HBO - Song of Ice&Fire Series -Varsity Thread - no TV only whiners (2 Viewers)

Didn't see this latest episode until last night, but couldn't help but wonder what all the whining re. the Harpies and Dany's troops was about (mostly in the TV only thread). Most of the ones it showed getting killed were surrounded, hopelessly outnumbered and typically killed from behind as they took out someone in front of them. Given space and the ability to work together on the pit floor, they were more than holding their own, although in a very obviously losing situation before the dragon showed up.
Yup. Plus, for some reason they keep insisting on carrying those long ### spears in crowded areas. Here's a tip, Khalisi....outfit your men with daggers or short swords when they're on patrol in the city......they'll be able to fight in tighter spots more efficiently.

Maybe Jon is Night's King?
What are you guys talking about? I thought the Night King thing happened centuries ago?
Correct. And apparently GRRM has confirmed that the Night's King of that story would have died long long long ago and that regardless of whether that is how the show refers to the white walker leader, that is not the same guy from Brandon the builder's time. I have no link though but I read that somewhere this week.
So how the #### would Stannis or Jon be the Night's King?
Exactly.

They are not the most intellectual in there.

If that little #### stabs Snow that would be some of the worst TV in history. They've made that way too obvious.
yeah ungood, although when the wildlings came through the wall, a lot of them gave Jon the stink eye, not just Olly. Im guessing it more than just him doing it.

wondering how the show/book will handle the resurrection of Jon . Thoros? Red Woman? Warg? WHITE WALKER? GRRM was very critical of LOTR and bringing Gandalf back.

Although lots of foreshadowing with that mother wildling that turned into a wight. Maybe Jon falls in love with her and repeats the Night's King story.

Why again do people think Stannis isn't Azor? There is evidence either way right? Seems like the curveball now would be for him to be the real item.

So did Azor Ahai, but you probably think those theories are ridiculous too, right?
 Melisandre refers to Stannis as Azor Ahai in the books.
Right, Azor Ahai "reborn"

Just like Jon could be the Night's King "reborn".

Or Mel could be wrong and have it backwards.

Re-reading, had a little chuckle at this part in Storm of Swords.

"My great-aunt is a septa at the motherhouse in Oldtown," Lady Smallwood said as the women laced the gown up Arya's back. "I sent my dauhgter there when the war began. She'll have outgrown these things by the time she returns, no doubt. Are you fond of dancing, child? My Carellen's a lovely dancer. She sings beautifully as well. What do you like to do?"

"Needlework."

"Very restful, isn't it?"

"Well," said Arya, "not the way I do it."

Do we know what happens when your host body dies? So Snow wargs into Ghost, but his body dies, is he stuck in Ghost?
Isn't that what happened to the Wildling who warged into the eagle? I thought he was permanently in there?
Thats going to suck if Snow spends the rest of the story as a Dierwolf. Kind of makes the identity of his parents irrelevant.
That's why I'm holding out hope that he doesn't kick the bucket. Apparently Martin asked the future show runners who they thought Jon's parents were as part of the interview process- that question would be of zero importance of Martin was just going to make him into a direwolf.

My guess is the warging will prevent Jon from "losing something" when he is brought back. I think Beric mentions he loses a piece of himself every time he is brought back.

1) Sansa and Brienne escape (I don't even know if Theon needs to or he takes the place of the scrub women)

2) They come across Stannis' camp and Melisandre. Either during or pre-battle. Melisandre realizes she needs to get back to Jon Snow and abandons Stannis. (this puts the key players more or less where they are in the book)

3) Stannis gets his ### whupped. There's no one left with him that has a relevance to the main story.

4) Ramsey realized Sansa escaped....sends the Raven.

5) Jon gets stabbed. Setting it up for Season Six. Melisandre can bring him back. He has Samwell there as an ally and he has a wildling army to confront the Boltons.

If two of those pics (depicting the same scene) are true, the second of them alludes to something the show has really given short-shrift to. Especially with that character. I'm wondering how they're gonna sell it.

Yep, there has been no hint of that at all, so I think it will seem to come out of left field.

No hint with him, but they always focus on that area ....
Focus on what area?

Dammit, its annoying trying to talk around stuff...

Yeah. I know this is the varsity thread, but I didn't want to specify things that haven't been shown yet. I'm seconding your question anyway, KP. I must have missed something on the show.

I think he means the eyes, and how the irises/pupils go white when people have warged into other things in the show. It looks like we're getting a Wrath of Khan ending here. Not sure who's tougher to deal with - Ghost or Bones

Gotcha

I think people will know that is what it is if his eyes go white, but (sorry to talk about story and all) I think it would be a bit out of left field since there is no mention of others in the family or given a hint of this in Jon. I would assume he wargs into Ghost, but hell, Ghost is hardly with him anymore.

That's a nice pop though......if it's the last scene of the season, you know it's going to be mis-interpreted by a lot of people.

Even the TV thread people should connect that.
