Have we ever seen a list of free agents at WR like this? (1 Viewer)

Manningham to the Bucs speculation.

(Rotoworld) Sources tell CBS' Clark Judge there is "virtually no chance" free agent Mario Manningham re-signs with the Giants, and that he is "expected" to sign with the Bucs.Analysis: Profootballtalk.com reported on Friday Manningham was set to hit the open market, but this is the first we've heard of the Bucs as a potential destination. Manningham is said to prefer warm-weather cities, and would be reuniting with former Giants QBs coach Mike Sullivan in Tampa, who was recently named the Bucs' offensive coordinator. GM Jerry Reese hinted Saturday the Giants would look in-house for a replacement if Manningham walks in free agency.

Manningham prefers warm-weather cities yet decided to go to Michigan

The dude got a 6 on his Wonderlic.

Teams in need of a WR will have LOTS to choose from and there may be some very weird dealings due to the quality and quantity at WR this year. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this:

Wes Welker

Vincent Jackson

Dwayne Bowe

Marques Colston

DeSean Jackson

Brandon Lloyd

Steve Johnson

Mario Manningham

Reggie Wayne

Plaxico Burress

Robert Meachem

Pierre Garcon

Steve Smith

And there are many more that would otherwise be worthy of mention that are gonna be after thoughts.

Which of these guys will be the most sought after?
I say welker, vjax, Bowe, colston, djax, Steve Johnson, garçon all stay put, which dampens the enthusiasm quite a bit. And Lloyd to NE makes too much sense, which honestly probably means it won't happen.
Obviously this doesn't mean that it's a sure thing but:
NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora doesn't see "any way" free agent Vincent Jackson returns to the Chargers.

The Union-Tribune San Diego has reported the Chargers don't plan to use the franchise tag on V-Jax. The sides are open to a long-term deal, but Jackson is set to break the bank on the open market. "There's too many teams in need of a wide receiver," explained LaCanfora. "Somebody's going to give him big bucks." LaCanfora lists the 49ers, Rams, and Bucs as three potential landing spots.
Yeah it was funny to wake up today and see that report
LaConfora on Saturday stated SD would be keeping Jackson. He said that Jackson felt SD would use the franchise tag to keep him.

one crazy thing would be if they all went dwade and king james and took less money to all sign with the same team it would be bascially an unstoppable force of mass destruction and they could line up six number one wide receivers and there is no way anyone would ever be able to stop it they would probably score just about every two or three plays unreal i dont even like to think about it take it to the bank brohans
11 Offensive players - 6 WR's - 5 O-linemen - 1 QB = 5 yard penalty everytime! (unless the 6 wideouts take turns playing QB in a modified "Wildcat" renamed, of course, the "Brohans" formation)

resign vs re-sign : Common Errors in English

« Back to Common Errors

About resign vs re-sign

Athletes who renew their contracts re-sign with their teams (note the hyphen). If they were to resign they would do the opposite—leave.

resign Meaning(s)

(v) leave (a job, post, or position) voluntarily

(v) give up or retire from a position

(v) part with a possession or right

(v) accept as inevitable

Thank you for this. Irks me to no end when otherwise intelligent people basically post the complete opposite of what they mean with this. A hyphen is important.

Garcon reportedly turned down Colts' initial offer of 5 years for $35m.
Am I the only guy who thinks Garcon was crazy? I can't imagine anyone offering him more than that. In fact, I wouldn't offer him 15 million. To me, he is an average WR; certainly not a difference maker.

YupETA: As a Steeler homer, I think paying Wallace 7M would be a little high. Garcon?! Oof.

The list looks a LOT less impressive when you consider that most of them will be staying with their current teams.

Sorry for the tangent, but Heath Miller is 6.6M against the cap and the most explosive player on the team is not worth 7M? :coffee:

Heath is way overpaid, no disagreement there.

The list of quality free agent WR's is pretty good. If the 49ers don't persue and land one of these guys I think that'd be a big mistake on their part. Granted Alex Smith is no stud QB but Crabtree isn't the stud WR some thought he might be. If the Niners expect to go deep in the playoffs,if they even make it,in 2012 they're going to have to have someone better than Crabtree to help them.I'd like to see them get Bowe off this list. Don't want Desean Jackson and his attitude even if Harbaugh thinks he can change it, I think he'd eventually cause problems. Manningham most likely will leave NY with the emergence of Victor Cruz so he could be a possibility. Wayne & Burress are at the end so I'd shy away from them. Welker,Colston will probably resign with their current teams. So as was said V Jackson and Bowe should be the 2 most sought after FA's this offseason.
our past signings show it will be either Wayne or Buress
oh no it was worse than i thought :bag:

i love the name because i love to give things nicknames and it is my super power doing that but i here you about 6 wrs it could be just 5 but you oculd have one report as eligible and start on the line and totally fake out a defensive coordinator by dropping out of a line to run a quick post pattern for a 70 yd td and taking to the house baby take that to the bank and keep on keeping on brohack from hackensack that is your new nickname
