Mr. Know-It-All

Footballguy
20 team, Mixed 5x5, Redraft

Currently Sitting in 1st place by a slim margin, but pretty lucky to be there

17 man roster, all players play - no reserves. Only moves allowed are one add/drop on or after May 15th and one add/drop on or after June 15th. In addition anytime a player is on the DL or sent to the minors you can drop him and pick up a player from the same position - but you lose all rights to the player you drop.

Here is the roster -

C - R Hernandez

1B - Morneau

2B - Jose Lopez

3B - Longoria

SS - Jose Reyes

UT - Swisher

OF - Ludwick

OF - Dunn

OF - Dukes

OF - Spilborghs

P - Halladay

P - Bedard

P - Vazquez

P - Jurrjens

P - Anthony Reyes

P - Papelbon

P - Chris Ray

Scoring cats are - AVG, R, RBI, SB, HR....Wins, Saves, ERA, WHIP, Ks

Obviously with 20 teams in the league, there is not much to pick from.

Reyes and Ray seem like candidates to be replaced, but I would hate to cut ray if he will eventually be the closer...and there are no closers on the wire.

Spilborghs, Dukes, Hernandez and Jose Lopez migth be candidates on offense to drop.

I think Anthony reyes is the guy to drop if I can find any value at SP on the waiver wire.

Here are some potential free agents -

Hughes

Duke

Bannister

Richmond

Martis

Millwood

Zimmerman

Uehara

Masterson

F Morales

Braden

Bailey

Kawakami

Zito

Soriano

Snell

Wang

There are a few others like Palmer and Cecil who I don't know much about.

So, which if any would be an upgrade over Reyes or Ray? Or i can hold my move and use it at a later date.

I would drop Reyes for either Uehara or Martis, depending on your scouting.

Cecil has a high ceiling as he has 4 out pitches and doesn't give up HRs. But the Toronto rotation is going to get very crowded in a hurry, not sure if they have room for him at that point.

Personally, with this deep of league I wouldn't be willing to give up on Ray yet.

Andrew Bailey has already gotten to fill in at closer and could take over the job at some point this season if Ziegler stays dinged or starts struggline. If not he'll help you in the ratios that Reyes is currently trying to destroy.

Wouldn't drop Dukes or Spilborghs unless there is someone very appealing on the wire, particularly Dukes whom has been playing well lately. Doubt there is anyone that appealing out there at OF right now on your WW. As far as 2B is concerned there will probably be a mad dash to add a few guys like Aaron Hill, Felipe Lopez, or Asdrubal Cabrera if they somehow slipped by but I'd think those guys would have been late round flyers in a 20 team league (although maybe not with no bench and no MI position. As far as Hernandez is concerned there probably isn't much out there to excite you althoug maybe someone like Baker/FL or Florez/N might be o.k. Probably not worth messing with.

Gentlemen, thanks for the input and your advice here is confirming what I suspected.

Reyes is the real problem as there is nothing better on the wire to replace my batters. I agree with Cecil/Richmond/et al. too many arms for not enough slots. Uehara, Martis, Bailey, Hughes and maybe Masterson are who i have narrowed it down to...but who knows someone might make a boneheaded add/drop and i could get a steal. We'll see.

Someone dropped Ortiz...but I like Swisher at UT, so I am not dropping Swisher to get Ortiz...when I am already leading in RBI and HR (as if Ortiz can remember either one of those).
