Henderson a Safe Play? (1 Viewer)

I got this from the Horn thread:

"From RotoWorld:

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Saints expect to hold Joe Horn (groin) out the final three games in hopes he'll be healthy for the playoffs.

The move makes sense due to the emergence of Devery Henderson, Terrance Copper, and most recently, Jamal Jones. Marques Colston is also now close to full health. In shallow fantasy leagues, consider giving Horn the boot."

Does this make Henderson a safe play this week, or even for the rest of the season?

He's had four catches in the past two weeks combined with Horn out.

WR Joe Horn (NO) continues to be day-to-day with a groin injury, according to his agent Ralph Vitolo on Tuesday. WDSU-TV reported erroneous information, using ESPN as its source, that Horn may miss the rest of the season because of the injury. Vitolo said the report was "not accurate at all." "I just talked to Joe and he just had his treatment," Vitolo said. "He's going to be day-to-day. He's going to try to play this week." HC Sean Payton also said Horn would be day-to-day on Monday when asked about the injury.

The question was whether he was a "safe" play. To me, a guy who has had only four catches during the past two weeks when the team's top two WRs were both out for one game and one of them missed the second game just isn't a safe bet. He's a deep threat. He doesn't get enough looks to be a safe starter. He's high risk, high reward. I wasn't saying you shouldn't start him. I was just saying that you carry a substantial amount of risk if you do.

There is a lot of risk, but the way Brees is throwing the ball and the fact that the Skins can't cover my sister has the guy starting for me this weekend in the first round. Then again, I'm playing LT so it's not like it matters :( But in my case, I need to go with those high risk, high reward players to have a chance to win....

I agree, Henderson is a serious deep threat that will be thrown to on those 40+ yard routes 1-2 times a game. The reward is whether or not he catches those.

Looked like Colston was Brees' major target before the cramps set in, therefor, I would only start Henderson if you have no other option, unless of course Horn is ruled out.

Imo, Devry is classic boom-or-bust guy. If you are overmatched this week going against the league juggarnaut, roll the dice and hope for 3-120-1. If you think you have your matchup in hand if your team merely plays to their average scoring, don't bother playing him.
