Homeland (3 Viewers)

I could deal with the Quinn thing. A bit far fetched, but not that bad compared to most everything else from that episode. My prediction is that some Israel dude is gonna snipe the sniper that has a target on Carrie. Saul to the rescue. Maybe Carrie and Saul knew Allison was bad and that was the point of all of this. To draw out her helpers? Wait, we already did that with Crazy Carrie undercover in the hospital. I haven't exactly bought the Dar-Saul fights and I think he's in on the plan also. Maybe that's also why the documents got leaked. To set Allison in motion? It's all bit far fetched but now I'm talking myself into it. The plane explosion and the guy in Amsterdam are the only things that don't exactly fit. Maybe.
it's coming from inside your head

I was into it this season- but the Quinn terrorist coincidence and Saul blabbing away when he knows somebody is a mole/spy... straight out of the loopily bad 24 playbook. I'm waiting for the following two things to happen: a mountain lion to stalk Carrie... a freelancer to come into the CIA and be the mastermind.
I kind of get Saul blabbing away to his girlfriend. She is a major upgrade over his ex-wife.

You may be on to something.

What's the deal with Carrie's boss lying to both Carrie and her boyfriend?
That's the big riddle. Does he like, like Carrie? Is he a bad guy? Is he really a good guy and will save the day at the end? These seem to be the possibilities.

Okay, stupid question. When Allison realized that she'd been caught in a sting by the Russian, she cursed in what sounded like a foreign language. I thought the reveal of the episode was that rather than being a Russian agent for her entire career, it was the sting and threat of blackmail that turned an American agent into a spy for Russia. But if that's the case, the foreign cursing seems really out of place. Did I hear it wrong? Or have I misunderstood Allison's background?

I read she cursed in Hebrew.

Not sure of that significance.

huh.. I just figured it was arabic- or whatever language her stud dude spoke

This season is really bad (after a promising start). If this was season 1 and we did not already know the characters and have interest in them, I doubt the show would get renewed. I'll watch the rest of this season but not sure I'll watch future seasons unless it really turns around.

So I gave up after last season. Is this season worth a viewing
Big time!

No
So Big Time No?

I'm confused as to why they bothered to go through all the hassle of bringing Quinn with them to "Syria" when all they wanted to do was pick up weapons to go back to Germany where they could poison Quinn. Did they change their minds half way through the trip or did they not believe they had enough support in Germany to keep Quinn captive (so brought him along to keep track of him)?

Really enjoying this season, which is shocking. Best since first season.

Dar has to be the dumbest person to ever be that high up in the CIA. That guy falls for everything. Terrible that they're making his character look so dumb all the time.

Dar slow plays everything. They never actually showed that he believed Alison. He's usually right (or his version of right) in the end.

Dar has been in on Allison since the beginning? The whole discrediting Saul thing was an act? That seems like a huge stretch.

I meant at this point Dar knows what she is but will use it.

Alright just watched last night's episode. Still good but can't believe they're letting Allison be involved at all. She's a traitor. They all know it. Dar can't be that gullible.

Yeah, I don't get it. I don't know how these things work, but you'd have to think that an accused traitor with so much "circumstantial" evidence against her, that they'd play it safe and keep her out of it.

Still enjoying this season a lot.

I like the Alison story-line but agree that going from suspected traitor to santa's little helper seems unlikely.

the Quinn just happening to get mixed up with terrorists angle... straight from the dregs of 24. I also love little cliched bits like when German intelligence needed to search for these guys in one of 23 spots, they send Carrie and the senior german agent (kinda hot- right?) instead of legions of heavily armed cops and jr agents.

(Yes, I'm watching this season - for some reason it showed up on the DVR so I decided to try it after not seeing a minute of S4.)

First, Astrid the German Intelligence Agent is definitely what I would call EuroHot. Good call.

And, yeah, the whole Quinn Plot Contrivance was weak, as was Carrie finding him as opposed to someone else - I think it was 39 addresses, BTW - but it paid off in satisfying ways, and they didn't kill him.

Allowing Allison anything more than a toothbrush at this point is ridiculous.

I also love that German blonde. My wife and I were laughing that Carrie and her ended up there together. They could have at least said "this is the third address we checked, hopefully we find something."

Plot contrivances or no, I'm enjoying this season much more than the last couple.
Agreed completely. The show feels rejuvenated this year in a way that it has not since the first half of Season 2 honestly.
:goodposting:

Funny how this thread is now dead.
I think most of the people bailed, tbh.

but yeah- this season is better than it has been. the alison story-line has been pretty solid. plus, much less quiver-lipping from carrie.

Quinn is going to have the worst case of PTSD in history. Damn. That guy has been beat all to hell with all of the #### he's been through. Seconds away from killing himself after being shot and bleeding out, only to be rescued by a terrorist who almost kills him at their house, then later hits him in the head with a bat and tries to kill him with poisonous gas while filming it. Poor guy should get a medal or something

Would enjoy a little more random dude banging Carrie off her meds

She has a season's worth of lip quivering in this episode I'm pretty sure my tv was shaking.

Good on Saul for cracking Allison against the wall. Was hoping for a nice forearm shiver to knock her cold.

How many guys is Allison sleeping with? Like my dad used to say: "If she had as many sticking out of her, that she's had stuck in her, she would look like a porcupine".

So there was supposed to be something significant about the lady walking the dog across the street from Allison when she was standing in front of some building, right?

I have no problem with how the Allison situation has played out. A chemical weapons threat in a major city is a far more pressing issue then whether or not Allison is a traitor. She's the station chief there with ties to that Russia dude that has intel that they need. Another strong episode. Such a good season.

definitely. she's signalling either alison to help her escape, or whoever is about to nuke alison.
