History of the World Part 2 (1 Viewer)

I'll just say two things. One, comedy is contextual. The writer has to understand time and place and what will pass for funny and what won't. Second, good comics are like poets or rock musicians. They're best when they're young and anxious and things are urgent. Aside from Rodney Dangerfield and Bob Newhart, I can't think of a comic that aged well. By "aged well" I mean wasn't a basic version of their prior uproarious self.

Are you a stand up philosopher now?

He may just be nuts.

N V T S nuts!

This might be one of the exceptions, but Rock is pretty much right about the best stuff coming early in careers. Still looking forward to it though.

Sweet. If nothing else, will be an opportunity to rewatch Part I.

Odds on "Jews...in...Space!" making an appearance in the first scene?

Not yet. I'm heading to visit my brother for spring break next week so I'm going to wait and watch with him.

I watched Part 1 over the weekend (the 1981 movie, not episode 1 of the new series). It had a few laughs and a great cast but a lot of the gags were obvious and dated.

Liked both episodes last night. Seems like it's more of Part I, with more contemporary gags. I enjoyed it. Mostly just silly with several LOL moments mixed in.

Especially one like this where the creators set out to make something exceedingly offensive.
I have no idea where you got this idea from.

"Following Brooks' advice to fearlessly make dirty jokes, Barinholtz said he encouraged the show's creators to make, in his words, the "stupidest, offensive, dumb, fun show" that people could enjoy."

I liked the first episode. Definitely more on the silly end with chuckles and occasional lol’s as you put it. Kama Souptra and Romanov bits had me cracking up :rolling:

Liked the contemporary & anachronisms gags like Anastasia being a TikTok influencer for example or Mel Brooks being digitally de-aged. Can’t wait to watch the rest, just the massive amount of celebrity cameo’s is fun and reminds me of enjoying the first few seasons of Drunk History episodes.

I was pretty much going to write the same thing. It was exactly what I expected, got some decent chuckles, especially during the scenes mentioned above.
