Hernandez Owners (1 Viewer)

I'm sure I'm not the only one here faced with the question of what you plan to do once Hernandez starts playing again. I picked up Bennett, but there are other guys that were also picked up that are currently in the top 10 of TE production so far like Heath Miller, Rudolph, Pitta and Celek.

I guess I will try and hold both until I see who is doing better and then try to trade the other guy. But I was just wondering what other Hernandez owners have in mind.

I plan on thanking God. 14 team league with Moeki as my other and really nothing to be had on WW, easy decision, put him in the lineup.

I plan on dropping my 2nd TE that I had to pick up and picking up a player that can actually help me.

same boat as you where i was able to pick up Bennett with a high priority, and am thinking the same thing, i really like my team from top to bottom though so there is a chance i hang on to Bennett just in case Hernandez goes down again.

This is definitely a good question, as WW TEs have been plentiful this year. We cannot however forget that Hernandez quite easily posses the largest skill set out of any current player at his position. Sure, we have absolute end zone beasts like Graham, Gronk, Rudolph, Bennett, Miller and etc. We also have great pass catching TEs like Gonzo, Celek, Pitta, Olsen, Pettigrew (not sure on him haha). I am buy no means saying the aforementioned players are one dimensional, but none are nearly as versatile as Hernandez and IMO he's in a league of his own. A healthy Hernandez should always be in your starting line-up. If you were lucky enough to have grabbed Bennett, Pitta and etc, trade em off or hold them for depth.

I'll trade either Hernandez or Rudolph to whoever wants either one, and keep the other. I'm fine letting the other guy pick which he wants. I don't think there's going to be enough of a difference in points per week that it'll matter who I trade if I can get back a better return by upgrading another position.

All I know is I definitely can't afford the roster space to keep both once week 7 hits.

I think you may be in for a rude awakening if you think that Rudolph and Hernandez are going to produce similar points consistently once Hernandez gets fully healthy.

Can't tell which one you think is the clear better option.

Hernandez. Rudolph's value comes in the redzone, which I don't see the Viking's spending enough time in this year for him to be worth it. Also I don't see the Viking's just deciding that Rudolph is the go-to endzone play when they have AP on the team. Every game that Rudolph has scored, Peterson hasn't and vice versa. Hernandez has value between the 20's as well and plays in an offense that is productive enough that he is still a threat to score even if you factor in Gronk.Rudolph had 5 rec for 35 yards but two scores in week 3. You expect to see that every week?

Hernandez is on a different level than Rudolph. Hernandez is capable of 100 yards and a score every game. Rudolph is worthless unless he scores a TD.

Just to add onto what everyone said, the gap between the top performing TEs and everyone else is is the largest it's ever been. Don't be fooled into thinking all TEs are performing the same since many TEs are performing "above-average". If you've owned one of the top 5 TEs in PPG so far, you've had the largest TE advantage in the history of fantasy football.

Rudolph isn't apart of the top 5 even with his TD count.

My concern is that NE seems to be less productive than years past. Maybe that's due to Hernandez being out, but it seems they've lost the top gear on offense.

Rudolph's value is TD heavy, but with Ponders roll out ability, I expect him to look for Rudolph often in the RZ.

Hernandez is better than Rudolph no doubt but every year we have to adjust to new realities. The owners who operate on last years assumptions too long are the ones who find themselves behind in the beginning of the year playing catch up with the new reality.

Vikes are better than last year. NE seems more pedestrian. This is my assumption of 'new reality'. Not saying Vikes are better than NE but the gap is smaller than last year.

I didn't say similar. I said that the difference between two TEs might not outweigh the difference between a scrub I'm forced to start and who I can get in a trade to replace him at another position. For example, let's say you think Hernandez will outscore Rudolph by 5 points per game, on average. Yet I can trade Hernandez for a 7 points-per-game upgrade to who I start as my flex RB. Wouldn't that trade be worth it?

I hate having this guy sitting on my bench without having ANY IDEA when he's going to return. It's like a ticking time bomb. He might come back next week, or the week after next, or he might be out all year.

There is a part of me who wants to cut him just to eliminate the uncertainty.
