With every Sansa chapter I read, my disdain grows for her like the stallion who will mount the world grows In Dany's womb.
From watching the show only, I want to beat her with Joffrey. Just pick that little jag-off up by the ankles and beat Sansa over the head with him. With every Sansa chapter I read, my disdain grows for her like the stallion who will mount the world grows In Dany's womb.
She's worse in the book IMO and I still hear her annoying bratty snobbish voice in my head. From watching the show only, I want to beat her with Joffrey. That's how I am as well for the most part. I'm not quite sure what to make of Varys, Greyjoy, and Mormont still, they could go either way. Ned is too honorable for his own good, but I respect that. He is trying to do what is right.I think it's a misdirection and a means of giving Tywin overconfidence perhaps. But why let the spy go? Good question. Maybe it had something to do with being a twin and such a slight also has driven Jaime to be the man he has become. Also I think that Tyrion end up being Lord Lannister down the road, and may technically be so right now being that Cersei is Queen, Jaime the head of the king's guard, and Tywin now Hand of the King. So is Tyrion now Warden of the West?Having read the books and knowing what happens, I'm enjoying reading this thread and the thoughts on what might be happening.A question I have regarding the Lannisters is this:Why isn't Jaime named Tyrion? The family line is Tytos then Tywin then Jaimie and Tyrion. It seems the "Ty" theme would dictate the firstborn son and presumed heir would be named something "Ty."

Tywin is both Hand of the King and Warden of the West and Lord of Casterly Rock. Just like Ned was Hand and Warden of the North and Lord of Winterfell.Technically the Warden title is not hereditary though in practice it pretty much is.Good question. Why is Jamie laying siege to the river lords? I thought he was suppose to be going to the veil. Is it because it is on the way and the river lords are allies? (I think that is where Lady Stark is from, right?) But the banner captain said if they broke the siege then they would join them.... or is this just an overall power play by the Lanisters? or did I miss something completely?

Right, but while Ned was in King's Landing as the Hand, Robb ran Winterfell. If Tywin, Jaime, and Cersei are all at Kingslanding, that just leaves Tyrion, no? And he is about to gain some respect IMO leading the hill people in battle.Did I mention how much I love this series? I've thought about doing this, but I don't really want to spoil the series for myself. I'm thinking whenever HBO stops airing new episodes, either through cancellation or the natural end of the series, I'll then read them all.Right, but while Ned was in King's Landing as the Hand, Robb ran Winterfell. There were no other Starks at Winterfell other than Ned's immediate family. There are LOTS of Lannisters that could potentially run the rock in Tywin's absence.Right, but while Ned was in King's Landing as the Hand, Robb ran Winterfell. Ratings were up this week and hit a new high for the series. Hard to say, though, if it'll go to completion. 7-8-9 years is a long time for a TV show to tell one story. So how is the viewership of this series? Does it seem likely to get picked up and carried through to completion? The storyline continues to be awesome in subsequent books, but in reality it is going to be the number of viewers that dictates the series.

Not a fan. Banging his sister + pushing a little kid from a window = jerk-off. No, supposed to be 7 but there's been some talk that one or more of the books will have to be spread over more than one season. There's going to be 9 books??Ratings were up this week and hit a new high for the series. My biggest worry is cost. How much is it costing HBO to produce? Are they going to be able to continue it? Wasn't expense the reason Rome wasn't stretched any longer than it was?So how is the viewership of this series? Does it seem likely to get picked up and carried through to completion? Yes, and I'm afraid this show will run into the same problem. I have no idea what kind of viewership Rome got and how that compares to Game of Thrones though. I'm not even sure if ratings are as relevant when talking about an HBO show, I'm sure they are much more concerned with the number of subscriptions, obviously those two are related though. I'm hoping we get at least three seasons. My biggest worry is cost. How much is it costing HBO to produce? Are they going to be able to continue it? Was Rome any good? I never watched it. There's a big fanbase for these already based on the book sales, and I am one of I assume many newcomers to keep HBO going. If they cancel this early a la Deadwood (and to a lesser extent the Wire) I may cut the cord.Yes, and I'm afraid this show will run into the same problem. ...SHouse Tully is Lady Starks family? But again, what confuses me is the banner captains comment of helping them THEN they will be allies.

...SHouse Tully is Lady Starks family? But again, what confuses me is the banner captains comment of helping them THEN they will be allies.Yup, Lady Stark is a Tully.
House Tully and their bannermen would join with House Stark once they are free of fighting the Lannisters on their own. I think the banner captain was implying that at the moment House Tully can't spare any troops because they are engaged against the Lannisters by themselves. I would guess that the Tully's dont field an army as large as the Lannisters.
It seems as though the Lannisters have the largest army in the seven kingdoms. Tywin mentions that he is going to give Jaime command of half of their house's troops, 30K men. Did I hear that right? If so the Lannisters have 60K troops. Robb Stark has 18K he's going to have to help the Tully's if they have any chance against the Lannisters.
Also, in an earlier scene someone stated they had 18k soldiers. When he asked the spy about his count the spy said he was up to 20k.i haven't read the books, but that had to be a misdirection. In that scene, they were just talking about 2 different options for how to attack. I assume they now go with the other option than they one the scout knows. either that or its yet another nail in the Stark coffinBut why let the spy go? So stupid unless its a misdirection. The Starks are a bunch of morons. They need to do more stabbing and less yapping. That's how I am as well for the most part. The spy was "up" to 20K. Which means he thinks there are more troops in the Stark's army. That helps Robb tremendously. So he let the spy go. This might also force Tywin to be more caustious as his numerical advantage is less than he might think it is.Really enjoying the show.Speculating here of course, but i think Tywin sees through the misdirection. No one could be so dumb as to let a scout go AND tell him the battle plans. Tywin has to figure that outAlso, in an earlier scene someone stated they had 18k soldiers. Everytime I think of how much I despise him, I have to begrudgingly admit that he's doing a damn fine job of acting.the fact that I despise Joffrey SO vehemently makes me realize that the kid actor is doing a bang up job.
Already picked up for the 2nd season and the numbers have been growing since the premiere. This past episode was up roughly 20% from the premiere numbers and on Sunday night alone it brings in around 3.5 million viewers between its 2 showings. When you factor in the On Demand & HBOGo viewing, I've heard some large viewing totals being tossed around for this series. Also it is supposedly performing incredibly well overseas. Add in what I presume will be fantastic DVD numbers, and I can't imagine this show is going anywhere in the near future. I don't know if it will make it the full 7 but it will get at worst 3.My biggest worry is cost. How much is it costing HBO to produce? Are they going to be able to continue it?
