Highest Single Game for Fantasy Points Scored (1 Viewer)

This year we've had some huge games out several guys: Brandon Marshall's 21 catch game; Drew Brees' 6TD game in week 1 & his game vs. NE; Chris Johnson's 300+ yard game vs. HOU

I was wondering which players, QB and non-QB, had the highest point total ever for a single game ever (standard scoring used here on the FBG's site).

The first non-QB that comes to mind is Gale Sayers' 6 TD game on 12/12/65 vs. SF

According to pro-football reference his stat line was:

113 yards rushing

89 yards receiving

5 TD's (4 rushing & 1 receiving)

2 receptions

134 total return yards (punt only)

1 TD return

By my count that is 56.2 points - not including the punt return yardage and the 2 receptions. Not bad for a non-QB on a cold muddy day at Wrigley Field.

For QB's my first thought was Norm Van Brocklin's record setting game back in the '50's; but here is a stat line for a former NY Giant QB that looks like the highest combined:

According to pro-football reference:

505 passing yards

7 TD passes

1 yard rushing

By my count that is 53.35 points in a system scoring 4 pts/passing TD (and is over 67 points fantasy if you are counting passing TD's as 6 points!).

Oops - forgot to mention the QB was Y. A. Tittle on 10/28/62 vs. Washington

What are some other all-time games fantasy for non-QB's?

1962 and 1965 references? Hey, Joe! That was a livetime ago.

(I'm fairly old and never sat Van Brocklin or Tittle play. I do recall Van Brocklin as the Vikings and Falcons coach, however.)

There was a game a few years ago where Jimmy Smith got 3 long TDs. In that league with our scoring system he got around 51 pionts.

I don't know but there were a few games where Priests Holmes went nuts with the TDs as well as amazing yards and catches. He singlehandedly won many a game for his owners.

I had Norm on the bench that day. Rotoworld had him as doubtful as late as Friday. :lmao:

Jimmy went 15 for 291 and 3 TDs. And it was against one of the better defenses of all time, the 2000 Ravens defense.

I started Bobby Layne but I still won in my two team league.

Making the playoffs must have been a dream come true.

What about when DeAngelo had a couple of Abe Lincolns last year?

Guess not alot of yards...

week 13 @GB: 21 carries, 72 yards, 4 TD, 3 catches 14 yards == 7.2 + 24 + 3 (PPR) + 1.4= 39.2 points

week 16 @NYG: 24 carries, 108 yds, 4 TD == 10.8 + 24 == 34.8 points

Billy Cannon had 330 yards from scrimmage, 5 TDs and 5 receptions in a game in 1961 -- that's a 68 FP day.

Jerry Rice went 13/225/5 against the Falcons - 65.5

Jimmy Smith against the '00 Ravens -- 15/291/3 = 62.1

Rice with another big game, this time against Minnesota - 14/289/3, with 10 rushing yards = 61.9

Then you have a 21 year old Jerry Butler with 12 rushing yards, 10 catches, 255 receiving yards and 4 TDs = 60.7

Kevin Curtis and Brian Westbrook each had over 45 FP for the Eagles against the Lions in '07.

Dec 7, 2003 - Clinton Portis vs. KC - 218 yards rushing, 5 TDs and 2 receptions for 36 yards. PPR = 56. He was in my line-up, thankfully.

The highest we've had in our league to date is the day Shaun Alexander had 5 TDs.
Was that the Sunday (or maybe Monday) night game? I had him on the bench for that one. :lmao:
It was a Sunday night game. I had him in my lineup. He only scored a bit over 50 points that night. However, with our adjusted scoring today, he got around 66 points which just barely edges Portis' 5 TD game. I ended up trading Alexander away about 4 weeks later straight up for Jamal Lewis. That move won the super bowl for me that year. Yeah, I know you don't care. I'm just rambling.

In our 10 year league these players have all scored over 100 points:

2003 Wk 14 109.8 points Clinton Portis 22 rushes 218 yards 5 td 2 rec 36 yards

2007 Wk 02 102.1 points Carson Palmer 33 / 50 401 yards 6 td 2 int

2007 Wk 09 102 points Adrian Peterson MIN 30 rushes 296 yards 3 td 1 rec 19 yards

2009 Wk 06 101 points Tom Brady 29 / 34 380 yards 6 td 0 int

2002 Wk 12 100.4 points Priest Holmes 23 rushes 197 yards 2 td 7 rec 110 yards 1 td

2004 Wk 08 100.2 points Peyton Manning 25 / 44 472 yards 5 td 1 int

We obviously have an unusual scoring system, but the average weekly score per team is about 170 to 200 points per week. Obviously when 1 guy goes off for 100 it's all over but the crying.

I just checked the big Flipper Anderson game...disappointing...15 catches for 336 yards...but only 1 TD.
I just checked out Flipper's lifetime and game stats. This guy had quite possibly the great breakout game for any non-stud player in the history of any sport. He was pretty average for his career save for this one game.

In my long-time main PPR league(dates back to 1999, but we only have records from 2004-present) the highest output ever overall in our scoring system was from a non-QB....it was from the Seahawks D/STs back in 2005. They hung 3 returns for touchdowns, 5 or 6 turnovers, plus a handful of sacks on the Eagles and shut them out on MNF in week 13 that year. In our scoring system that netted them 58 points. And they scored 'em all on that owner's bench. He was incensed.

2nd on the list is Chris Johnson's week 2 performance from this year at 57.4. Rounding out the top 5 are Adrian Peterson's 55.5 from '07(tied w/Brady from earlier this year), Tom Brady's 55.16 from '07 and Drew Friggin' Bennett's 55 from 2004.

Was just looking up this game ~56 points in a ppr league. Best FF win I've ever had as I was down 50 points to my brother going into SNF and Alexander was the only player left for either squad. The fact that he did it all in the first half is amazing.

Actually, yeah, it is only 57.6 points. We've had two higher than that, then:Portis's 5 TD game: 62.4Johnson's game against Houston: 59.9Shaun Alexander 5 TD game: 57.6

If I am not mistaken, Corey Dillon had the most prolific FF day for a rookie (not sure where it stands all time). Funny, I put him in my lineup against my nemesis last minute when we had to call in our lineups...it was downright hilarious.

39 rushes for 246 yards and 4 TDs; 2 catches for 30 yards. I am not sure what FBG scoring is, but I am guessing this puts him at 51.6 points. I believe he broke Jim Brown's single game rookie rushing record that night.
