High Stakes Drafting - Trends and Other Useful Info (1 Viewer)

You have no idea. LOL

I saw today that the guy who won FFPC's main event has 40, yes 40, entries in the FFPC main event. That is $60,000 right there.
Holy crap!  I know a lot  people do 80+ leagues and that kind of thing but I never knew someone did 40 main events.

I hate it by the way but it is what it is. I liked the old early days of high stakes so much more when doing 2 main event entries was considered extravagant but those days are over.

Not that anyone cares, but I just got a little crazy.  My first 5 rounds:  L. Bell, Gronk, D. Cook, G. Olsen, J. Reed

I guess I just stared my own trend.
My starting lineup as of now:

Wilson

L. Bell

D. Cook

C. Coleman

Golladay

Gronk

Reed

Olsen

Crosby

CAR

key bench players:

D. Henry, J. Charles, D. Foreman

C. Davis, T. Benjamin, C. Hogan, M. Williams

Doing another high stakes draft as we speak, 3rd round just finished.

Couple of new observations:

Zeke went 1.09

K. Benjamin went 3.11

Ugh, I would be so incredibly unhappy with that roster.  Hate being FORCED to flex certain people and you have no choice but to double flex tight ends.  Pretty sure Hogan is starting for you over Golladay or Coleman too.

Interesting. When I go into a draft with flex options I don't think of those extra spots as Flex, rather draft BPA and lock in my starting roster. I like having a definitive starting 10. I treat them as 'Flex' only when necessary like for injuries or bye weeks. I don't like having questionable starters. The flexibility is nice but it causes uncertainty and instability within my starting lineup. So while you consider it 'forced', I chose and prefer it that way. In short, yes, this team turned into a 'start 3 TE team' and I like it that way. The team I drafted last night is a 'start 4 RB team'.

I have 6 teams in this contest, all from a 6 spot or later draft position. 3 of them from the 12 hole, so I lack high end power, but I have some fairly solid squads!

Good luck all

Interesting about the start 4 RB team, was it an early pick? Like 1 or 2? Only a few of my teams will have 3 RB's in the starting lineup.

No. Actually for the 4 RB team, I drafted from the 6 spot. Grabbed Evans there and went 4 straight RBs after that. In order, DeMarco Murray, Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon and Ameer Abdullah. I grabbed Russell Wilson in the 6th. My other starting WR i Corey Coleman (9th).

I find the WR's go early and often in this contest, so I can see the value in the RB's. I try to have 3 by the end of the 6th rnd on most occasions.

I did a FBG draft last night and that TE premium stuff really throws a kink on the draft board, I loved it!

Bump for 2018.  Getting ready to start my 4th high stakes draft of the year.  Will update this later with trends and useful info.

Out of 4 drafts, i've netted the following picks (in order):

1.01 - Gurley

1.02 - Elliott

1.08 - Hopkins

1.01 (TODAY) - Gurley (probably)

First 2 rounds pretty chalk with 13 RBs going on average in the first 2 rounds (groin always goes late 2nd).  Love the value of Derrick Henry, I have him in 3/4 and got him mid-late 4th round each time. Top 7 TEs (Reed usually last in that group) are gone after 6 rounds completed.  Rogers goes in the 2nd or 3rd every time then Watson and Wilson by round 6 or so.  If you don't need one of those 3 QBs, you can wait until whenever really.  I got Luck in round 9 and Wilson in others.  Cortland Sutton not really on radars yet.  He goes between rounds 12-18.  I took him in 2 drafts, rounds 12 and 13.  RBs go quick, imo.  Bad year to go zero RB if that's your thing.  JAC defense goes in round 9 or 10 every draft. I have them myself in 2/4.

Anything y'all wanna know?
