Have you ever purchased an item after seeing it on an infomercial? (1 Viewer)

Never have, but about to for the first time - Copper Chef, and the deal just kept getting sweeter as the infomercial went along :excited:

Ever make an infomercial purchase? Happy with it or piece of garbage?

Nobody falls for those stupid commercials.  Well except for the pocket fisherman was a must.  OK, oxy clean was good.  And the George Forman grill.  Gotta have the slap chop.  But other than those, who would be that stupid.

I bought one of those pocket water hoses or whatever.  Sure it was easier to store than a regular garden hose, but if you left it out in the sun for any time, it would just crack apart and the fittings were really cheap.

Yesh that was 14.99 well spent and getting a second one for free was even better. Twice the amount of crap for one low price is not a good deal.

I had to go to infomercial rehab a few years ago. I have flex seal, shark vacuum, shamwows for life, tater mitts, hanger cascader, pasta boat, slap chop, ginsu knives, and 3 snuggies just to name a few.

I bought a graphite driver off a infomercial on TGC. Late 90s.

It's now in a lake (pond) at TPC Dearborn.

My wife got the My Pillow. She loves it, I hate it. I bought some stuff to clean up foggy headlights on a car and it worked great.

The only thing I can remember buying was my first pair of WalkFit orthotics (something like 15-20 years ago?).

They worked really well for me and I've ordered a few more pairs since after they showed up in stores and online.

I don't think I ever used the awesome peppermint foot spray that they threw in for free, though.

Copper Chef is garbage and the pan you get is smaller than the one in the commercial. Terrible reviews. I get sucked in though when they flambe the heck out of the Bananas Foster though.

who doesn't have a shamwow?
:hey:

Have a hatred for marketing and their obvious tactics...but wait there's more!  I also hate that they are usually selling a Chinese product that they slapped a brand name onto to fool the American public.

Many years ago, bought the David Leadbetter laser gizmo that is supposed to promote a good swing plane. Never used it more than a couple times and rarely play golf these days, but the concept still sounds solid to me.

Yes, but I buy the stuff at a store where I can see what I'm buying, not give out my credit info, and not wait 2-8 weeks for it to show up at my door.

Oh man,  is that the real estate guy,  buy real estate without using your own money?

I did order this back in the mid 90's.  3 payments of 29.95 or something. Got like 10 videotapes.  I called the number to get my money back and they were like "how about you pay one more installment,  then decide if you want to keep it?"

"No,  just give me my money back,  please.  And don't charge me for the additional payments. "

"Are you sure? It's a great tool to gain personal wealth."

"No,  just give me my money back and I'll return the material. "

" ok,  we will refund your money,  but please feel free to keep the instructional videos."

They didn't want to process a return,  so I got the whole course for free.

It was useless.

My brother bought the Banjo Minnow set. I go fishing with him for a week every year and I've never seen him use it.

Was it true? Did you love Vince's nuts?

Nothing for myself but I would by the newest tools for my FiL for Christmas every year. Ratcheting screwdrivers, wrenches, dremels and stuff like that. Unfortunately he's gotten kind of old now and doesn't tinker around like he used to. :(

I might get one of those outdoor motion detecting LED lights though. I could use it in my yard.

I bought the chillow, it kinda suxored.

And don't forget "Stomp, Stomp, Stomp....Stompies.  They are slippers that would do tricks when you stepped.

We also got some glow light tool, invisible ink pen, and a pillow that was also a sports mascot bear.

Yeah, we probably bought a bunch of other crap I'm forgetting.

Not from the infomercials themselves, but I have a Snuggie, which I love. (I got it at Kohl's.) I also bought a Pasta Boat on clearance at Meijer a couple years ago, and I like that. Oh, and I got a Turbie Twist in a gift exchange a while back.

Nothing beats the Broccoli Wad
Gotta get myself one of them. Well, apparently, four (with separate S&H for each one, of course).

I like the idea of getting four though. I like to carry a different wad of cash wherever I'm going. To a bar or out with the mistress, the big wad. Out to eat in a shady part of town, a little wad. I also like to keep a 2nd wad on hand to more conveniently let a buddy borrow cash or give a lady money. You don't want to whip out the big wad, as they'll want it all. I like to keep one rack separate on my person for those occasions. Much cheaper in the long run.

Thanks for the link. Perfect to have a big wad, little wad, one rack borrow wad, and a backup wad to keep in the car when you get robbed. Or rather, rabed.

Or alternatively, just keep a rack in each wad. It makes the Sunday morning accounting much easier. Three empty wads means last nigh was a three rack night. No need to count what's in the 4th. We all know you just round to the nearest rack.

A couple:

1.  The indoor turkey deep fryer.  Use it for more for shrimp boils, but does a fantastic job on turkey as well.  Get the XL one. http://www.cabelas.com/product/BUTTERBALL-LB-ELECTRIC-FRYER/2397904.uts?productVariantId=4923237&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04638795&rid=20&gclid=CM-wyteLus8CFUFrfgodeucDGg&gclsrc=aw.ds

2.  Oh, and https://www.realdoll.com/ lots of great add on features.

1. I have a buddy that has this and he has made some tasty fried turkey with it
