HBO - Song of Ice&Fire Series -Varsity Thread - no TV only whiners (2 Viewers)

I think they missed an opportunity there as a show. A 30 second scene from Ghost's POV to Jon waking up and saying "what a weird dream" would've made him warging into Ghost a lot more believable.

If two of those pics (depicting the same scene) are true, the second of them alludes to something the show has really given short-shrift to. Especially with that character. I'm wondering how they're gonna sell it.
Yep, there has been no hint of that at all, so I think it will seem to come out of left field.
No hint with him, but they always focus on that area ....
Focus on what area?Dammit, its annoying trying to talk around stuff...
Yeah. I know this is the varsity thread, but I didn't want to specify things that haven't been shown yet. I'm seconding your question anyway, KP. I must have missed something on the show.
I think he means the eyes, and how the irises/pupils go white when people have warged into other things in the show. It looks like we're getting a Wrath of Khan ending here. Not sure who's tougher to deal with - Ghost or Bones
Gotcha

I think people will know that is what it is if his eyes go white, but (sorry to talk about story and all) I think it would be a bit out of left field since there is no mention of others in the family or given a hint of this in Jon. I would assume he wargs into Ghost, but hell, Ghost is hardly with him anymore.
Didnt Jon warg before on the show?

Don't think so. Maybe was there a dream sequence when he got to the wall?

I don't think so. There are only two times (that I can recall offhand) where Jon connects with Ghost:

1) When he is with Qhorin Halfhand tracking the wildlings (the show screwed up this whole sequence because he got captured dealing with Ygritte rather than letting her go)

2) When Ghost is returning to Castle Black after Jon had split up from him because he had to climb The Wall.

Neither of these instances were in the show (that I can recall). Now, if they are going to show Jon warging in this episode I would hope they would show Arya doing at well earlier in the show (assuming Jon's death is the final scene of the season). Arya routinely has wolf dreams but also sees through the eyes of a cat.

Arya does not show signs of warging until she is blind, right?

If they wanted people talking about it until next season, they should have just gone with the Soprano's ending - screen fades to black, credits roll.

It's another tip off that Jon is likely a Stark (Lyanna's son), maybe Targaryean (or both) - though they haven't really given evidence of Targaryeans warging in the show (or the books?). I suppose he could be the son of some random north/wildling woman too - that would be out of left field.

IIRC, she has the dreams thru Nymeria's eyes pretty frequently. Most obvious one I can remember is in Storm of Swords when Nymeria is pulling her mother's body out of the river.

They'll be talking about this ending until next season regardless.

I would like to see them showing Ollie move in to kill John, but one of the other brothers beats him to the punch.

I agree that having Ollie do it is clumsy and telegraphed, but in fairness it may seem that way because we know what is coming.

Right, she dreams through Nymeria quite a bit.

1) When she escapes Harrenhal she dreams Nymeria killing her pursuers.

2) Pulling Cat out the river.

3) In Braavos I know she dreams of Nymeria a few times - but I don't recall if she is blind at the time.

Anyone think Jon is Ned and Ashara Dayne's son? The Jon as Rhaegar and Lyanna's son thing seems too obvious at this point.

So what do we think, Jon wargs into ghost or some other animal or communes with Bran in some way. Has an epiphany while out of body and the red witch breathes life back into him? He then returns enlightened and his men follow him as a demigod?

Makes sense for the book but how do we get there in the show? Red witch is in the middle of nowhere and Davos is en route to the wall.

Some interesting theories out there about Lady Stoneheart making an appearance on Sunday. I don't buy it but it would throw the non book readers for a loop, especially if Arya goes blind and Jon dies. That's a whole lot to take in

I think if they show Jon starting to warg, it will be easier to digest than what I assume the books left it at.

It's still a lot of "WTF" for the average viewer. As bad as the TV only thread is, most people are dumber.

Good for you. Me too

I know I've asked this before...but it is everyone 100% of the opinion that Jon actually died when he's stabbed?
 I always assumed he didn't die...or at least that he was still going to be around in some form...when Martin wants to kill someone, he kills someone.
Except when he doesn't. (Catlyn)
Interestingly, I think I saw a recent interview with Martin where he said Lady Stoneheart was not Caitlyn.

ETA:

Martin’s explanation initially sounds like an argument against including Lady Stoneheart, but Martin then noted: “Lady Stoneheart is not Cateyln. I’ve tried to set it up beforehand with Beric Dondarrion and his repeated [resurrections]. There’s a brief appearance by Beric in Book One and he rides into the city and he’s this flamboyant Southern knight. That’s not that man we meet later on.”

Isn't that nothing more than a "war changes a man" styled situation? He's not saying that Stoneheart (at least the body) isn't Cat...is he?

So, is there ANYTHING in the books ahead of the show now? Kevan Lannister killed, but they seemed to have skipped that whole scenario, along with all the Riverlands stuff. So, fluff here and there, but other then that, they're caught up.

There was some scuttlebutt that the casting descriptions for next year involved The Riverlands. So maybe they're going with more of that next year.
