I could respect, to a point, a variation of the book in which the Manderly's take the role of Mance and the Shield Maidens and rescue a tortured Rickon from Ramsey's clutches.....but that's going off tangent on a story that's clock is running out.....and that's adding some key players (Manderly's) at the 11th hour.  

I'd rather see Jon deny his Targaryan heritage and be unbastardized to become a Stark at the end of the story by Queen Dany.

Yeah.  

I think the theory is that they were born the same year and her physical descriptions don't match either Howland, Jojen or Crannogmen in general but are more in line with Jons.  Hell, the actress looks almost exactly like Kit. 

I didn't think much of it.....but the nod to her importance in the second episode this season was a bit weird for presumably a minor player.  Admittedly, maybe the idea (with Brandon apparently NOT growing into a tree) is that she'll be his wife/lover......but I wouldn't be surprised.  House Reed has always gotten more importance than they probably should have in the story.

I think its a stretch to say it was hinted at - but it does seem to be leading up to The Hound v. The Mountain in Cersei's trial by combat.

It has been leaked that Al Swearengen will play a role in reviving an old warrior - presumably the Hound.  In this episode Arya conceded that she left the Hound to die - not that he was definitely dead.

ETA - Cersei feeling a bit over confident on the Trial by Combat is probably a sure sign that she loses...

Why wouldn't the same guy play the Hound?  Did he die in real life or something?

 
Based on the prophecy - I expect Tommen to die in battle (seems like one of the season previews has a clip of Cersei talking to someone about leading the army, but that could have been Jamie she was talking to) - if not in battle, Tommen will still likely die.  Then Cersie will die at the hands of the valonqar - either Jamie or The Hound (or Tyrion).  If "valonqar is gender neutral, that opens up some other possibilities - including Arya or the Sand Snakes - but Maggie also used the term "his" when describing the valonqar - suggesting it is a male that leads to Cersei's death.

I'll be mildly surprised if Cersei survives the season.

Same guy will presumably play the Hound.  Ian McShane plays someone (probably a monk) who revives the Hound (or nurses him back to health).  In the books, it is inferred that the Hound is a gravedigger at a monastery.  That suggests he may be selected by the Faith if there is a Trial by Combat.

 
What if the Sparrow is getting in Tommen's good graces to eventually convince him to be the combatant against the Mountain in the trial by combat?

 
Varys/Ilirio prepare the way for Danaerys to take the throne by contracting with the faceless men to eliminate the pretender Tommen. And for the agent to perform the elimination, the faceless men send...

It seems very likely McShane's character will be a combination of characters including Septon Meribald, which means he'll deliver the "war and broken men" speech, perfect for Mcshane's overacting, cheesy melodramatic style.

I think that chapter was written for ADWD but moved into WOW. I think it had be read before at appearances - but not released on the web. That said, IIRC, Martin wasn't going to release any more chapters until WOW was nearing completion.

 
interesting in the interviews after the show that one of the show runners referred to Sansa and Jon as two major characters....suggesting they each may have a role in the endgame. Or it could be nothing...

 
This episode led me to believe there wouldn't be a Cleganebowl. If they actually decide to go to battle, the #### is going to hit the fan and I can't see a trial for Cersei fitting into this plot anymore. They are going to bring this to a head before that will happen. 

 
I was expecting the dragons to show up at the end.  Figured maybe the fire would have drawn them out.

 
After several instances of the Stark children nearly meeting; Arya outside of the Red Wedding, Arya and Sansa moving around the same countryside, Jon and the wildlings outside the tower Bran and Rickon were hiding in, it was very satisfying and moving to see the Jon ans Sansa reunion.

Sometimes?  Reddit is pretty much the worst place on the Internet (and yeah I still go there every day). On one hand, it's a great aggregator of news and information. On the other hand, every neck beard who wants to argue with their keyboard congregates in one spot and it's just unbearable to read through at times.  It's exacerbated with something like this show because people have such strong feelings about what did/didn't and can/cannot happen. 

 
Good episode, but the final scene looked cheesy as hell to me, both in terms of the special effects and the staging. Most melodramatic brazier pushes ever.

That, and I really dislike All-Powerful Dany.

So with two fleets in our future, one to the white walkers, one to Dany?

Also curious where they go with the Sansa/Jon relationship...seems like something unexpected will happen. 

Its going to be interesting to see how all the book gets all the pieces in the same place.
