Herminator Edwards may have topped himself with this gem. (1 Viewer)

I always loved 'I like to keep it close and TRY and win it in the 4th quarter' but this gem may top it.

Here's what Herm Edwards had to say about his offensive expectations: "If we score 21 points, I'll say, 'Whoa, we scored a lot of points.' Twenty-one points is a lot; 30 points isn't a football game. That's Arena Football. We're talking about real football."

:) idiot.

He's just trying to reduce expectations since it will be few and far between that they reach 30 points.

As a Jet fan I still have to pinch myself that we got rid of him and picked up Leon Washington in the deal!!!!!

KC averaged 22pts/game in '95. Yeah, they were horrible that year, going 13-3.

I don't really think Herm cares how many pts the team scores, as long as they win. Not sure I really see a problem with that, so long as they do win. That's why they've been building up the D.

I'm still amazed that the Chiefs actually traded a draft pick away to GET him. I'd understand it better if the Jets traded a draft pick away to give him to the Chiefs

Ya know...I liked Herm when he first got here in KC. I've tried to defend him numerous times in these forums. But some of the things he's trying to pull off are just too stupid to defend.

First off, your running game is averaging almost 5 yards a pop...but he wants to limit LJ's touches? That's fine and all, but Bennett was very effective as well and he only got what...7 carries?

Huard was not as bad as it looked. He was pretty accurate...it was his WR's that were dropping passes and deflecting the balls to DB's and running wrong routes.

Herm also did another stupid thing and that was cutting Tynes and drafting Medlock without giving Medlock ANY preseason competition. He blindly assumed Medlock was NFL ready. Idiot!

The thing with the head coaches in KC is that you never know how much their hands are tied due to Carl Peterson's ruling thumb. How much of the ineptitude of the offense is Herm's fault coaching or Peterson's personnel that he brings in?

One look at those receivers and I'm thinking a lot of the blame goes to Peterson.

I think it's actually a good thing that Herms hands are tied...... Before the Jets he never even coached one side of the ball - He has no "Systems" and changed both sides of the ball while coaching the Jets....I think he got this job cuz he's buddies with Carl and he's one of the few, if any, "coaches" who would be willing to come to a team, run the systems they already have in place and basically just be the Motivator Puppet.I don't really think you want Herm building a team or being part of a rebuild or picking talent.

How long will it take for KC to wake up. Herm only has the job because he is Carl Peterson's buddy. They should have given the job to Al Saunders.

It's a group effort. The Dwayne Bowe pick was good strategy if you are not interested in scoring. First off, he's got bricks for hands. The eye correction surgery did nothing as we saw this week. Secondly and more important, he is a great blocking WR. Perfect fit for the 3 yards and a cloud of dust Herminator mentality. Peterson makes the choice, Herminator herminates them.

Reporter: "Coach, How do you think your team did today"?

Coach Herm: "Well we didn't block very well.....but we made up for it by not tackling".

(ala coach John Mckay, Tampa Bay Bucs circa 1977)

He was dealing with a stacked deck.

Vermeil and Saunders had left, the offensive line was aging rapidly and the defense was useless.

He hasn't exactly done a lot of good things there, but he hardly inherited a super bowl team.

Let's not forget he got an average Jets team into the playoffs multiple times.

Like most new coaches he should get 3 years to rebuild and then be judged.

I DO like what he's done with the defense. He's brought in some solid contributors via the draft and FA and upgraded in the off-season.They don't have much depth at the CB spot though.

I was all for Herm when hired, good defensive pedigree, worked in KC, etc But it is now the third straight lazy hire by Carl Peterson.

After Marty was tired of Carl's antics, he left, and Carl went the lazy route and promoted Gunther.... 2 mediocre seasons later, Gunther was fired via email, and Carl hired his old buddy **** Vermeil. Carl let **** have control over the coaching staff......knowing DV knew nothing about how to build a defense. After blowing one of the greatest offenses in NFL history, he hired Gunther back to coach the defense, but it is too late, the offense is winding down.

So, DV says he has had enough, and what does Carl do, he hires another old buddy from his Philly and UCLA days, in Herman Edwards. Not only that, but he allows Herm to let Al Saunders' great offensive mind go to Washington and installs a guy in Mike Solari who is an old OL coach whose offense is as vanilla as vanilla yogurt. Inexplicably, Herm gets into the playoffs his first season, but has one of the worst showings EVER in a playoff game.

Not only this, but Calr has sunk dozens of millions of dollars into a TE, albeit a HOFer, and a 28 year old RB who just set the NFL record for carries in a season.

I love Tony Gonzalez, but when your TE is your centerpiece, it is never a good thing.

Carl Peterson was fine in my book until he ran Marty off, and since 1998, KC has only 2 10-win seasons and no playoff wins.

Bravo! :goodposting:This is pretty much the KC scenario in a nutshell!

Sorry about your pick of Larry Johnson. I warned ya though.
I don't own Johnson in any league. It was more a comment about the hypocrisy of you calling anyone an idiot.
Right back at ya. Fact is, I am always right.
Says the guy who incorrectly thought I owned Larry Johnson.
Can't even figure out that joke can ya? I'll spell it out. You come in with a lame pot/kettle comment so I come back with 'the only reason to make that statement is because you foolishly took LJ in the draft' as there is no other answer for your statement.

I know it was edited for TV but Herm is an absolute  in that HBO: Hard Knocks show. They are having a supposed QB competition and in the most important preseason game, Huard is out with a calf injury and Brodie Croyle goes 3-14. They are forced to give the job to Huard.

Their rookie kicker is a disaster.

Their 1st round pick comes in late and is crying about being picked on by the veterans.

His DC can only swear and cuss but when it comes to coaching D he is lacking.

KC is in for a LONG year.

Sorry for the hijack, but I heard a rumor from a friend who worked in the KC front office that the reason Marty left KC was because he knocked up a cheerleader and his wife said either resign or lawyer up 'cause I'll divorce your ###. Any truth to that?

No, I'll spell it out for you. The reason to make the statement is that you are an idiot, and for you to call someone else an idiot is like a pot calling a kettle black. Hence, the smiley.
