Assume the following:
1) You know WITH CERTAINTY that one player has a 50% shot at 20 pts, and a 50% shot at 0 pts. We'll call him "High Ceiling".
2) You know WITH CERTAINTY that the other guy will score 10 pts 100% of the time. He's "High Floor".
3) Total points for the year matter in your league.
So, both guys are projected to have 10 pts for the week. Which one do you start in each of the three situations?
This may be fairly obvious and thus won't spark a lot of discussion, but it's a core issue in a lot of WDIS situations - for example, a PPR RB3 who is good for a few receptions a week at a minimum vs. a boom/bust WR in a flex spot.
