Haslett puts Bulger back in charge (1 Viewer)

Yes, it means that Bulger will get sacked and hurt instead of Green getting sacked and suffering a concussion. :)

LOL. As a HOlt owner I'm happy to have Linehan gone and Bulger reinstated. Its not a pretty situation, but seasons can take sharp turns, and this potentially could be one of them, especially if Linehan was undermining Holt/Bulger and the tension was distracting the team from doing what they are supposed to do from week to week. I have to assume Haslett will bring a postiive influence, I liked him in NOR and think players respond to him because he is a "no BS" type guy. (maybe some NOR local would correct me on that, but its my impression)

As well all know, Bulger wasn't playing well although a large part of that could definitely be attributed to the offensive line.

The important thing here is that the team, and especially team leaders such as Holt, were angered and mystified by Bulger's benching. Haslett is a questionable head coach but a great motivated and this should motivate the team to prove Lineman wrong and rally around Bulger. Good move.

I always thought Haslett was better than he got credit for. He had some seriously bad mojo working around him with Katrina, possible selling of the team, or maybe moving to San Antonio or LA. He might be just the ticket if the FO isn't completely screwed up.

“I think Marc’s a heck of a football player,’’ Haslett said. “I think he’s one of the top quarterbacks that’s played. If you look at his numbers over the years he’s in the upper echelon of quarterbacks. But, that’s something that I’ll sit down with the offensive staff and then we’ll decide what’s best for this team, for next week and the future.”
You'll be hearing that about a lot of players over the next few months, Rams fans.

I agree, and he was Coach of the Year in his first season. And that was without Brees in New Orleans.

???

do some of you have short memories or what? Haslett was a joke as a head coach. didn't we have a poll around here of who the worst head coach was at the time and haslett ranked way up there.

He's been a heck of a defensive coordinator for the Rams. I don't see why we shouldn't predict an equally successful performance as HC.I particularly liked it a couple weeks ago when Marshall Faulk said the Rams' defense was so bad that it looked like Haslett was throwing games.

I'm not sure that circumstances aren't partly to blame there. I mean, if Linehan were that bad of a HC, it would trickle down right? I thought he did a decent job in NO under the circumsances. :bag:

He didn't quite go that far. He came just short of saying that. Then again he said that at his age and with bad knees he was pretty sure he could get 100 on the ground and in the air and two scores...

Is it possible that Linehan was liked by exactly nobody in the lockerroom? Even the coaches? Is it too much of a stretch to think that maybe they will play better under Haslett? I suppose only time will tell but they certainly can't get any worse.

He was saying it tounge-in-cheek, but he did say it.
“I like Jim. I’ve always thought highly of him. And I don’t know, maybe he’s upset of the old Rams-Saints days and he’s throwing games or whatever. Some of the things I saw happening out there the other day, I wonder when he sat in his office yesterday morning, what was his mindset? Was he thinking, ‘I need to change it up.’ Was he thinking, ‘my players screwed it up.’ Or was he thinking that he messed it up. Because one of the three things happened, or needs to happen.”

I'm not real interested in how good of a coach Haslett is and actually think the fact that he is so bad with the D might actually help Bulger's fantasy production for the rest of the year. There still going to be behind in alot of games and eventually if the offense finds its rythm he can be a productive QB. For Brady owners still pulling the Huards and Frerrotes off the scrap heap he's a good option.

now there's somebody who's using their head.

There's a reason Haslett is called Hasliar.
And that reason is...that he lies? Anything specific to add to the conversation?
FWIW, when I did my freelance article about injuries in 2005, Haslett and Jeff Fisher were the only two coaches to list every player as Questionable. And only 28% of the Saints players ended up playing, which is really Doubtful territory. Small sample, but he certainly seemed to like playing games with the injury report.

Ah yes, that jogged my memory. I had Deuce that year and in that league I could only IR him if he was listed as doubtfull or out in the Friday injury report. Of course everyhere he was noted as being out EXCEPT for the Saints injury report. He was always listed as questionable. I mean for 4-5 weeks Haslett did that. Was I pissed.

People rail on Fisher for that too, but the difference is that his Questionable guys played 73% of the time in 2005, which is practically Probable. 28% is just ridiculous. Just something to keep in mind the rest of the way with Rams players.

Haslett said tonight on an ESPN clip that he plans on getting Holt the ball more early. Anyone have a link to whole thing?

dunno. the Fanball writers always called him Hasliar, I think, because he doesn't talk about injuries. Haslett didn't do as good a job as Belichick of covering this up.

Yes, it is.How good a HC will Haslett be? How good a HC was he at NO and how good a DC has he been at SL?

Was it BS to bench Bulger? Yes.

But did Green do any worse than Bulger? Not really. He's been getting BU snaps all season up until this past week and was close to Bulger's season completion percentage and QB rating in his first game.
