pleasant enough. My biggest complaint would probably be the road noise. Overall it was an enjoyable experience, and I found I had a bit more spring in my step upon exiting.
