Henne for real? (1 Viewer)

He STARES at his receivers. He's got the big arm and his passes will always "look good." But that doesn't mean much when you're throwing them directly at a WR you've been staring at since the snap. No progressions.

Also, he's got a great deep ball.

But his touch passes and short/intermediate routes generally leave a lot to be desired. These are where a lot of his INTs are taking place.

bump for updates on his performance lately? He's putting up decent numbers, and against Pitt last week. He's a fringe QB1 at this point?

Yeah, I am currently wondering whether to drop him for Kitna. He's really been playing too well against some really tough defenses to go away from him, and after the way Fitzpatrick carved up Baltimore that suddenly isn't looking like it will be a tough game. He's making less mistakes, but I think the Miami system keeps him from being a true QB1.

Big Dolphins homer here.

I don't believe anymore. Great arm but not much else. He has no feel for the game. His pocket presence sucks. He has been looking at his progressions better, but he looks so mechanical. No flow to his game at all. And he still can't look off a safety or a CB if his life depended on it.

I have moved on (fantasy wise I have cut him loose) and so will the Dolphins next year if they can't find a better prospect to groom.

Henne's started 19 games in his career. Is that really enough time to develop pocket presence and a feel for the game? I know with free agency and the big player money there's a bigger need to "win now" then ever before. But is less then 2 full seasons really enough to label a QB a bust?

It shocks me how fans give up on a QB.... Feel for the game, pocket presence and looking off a safety are all learned traits... Arm strength and size are not.

Hey, I hope Miami is cursed at QB forever and we call it the Marino curse but, as long as Henne is healthy and continues to work at his craft I wouldn't be jumping off any bandwagons if I were a fan.

I remember when Giant fans were done with Eli... And I said, I'll take Eli any day for my QB.

He's sitting on waivers and thinking about picking him up for Sanchez as my #2 behind Flacco. Sanchez is just too scary to rely on. And I like how the QBBC looks for them going forward.

I watched the Pittsburgh game while in Miami this past weekend. I didn't think he looked that bad, he certainly played well enough to beat Pittsburgh. I think maybe Miami fans have some of the most ridiculous expectations of any team in the league.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but...

... Henne has a HELLUVA closing schedule, especially Weeks 15-16:

12 11/28/10 4:05pm @OAK

13 12/05/10 1:00pm CLE

14 12/12/10 4:15pm @NYJ

15 12/19/10 1:00pm BUF ***

16 12/26/10 1:00pm DET ***

Even the Jets have been pretty apt to give up the FF points to QB's this year oddly enough.

The homer in me wants to say that Revis is finally 100% and the rookie Wilson is finally getting his feet underneath him along with newcomer S Poole, the coaching staff got to game plan off the bye and get everyone on the same page. The 1st few games included Revis' injury and a lot of transition with 3 new guys in the secondary. I feel like we're just now going to see the potential of this defense... With Cromartie playing well - I think they should just stay on one side and take whatever WR comes their way since Cro isn't as used to moving from side to side.

But, when you have Brandon Marshall, he can make catches over anyone... Another reason to like Henne.

I know a franchise QB when I see one.

Henne is no franchise QB. e passed one in Matt Ryan. That is a franchise QB.

How long did Manning, Brady, Favre, Marino, shall I continue? When we say franchise QB we mean one that can lead and win a SUper Bowl. Chad Henne is not that QB. PLain as friggin day when you have been watching football for over 35 years.

We have had nothing here since the great Dan Marino. We know what a franchise QB looks like.

Talk to 49er fans (Alex Smith), Buffalo fans (Trent Edwards). Pocket presence, and looking off safeties are things you better have a decent grasp of after 16 games in the NFL or your done. Henne has had time. 19 games is more than enough for me to see he does not have "it".

I loved Eli by the way....it was evident to me he had it. He looked far better than Henne had in his first 19 games....and I am not talking about stats. Stats' are for losers. I am talkinghave command in the pocket, and the huddle and being able to pick the game up fast.

Henne looks and plays like a robot out there. He has never looked comfortable. I am patient. I labored for 3 years and heard all about Jay Fiedler.

We need to find a franchise QB. And another young RB fast.

Are you kidding me? First 2 turnovers we got inside the red zone......we could not even come out of there with one friggin TD. The play calling of this coaching staff tells me they have barely any confidence he can make plays. It's a joke. And that last drive with just over two minutes left?COme on man....he was awful, the play calling awful. It's a mess.I am tired of excuses. Winners don;t have excuses. Only losers do.

I picked him up and stashed him on the bench because of his playoff schedule. It's amazing.
He sucks.Maybe for fantasy he will get ya stats. But for post season and Super Bowl purposes......forget it.Hope I am wrong.

Is this the same Miami that went 1-15 a few years ago? This is a vast improvement. How many quarterbacks have there been since Marino? It's a ridiculous number, right?Miami needs stability for once at QB. Fix the running game and improve the defense. You doin't want to finish badly enough to draft high enough to get a Ryan or a Manning at this point. Two red zone misses vs Pittsburgh is no great shame. And some of it is a function of the play calling and the lack of a running game. But you should not get so ticked at Phins management for passimg on Ryan, you *should be ticked about them passing on Brees for Culpepper though.

You are not kidding there brother.

P frigin U on that decision. What a monumental mistake. The vast improvement we saw following that 1-15 debacle was great. But our running game was great that year and that made things good. I agree. Our running game is a train wreck this year thus far.

I am not blaming Chad Henne for all of this teams short comings. But when your in the red zone 2 times early in the 4th after 2 huge turnovers you must come out with at least 10 points. To me the game was essentially lost in the first quarter. You had a shot to really take control early and they blew it in typical Dolphins fashion, lousy play calling and the lack of going for the jugular. It has been going on here since 2000. The first year post Marino, This team never goes for the kill, instead our head coach is going wild on the sidelines after we kick FG's like we are wining the Super Bowl. I don't see any confidence by this coaching staff in Chad Henne with the putrid play calling all season thus far.
