Guess just showssometimes the most obvious and easiest explanation is where it's at.what a complete waste of time and effort all the theorizing is.

Meh, R+L=J was a fan theory that turns out to be (seemingly) correct and a huge component of the story.what a complete waste of time and effort all the theorizing is.
While that would have made sense in the nature of the way they presented it......Brienne's parlay had nothing to do with the Castle falling. Since Edmure is now the Frey's #####.......the Frey's hold sway over what the Tully army does.I was left wondering why Brienne didn't make some attempt to parlay the fact that Jaime took Riverrun without violence into allowing the Tully army to go north. Wasn't that the deal they reached?
That's a great theory that is based on relationships and well placed, subtle dialogue. The crazy theories with the Arya thing involve magic and ideas which the show has not laid the foundation for.Meh, R+L=J was a fan theory that turns out to be (seemingly) correct and a huge component of the story.
I mostly liked that episode. Lots of really good acting for sure (except the waif). Some clunky writing in places (the wine party scene was particularly cringeful). The Hound scenes are always good.
Do we think the Blackfish is proper dead? I guess the Riverrun stuff was just to get Jamie away from King's Landing and provide an excuse for a few more set piece scenes between a couple of characters. Doesn't seem to have advanced the overall plot much if this is the end of that. I hope there's more to it.
I like how Jon and Arya have both taken to wearing their hair the same way Ned did, particularly now that they're both trying to work their way back home. It's a nice little detail.
So is it possible Ned somehow hired the faceless men to watch over/train Arya? Or Forel was actually a faceless man and just took his job to completion? Seems like Jaqen was giving a mission accomplished vibe there.
Me too, although it may not have been much of a fight. He's old and outnumbered in tight walkways. If he charged at the Lannister soldiers, a single crossbow bolt would have put him down quick.Would have liked to see that Black Fish fight![]()
Part of me believes he was secretly thinking, "I'm finally rid of those bickering little girls".Definitely, his smile at the end looked like this was his plan for Arya all along.
All the King's Landing stuff has been the major weak point of this season for me. The only bright spots there have been the few Lady Olenna scenes and this week with the Mountain treating that guy's head like it was the lid on a Pringles can. Otherwise it seems like everyone's big plan there is to bore each other to death.Just to pile on the bickering...
I don't think they did enough to sell Toemen shutting out his mom. Wasn't that long ago that he was crying in her arms about how he was going to protect her.
Eh, I guess I can buy it. He's a young kid being pulled in multiple directions. In one ear he has the high sparrow which is seemingly being his father figure and now his wife backing him up telling Tommen that his mom has to be held accountable like everyone else. The tragedy in all this is, that Tommen really is/was a good kid, kind of a #####, but overall he is just trying to do the right thing, and being pulled in so many directions at such a young age is going to end up tearing him apart.Just to pile on the bickering...

Yep. Rest of the episode seemed dedicated to killing off story lines that should have been killed off long ago (Arya. Danaerys) and storylines to nowhere (the return of Blackfish). Now, if they could just kill off Jonathan Pryce already. He was interesting for a short spell, but now, it's getting pretty boring. Hopefully, the writers will focus on the storylines that are fun, like Snow v. Bolton, the Hound, the Iron Born (which seemed drudgery until recently, though I still want Theon dead just so I can stop seeing the sniveling). At least the Hound is still a phenomenal gruff *******. Saving grace of the episode for me.
I am assuming it will be Tommen's death. Jamie will blame her directly or indirectly.I wonder where they're going with Jaime's storyline. In the books, he had already soured on Cercei by the time he joined the siege of Riverrun. Is it going to be Tommen's death that drives a wedge between them, her nuking Kings Landing, or will there not be a wedge at all?
I think she'd be silly to think she can rule thru her child. All she needs to do is look at Cersei to see how hard that is. I don't think this is the play.As soon as she has an heir, she has no need for Tommen - albeit she might be better served waiting for the child to actually be born.
I figure whatever this mystery rumor is they'll employ to tear the sparrows down will unintentionally bring Tommen down with them now that he's intertwined the faith and the crown, and Jamie will hold that against her. Maybe not though, seems like his love for her vastly outweighs his love for his children.I am assuming it will be Tommen's death. Jamie will blame her directly or indirectly.
Pure guess, but Margaery will announce she is with child, and will orchestrate Tommen's death - and make it look like Cersei was involved. Wasn't Margaery just talking to the Sparrow about getting pregnant? As soon as she has an heir, she has no need for Tommen - albeit she might be better served waiting for the child to actually be born.
A Queen needs ships.why did the dragon just fly off instead of blowing up all the slave owners ships?
The sparrows or whatever really sucked there too. They are suppose to be honored to die for the faith. Them running away doesn't make sense. Showed cowardice. All the King's Landing stuff has been the major weak point of this season for me. It's one of I think several of the story lines that are suffering from what @Ramsay Hunt Experience mentioned above where the show writers have had to basically tread water for them in the absence of Martin's material until the other story lines catch up. You can tell because the acting is still top notch but the situations and lines are more stock t.v. cliches than what you'd expect from Martin.
I was hoping it was one of them coming up to Tyrion's aid instead of Dany showing up. Not sure what they are doing down there....So Tyrion unchained the two dragons in episode one and then nothing. City is under siege and they don't release the dragons? Wasn't that the point of unchaining them? "Dragons don't do well in captivity" so let's unchain them but keep them holed up in the catacombs?
Someone help me with this?
Yeah, that would have pushed the narrative in regards to Tyrion maybe being able to control the dragons.I was hoping it was one of them coming up to Tyrion's aid instead of Dany showing up. Not sure what they are doing down there....
For sure. Maybe that is another theory that is going to be pushed aside - Tyrion riding a dragon.Yeah, that would have pushed the narrative in regards to Tyrion maybe being able to control the dragons.
I forget what that was?Do we assume Varys is heading back to do the same thing we got in the books, or is he going back for something else on the show?
He killed Kevan Lannister - essentially to keep him from running Kings Landing - and to allow Cersei to continue to muck things up.I forget what that was?
Why is the Mountain not a wanted man right now in King's Landing and them attempting to put him under arrest? Didn't King Tommen say to Jaime "An attack on the faith is an attack on the crown?"The only bright spots there have been the few Lady Olenna scenes and this week with the Mountain treating that guy's head like it was the lid on a Pringles can.
We got no food, we got no jobs... our Sparrows' heads are falling off!Why is the Mountain not a wanted man right now in King's Landing and them attempting to put him under arrest? Didn't King Tommen say to Jaime "An attack on the faith is an attack on the crown?"
Doesn't get much more direct then ripping off a faith militant's head when they're attempting to uphold a king's command. Later he's allowed to just stroll right into the throne room. I get that he's a big scary guy, but just seems ridiculous to give him a free pass. And what did the faith militant report back to the King? "Um, we couldn't find your mom, sorry, we looked EVERYWHERE. Oh, where's the new guy? He really had to go take a piss, he'll be back soon I'm sure."
Why do you think they are down there? The point was to free them so they could get bigger. Maybe they are off hunting somewhere.I was hoping it was one of them coming up to Tyrion's aid instead of Dany showing up. Not sure what they are doing down there....
I imagine they told the high sparrow/king exactly what happened. That resulted in Tommen's decree. Why #### with the Mountain when you can just outlaw fighting? Why is the Mountain not a wanted man right now in King's Landing and them attempting to put him under arrest? Didn't King Tommen say to Jaime "An attack on the faith is an attack on the crown?"

Maybe. It was an odd choice regardless. You'd figure a guy who's been on a few campaigns would know not to pee in the water supply. There were only a zillion trees in the vicinity that would have served just as well.Did anyone else think that showing the Hound piss in the river was the writers "pissing on the Lady Stonehart, and all the other crazy fan theories". She was found in river, and then the Hound gets with the BWB and pisses in a river. Why else include that scene? Other than a giant "haha, I piss on your theories" to the fans.
Martin has done a far better job with Arya in Braavos without even knowing how it resolves. I am sure whatever he has planned is much better than her getting stabbed in the gut repeatedly then miraculously running from Terminator 3 only to kill her in the dark. The Duff Man said:That Arya payoff was the worst. If Martin hasn't come up with anything better it is no wonder he hasn't finished the book.
