Home movies convert to a DVD (1 Viewer)

Had some super 8 cassettes(family videos) that I had converted over to a flash drive.  Now I need to convert the flash drive to a DVD.  Anyone here do this?  Can I edit some stuff on the flash drive while converting over to the DVD or just put everything on a DVD & then edit that?  Or edit the flash drive before converting to DVD?  Some free downloads out there to do this or would I be better off paying for DVD creator?  This stuff on the flash drive is irreplaceable & don't want to screw this up & have a feeling I will :loco: .  The editing stuff is very important(get your mind out of the gutter-no porn involved).  If there is already a thread on this please point it out.

Any advice is appreciated.

You ought to be able to copy onto DVD from any computer that has a CD/DCV Drive that is 'rewrite-able.' (RW) Meaning that if a drive can read from and copy data onto a cd or DVD disc.

As far as the editing, there are tons of programs for that. Since I am all Apple I use a program called iMovie that comes as part of MacOS. Someone from the Windows crowd will have to give you recommendations for editing programs. You probably should be able to find one cheap or even free.

The tricky part was getting the videos digital from the cassettes onto the flash drive. From there it is downhill! (easy!)

Agree with the above.  The analog to digital (you've already done that) is the most complicated part.  Now it's just digital data from one medium to another.

Editing... thats hard to say , because it depends on what you want to do.  If you just want to do something simple.... high level dicing (split a long file into a couple smaller files or add some titles or dates to some sections), you can probably find some software to do that.

But, if you want some really specific or intricate editing...you may want to have an professional do that for you.
