i guess i should make my criticism a bit more constructive. Ill just go with the overall list1) Soriano is waaaaay too low. The guy had a monster year last year, in one of the worst hitters parks in baseball. Now he's in Wrigley, hitting around 2 all star quality hitters (Lee, Ramirez) Any list with him outside the top 7 or 8 (and probably top 5) doesnt make a whole lot of sense. Having him at #16 after a 40-40 season is just absurd.

2) Abreu at # 9 is far too high. The yankee lineup will help his run and RBI totals, but he doesnt have the power or speed to justify that spot. IMO, his absolute ceiling is like .305, 22 HR's, 100 RBI, 100 Runs and 30 SB's. Great numbers, but not a first round fantasy pick. Soriano has much higher upside, as does carl crawford, who could put up very similar numbers (probably minus around 15 RBI but +20 SB's)

3) Reyes at 15 is downright laughable. Hell, a case could be made for him at the #1 pick (although i think he's more like 3-5) Id love for the list writer to explain how he could rank a SS like Reyes 6 spots behind and OF like abreu, who he will crush in SB's and runs scored and be pretty much even with in HR, RBI and Avg.

Other guys that are far too high... Chipper Jones, Beltre, Helton, Beckett

Guys that are far too low..... Carpentar, Cabrera, Wright, Rollins

i really dont use projections from any site. I usually do my own, based on 3 year numbers, overall career trends, age, ballpark and team changes, ect. Its very hard to diferentiate between middle-tier players. There is no way to accuratly project the diference between OF # 35 and OF # 40. IMO, once you get past the top 15 or so at an IF position, or top 25 in the outfield, projections become very dificult and its a crapshoot.

At that point, it just comes down to using common sense to spot possible changes (player moving to new ball park, moving up or down in the order, team bringing in 30 HR guy to hit behind him, ect) and a whole lot of luck.

As for pitchers, i just do a range of stats for each guy. Nobody really knows whether CC sabathia is going to have an ERA of 3.4 or 3.8, so i just give a range. Its not perfect, but it at least gives me a basis for rankings.

My biggest problem in fantasy is telling the diference between guys with diferent stregnths. What is more important.. 7 more HR's or 18 more runs scored? Would you rather have a guy that hits .320 with 20 SB's or a guy that hits .295 with 30 Sb's? It really just comes down to instinct and the needs of your team at that point in the draft.

Although its a pain in the ###, this is why i like fantasy baseball more than football. There are far more strategic options and 1 player cannot destroy your season because they have 1 bad game.

Not bad.....that staff's a bit thin though....make sure to keep an eye on the early season WW to pick up some undrafted pitcher who starts out hot....then sell when he's on a roll.

You're not necessarily correct about Reyes. I have BP and BBHQ rankings, BP has him 14th, BBHQ 29th. Both are pretty sabremetrically oriented, so I trust them quite a bit. Reyes' HR number is a bit high given his peripherals as well, he should be closer to 12 HR or so.And he's injury prone.

I admit that he's very sexy and I'm glad I won't have to be faced with having to take him in my draft (7th overall), but I think the standard ranking of him in the top half of the first round is a little dogmatic.
