HBO - Song of Ice&Fire Series -Varsity Thread - no TV only whiners (4 Viewers)

Nobody has noticed it so maybe they just think its a joke. Might be more obvious if he deleted it now.
yeah just gotta let it slide by
I'm sat delay posting so it might have already happened by now, but the moment Mad Sweeney sees it, there's no way it just slides by imo.
What slides by? I haven't given away any spoilers. The no-book wanks just scream and cry because of backstory and talking about character differences. I never even came close to giving away anything other than unsubstantial trivia.

How did the Tickler scene go down in the books? I don't recall it as being awesome.
The Hound is fighting the Tickler and a couple others when Arya backstabs him. Then she basically goes Manson Family on him while asking him all the Qs he usually asked the people he was torturing.

I think that scene needs to happen, even if they change the characters a bit.
The Hound and Arya run into Polliver, the Tickler, and a young squire at an inn. The Hound kills Polliver and, while he is fighting the Tickler, Arya backstabs the Tickler and starts screaming the questions that he asked all the people he tortured at Harrenhal. I am sure that the scene will happen but it won't have the same impact if she is asking questions to some random dude that we never saw torture anyone.

that head is photo shopped. but who knows

That's what I mean. The head is horrible, like something out of a Twilight spoof.
probably a pic taken on set, not a screen cap.
Other than the official set photographer, whose pictures would never see the light of day without permission from HBO, I can't imagine anyone being in position to take that photo. It'd be hard to do on a show that's not super secretive about spoilers. This has to be a screen cap that's been doctored with the head added on afterwards. If it's the actual head, then it's a big step backwards from the realism they've accomplished with the wolves and the show in general.

The lighting on the head seems off, but I'm not ruling out the possibility of it being legit.

Regardless of what wolf head shows up and the possibility of seeing the start of one of my least favorite parts of the story (Lady Stoneheart), I'm pumped for tonight's finale.

Not as much action, but we expected that. Lot's of good set-up for next season. Last scene was kind of corny though.

I actually liked the last scene. Came across better than I pictured in the books, and holy crap, that must've been the first genuine full-toothed smile from Dany in the entire series (not counting lovey-dovey looks at Drogo).

The rest of the episode was like the previous season finales: underwhelming, but set things up for next season. I liked Arya and the Hound, but they've tiptoed around her violent moments for all three seasons, and I really don't get why they killed the Tickler prematurely. Served no purpose.

Also, I have no idea what they're doing with Shae. Why build up that Shae genuinely cares that much about Tyrion? Will she end up in Tywin's bed as a pure accident? Are they changing that as well?

I thought the episode was great. Tied up loose ends and answered questions of the season. No action, but great acting and setup for what will be the best season of TV ever. This is probably the best show television has seen.

Hey Sabertooth, you're the OP, do you not have the ability to modify the thread title?

For the most part we've agreen spoilers tags are no longer needed in here, but the title still indicates otherwise.

I've read all of the books, so I'm not complaining about being spoiled myself. The books and the TV series are so good I would hate for some noob to the board to get spoiled because of the misleading title.

I thought we might see Coldhands as well.

Really didn't care for the messiah worship scene just seemed weird.

Series needs more Bron.

Yeah, I'm not liking her storyline at all. I always imagined her as an opportunist, think it's been too lovy dovy on TV.

I agree. Shae is shown as very caring on this show. When she showed up in Tywin's bed in the books, I don't recall any leadup to that. It was just BAM.

I changed it once before. Now that there are two Non-book threads I felt it was time to change it again. Last time I did it, one of the mods came behind and switched it. Hope they leave it this time.

Well, she did testify against him. They are setting up her motivation and depth of the betrayal.

Right, I thought she was just climbing the ladder and looking out for herself. They seem to be playing more of a scorned lover/revenge angle, not a fan.

testified against who? Book or show? Please elaborate.
Shae testifies against Tyrion.
Yeah, she brings the "my lion of lannister" back to haunt him in the courtroom and everyone laughs at him. I remember reading that and thinking that's pretty below the belt.

Thought it was a great episode until the final scene, just didn't resonate with me at all. When she started walking out into the crowd, I said that is really stupid of her. Even though I have read the books, I honestly thought someone was going to pull a knife and stab her and that would be the big final image. Kind of a let down after dragons in the fire and the army of the dead.

Everyone I've talked to so far at work this morning has been underwhelmed by the final scene as well.

I didn't like the Bolton line "He ignored my advice the whole way".

Made Rob seem like an idiot when he was owning the Lanisters in the field.

Not battle strategy stuff, but Bolton did advise him on a lot of things (not always good advice) and Robb didn't listen.

This episode was great other than the final scene, which actually wasn't horrible in my mind, except that it was a poor way to end the season.

 Rob was an idiot.
Not when it came to battle, which is what they implied.
Some wars are won with swords and spears, others with quills and ravens. This appears to have been one where diplomacy outflanked armies.

Rob should have realized the fragility of his alliances and acted accordingly. Dead kings win no wars. As b-deep pointed out, his mother helped dig his grave with her own series of mistakes, but Robb ultimately should have acted in the best interests of his "kingdom" and not followed his heart when it came to his wife and mother.

There was a scene in the show where Rob is saying his dad taught him to care for all his subjects

that is where he failed, he cared for his love and his family so much that he really failed to think about his kingdom as a whole

it seems the stark boys have a problem with vows/oaths/promises in this series
