Hold your breath Brandon Marshall owners! (1 Viewer)

IMO Marshall at least gets what Henry did (4 games). I expect it will be more though. 6 games?

When Rod Smith attended the meeting Brandon Marshall had with Roger Goodell, Rod Smith was acting as his "Mentor" and implied it had a positive impact on the outcome of the meeting. I was expecting a heavy suspension (8-10 game range), but now after hearing some of the comments Rod Smith had to say about his efforts in building solid young men in the Denver program, I think it will be only 4 games.

If Brandon Marshall turns it straight with the help of his mentor, he will be given the chance to succeed.

4 Games IMO is appropriate for it. Give the kid a chance.

 I thought that same thing when I heard Smith was there. As another poster said, I think this might be tough because the DUI hasn't been resolved yet and you can't really suspend a guy and then add to it or subtract from it after that is resolved.Does anyone else think maybe the rumor about a suspension being announced was wrong, and that maybe Goodell will wait for the DUI case to be resolved, possibly suspending Marshall during the season?

Yep. He ran someone over and fled the scene before he know if and how badly they were hurt. When he got caught, he denied it and only confessed when he knew he was busted. Sounds pretty bad to me. If he had killed the person with his car instead of just injuring them, he would have gone to prison. Lynch had no idea how much damage he did and showed a total disregard to human life, but hey, since the charges were dropped and it was only "one incident", it's all good. If they were even considering a suspension for Marshall, they should have given Lynch twice that amount.........
And if we apply the same "guilty until proven innocent" rule to Lynch as others here are applying to Marshall, then Lynch MUST have been hiding some other illegal activity if he fled the scene. Ciga-weed? Cocaine from Matt Jones?

I may be wrong but I believe the DUI would not fall under the conduct policy but rather the substance abuse program. The resolution of that shouldn't have any bearing here.

any idea on when a decision will actually be made or is Goodell too busy trying to figure out how to reinstate retired players?

I am surprised this has not resolved itself yet. Seems that if a decision doesn't come down today, it won't happen till next week.

Off topic...

Any chance the NFL takes into account Marshall's actions on the night Darrent Williams was killed?

I wish I remember where I read it, but I've seen rumors that some in the Broncos organization claim Marshall's actions that night contributed to Williams' death

Your thinking Javon Walker.

U sure? I'm pretty sure it was Marshall who was acting a fool which lead to the altercation

It was Javon who was there, but it wasn't his actions that 'may' have led to the incident. the only thing I have read is that it was players spraying champagne that may have incited the shooting, and no one has claimed it was Walker.

Just from a quick google search, I found these two storys...From HBO real sports

``Real Sports'' said another Broncos receiver, Brandon Marshall, and his cousin were partying with Williams' group that night and began spraying champagne around, ``some of which hit a club patron and his friend, who confronted Williams and his entourage.''Those men flashed gang signs and were escorted out of the club, said members of a rap group from Williams' hometown of Fort Worth, Texas, who were with him that night.Walker said he didn't see the encounter inside the club but saw trouble brewing when he left at closing time. Marshall and his cousin were exchanging heated words with two men, he said. The rappers said it was the same men who had been kicked out of the club earlier that night. After Williams and Walker both tried to intervene, Williams told Walker to ride with him in his Hummer limousine, and they drove off into the night, Walker said.Less than a mile away, Walker said he was turning up the music when Williams suddenly fell into his lap.Walker said he pushed Williams away and told him to quit messing around - and that's when he saw blood spurting from Williams' neck and heard the other gunshots.
From RockyMountainNews
Williams rented a Hummer limousine to celebrate New Year's Eve 2007 with friends who were in town from Texas. They went to Club Safari, a nightclub on Broadway, to attend a birthday party for Denver Nuggets player Kenyon Martin. They were joined by Broncos players Javon Walker and Brandon Marshall, as well as Marshall's cousin. It was just hours after the team's season-ending loss. Also at the club that night were Clark and other members of his gang, law enforcement sources have said.Walker told HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel that a disagreement broke out between Marshall and his cousin and at least two other men.The source who provided the letter to the Rocky said Clark told him that the men were talking trash - the athletes and their friends bragging that they had the money to rent out a bar, the gang members giving the players a hard time about losing to the lowly San Francisco 49ers.At some point, someone in the crowd that included Broncos players said "f--- you" to the gang members, according to the account the source said he heard from Clark."And then you know of course, the gang is not going to be disrespected by no means and that's a disrespect," the source said.Williams, Walker and others left the club around 2 a.m. in the Hummer limo. As they drove near 11th Avenue and Speer Boulevard, someone fired at least a dozen shots from a white Chevy Tahoe, police said.

Ever spray a gang member and tell him to F-off? I'm not pointing my finger at Marshall for the death of Williams. I don't know what happened there. All I am saying is that there might be some in the organization and maybe the NFL that do.I was just curious to hear if others thought this incident might come into play for the suspension.

Hearing word now that Steve Smith will get suspended for 2 games for punching his teammate, a grown man of equal size and strength. Yet the Broncos haven't suspended Marshall for constantly pounding on his girlfriend, throwing rocks at his girlfriends sisters car, driving drunk, stalking people. The Broncos need to grow a pair and suspend this guy for a minimum of 8 weeks and then let Goodell have a go...

All I can say is that Marhsall can't be blamed for that death, someone pulled the trigger, he didn't. I see a suspension of 4 games.

i'm convinced. if Smith gets suspended by the league for this, i may stop watching the NFL
Not by the league, this is a team issue. The team is considering a suspension.

And it isn't confirmed anywhere in the news.Link from 3 hours ago

So far, the Panthers have made no decision on receiver Steve Smith after he punched teammate Ken Lucas in practice on Friday.
So what you're hearing apparently isn't correct at this time.ESPN (Beantown's cited source in the ALL CAPS THREAD) has not reported a suspension either.

watching sportscenter this morning and while vague, the sportscaster said "Smith could be suspended for up to 4 games for violating the collective bargaining agreement for conduct detrimental to the team."

ETA: sorry, I thought I was in the smith thread

They were both with Williams that night. The story I've heard was that it was Marshall jawing with some gangbangers that got it started.
