HC Bill Belichick (1 Viewer)

Jonnu is a fit for the way the Titans play offense. BB couldn't figure that out. So there's reason to be cautious. On the other hand, BB wants to make 2-TE offenses happen and maybe he'll figure it out with Pitts and Jonnu.

CrakRok says Belichick's lawyer is finalizing the contract details with the Falcons.
Which would mean the weekend is for working out staff n firming up plans and all.

He IS scheduled for a two day interview this weekend which you'd think "why would they hire before"...well he also was seen leaving a meeting with Kraft and eating in Atlanta and enough social media proof he has been there.

This CrakRok guy though.....grain of salt.

Crakrok has broke some news before. But he's also a spitballer

Quote myself
Well known NFL reporters today posted that Vrabel has an in person interview and Harbaugh a second interview.
Why schedule that if they've agreed with BB?
It could mean CrakRok is untrue but it could also be a negotiation tactic as big $ is being discussed.

That’s one of many parody accounts on Twitter pretending to be sources. That Belichick photo is at least 4 years old. Also not sure I’d trust someone named “CrakRok”:

If you can’t find that source’s work outside of their Twitter account, don’t trust it. Adam Schefter appears on TV a lot, Mike Reiss does and also writes articles, etc.

CrakRok used to be in a bunch of my FFPC leagues.

Not really a parody account so much as someone trying to pass themselves as an insider. Another mans hustle is his business and not mine but I'd defintely not be posting his tweets as a source.

I thought lots of the same.

Sorry I thought I worded that well enough with caution
No apology necessary but I’d have been dubious of any report saying it’s a done deal in light of reporting that Harbaugh is scheduled for a second interview and Vrabel, who has the same agent as Bill, is set for Wednesday.

Adam Schefter
@AdamSchefter
Falcons completed a second head coaching interview with former Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick

I said similar
His interview was reported to be this weekend and possibly two days. Schefter just tweeted that the interview did get done today.

I didn't know they had the same agent but still same point as maybe it's a negotiation tactic.

I reached out to someone. Assuming a good interview, after or during the second interview is traditionally when contract $ is discussed.
Harbaugh will know this. He'll discuss w his agent
Vrabel will know this and wonder if he's going, maybe he calls Bill.

Crab cake could be correct

This is really interesting:

Nothing personal...not buying it. He doesn't care about the media and can handle it fine.
Not sure what that means about it being personal...I am just posting something that I thought was interesting from a very legit site.

Not throwing shade at you but IMO this smacks of BB spinning why none of the sexy big market teams are interested in him, while simultaneously landing his plane to take the job in Atlanta.

I agree...he looked much better...but for whatever reason he was a disaster in the BB/McDaniel system and really looked lost.

He was a complete train wreck in that system and admitted after the first year that he had no idea what he was doing out there on the field. But he assured everybody that he'd gotten it. Then, in his second year, he still didn't get it and then he was gone.

It was a bad signing for New England.

Shoot, if I was BB, and I brought that many rings to a city, and they turned on me after the next QB after Brady didn't work out, I would be looking to avoid a similar market as well.

Boston sports coverage is tough, the fans are demanding, and sports radio there is the most toxic in the country.

Worse than Philly? I didn't think it was possible.

Exactly. I don't agree with the article but appreciate you posting it, which is why I said nothing personal.

My guess is he still wants to go where he has the most power...as for this angle I don't think it is a major piece of his decision, but I do think he probably sees it as a side benefit...I don't think you can truly understand what it is like to play here unless you live here...Dennis Eckersley had a quote that I think sums it up...he said Boston is the best place to play when you win and the worst place to play when you lose...it is 24/7 where there are just huge extremes of negativity and positivity (and there are idiots on both sides) and because it is such a tight-knit area of the country you do not catch a break off the field as well...there is a long list of athletes and coaches who got absolutely swallowed up by it...I have long thought one of the most underrated areas for both Brady and BB is how they dealt with the media...they did it very differently but they both did a great job keeping the distractions to as much of a minimum as they could be for 20 years being under intense scrutiny and I'm sure BB is not gonna miss it being that intense.

Worse than Philly? I didn't think it was possible.
I really don't know, to be honest. Nothing healthy about listening to sports radio.

The 3-6 hour with Felger and Mazz on The Hub and Jones on EEI is relentless...they grade everything on being perfect and even if you were perfect, they will find fault with something.
Listened to them for years on my commute home. Now I find it hard to listen. It's always negative. Can't stand Mazz.

AP/Boston.com has him flying on Blank's personal jet and completing the interview also

He's going to get that Atlanta job and Blank probably drops a blank check on it too
Seems like a lot of coaches are getting second interviews into next week. I wonder if reporters are getting ahead of themselves and this isn't the slam dunk everyone says it is.

If a coach was unemployed or in college then "no rules"
If a coach is employed then they could only do virtual interviews til after this weekends games.

So it's equal for most but Harbaugh, Vrabel and Belichick had an edge in the interview process- just in this regard.

Belichek is a relic, not really sure why anyone would be going after him. But he'll probably go to Atlanta with no QB and their record won't be much different than New England's

sure but Atlanta has to be a stroll in the park compared to Boston. I know it’s a big city but i dont think its a tough sports media town

there are a lot of dumb callers in Philly but my impression is that some of the Boston hosts are really vicious and personal with the teams which I wouldn’t say the Philly hosts are now

Do you have examples of this?

Do you have examples of this?

Dan Shaughnessy back in the day. Used to coin nicknames like "Jurassic Carl" for Carl Everett, who was a Biblical literalist and didn't believe dinosaurs existed. He was a piece of work, mean-spirited as all get-out. That's when all that personalization **** happened in Boston.

The Red Sox are uniquely prone to it. More than the Pats. The Red Sox take it so hard from the media that even when they're winning the players seem to want out. (I lived in the area for over thirty years and grew up there, so I know how the media treated the different entities. If anything, the Pats get kid gloves compared to the baseball team.)

Felger and Mazz are something else. I used to listen to and watch their show all the time. Those guys are crazy negative. They tried to have Mazz calling baseball games for a while for NESN and that went over like a witch in Salem. Straight to the bottom of the pond.

Oh God...Dan Shaughnessy...he is beyond irrelevant unless you want to talk about the Red Sox from the 1970's.

Negative...100%...are they vicious or make it personal...nope.

He's still revelant because of his legacy and he had lasted at the Globe penning front page columns through at least '04. Gordon Edes then took over that mantle and wasn't as personal with the players, but still shoveled and trafficked in dirt. Those writers are part of the city's culture and legacy. He was a nasty piece of work.

He is a joke now...no one cares about him...there was a time when the Globe writers were the gold standard...they were as good as there ever was but that is so long ago...the worst thing that ever happened to Shank was Boston teams winning...once they did his schtick was over...he couldn't even name one starter on the Pats O line the past decade...he's probably at the Last Drop in Brighton trying to hit on a BC girl he is 50 years older then.

Belichek is a relic, not really sure why anyone would be going after him. But he'll probably go to Atlanta with no QB and their record won't be much different than New England's
Because he can still coach defense at a high level and because the Falcons can address QB this offseason via the draft, free agency, or trade. The key is not giving him too much power in personnel because that contributed to much of the Pats’ recent decline.

Felger is a Wisconsin guy who’s stuck in the area since his BU days and I can’t remember much positive things from him. Mazz is a full blown hater and grating to listen to. I used to enjoy the Big Show with the Big O on WEEI back in the early 2000s. Can’t remember exactly when but sometime in 2008 I think I stopped listening. The Whiner Line was always fun. But the one thing that stuck in my craw was no matter how successful the Pats were, the Red Sox always dominated the airwaves. Barely heard about the Celtics even when they were winning. For Bruins talk you had to listen to whatever show Dale Arnold was on. But the disrespect for the Pats was wild. You had Ron Borges and his grudge against Belichick for benching Bledsoe. Just so much negativity from the media and it extends to the fans. The Fellowship of the Miserable is what the fans were called. I don’t think the media is a factor whatsoever in Belichick’s decision of his destination, he has thicker skin than that. But it’s true that it’s not easy up here, and I doubt he’ll miss the Boston press.

I’m not an expert on Boston so I’m not going to die on this hill, just my impression from the outside

Boston sports media has been very pro Pats for the last couple decades, pushing narratives to the point where I have yet to meet one Pats fan who doesn't see deflategate as a total frame of Brady - I say, sure, just explain those emails to me in a way i can understand it logically . . . ..

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...g-the-incriminating-deflategate-texts-in-full

McNally (deflator) (9:05:45am): Tom sucks...im going make that next ball a fu**in balloon

he is a slender guy and his goal was to get to 200 pounds. Mr. McNally is a big fellow and had the opposite goal: to lose weight. 'Deflate' was a term they used to refer to losing weight."

just quoting from the SI piece above, but I think it was Reiss who published a very long-winded pretzel of words that's sole purpose was to make the Jack Spratt narrative a reality. I remember thinking even Hunter Thompson couldn't spin this stuff into art.

Sox do get a lot of criticism, even Will Fleming threw some occasional shade on them inbetween bootlicks end of last season.

While I get your point and it probably won’t work, speaking as a Falcons fan - give him whatever he wants and see how it goes. Can’t be any worse than the last 58 years.

Looks like Belichick isn't gonna get a HC gig. I wonder if he would consider being hired as a consultant, Im sure there are teams who would love and could use his input on defense.
