Hot Take: German Chocolate Cake Is The Best Cake (1 Viewer)

Since you seem to be the resident dessert expert where would you slot dessert bars?  Some are garbage but a scotcheroo or a good lemon bar can holds it's own amongst other top tier desserts.
Lemon Bars should be in with Brownies IMO and should be higher up the list.

Lemon bars would go probably right around the same level as an ice cream sandwich, with each being 3a or 3b depending on the weather or my mood.

As edibles your list is pretty sound, as accoutrement to sexual hijinks, not so much.  Then you have to give a large bump to pudding and whipped toppings, and a small bump to Jello.

Look at me, telling you something you already know.
And a big drop to Kale.

Pig knuckles.... well, obviously that depends on the situation.

As far as the whole cake thing goes, I once had the moistest and best tasting chocolate cake that only had the lightest glaze of glazed frosting.  Almost like a sealant.  Too bad they all are not that good.

I’m fairly confident that I wouldn’t eat cake, by itself, without frosting. That’s crazy talk.
Man, you haven't had cake until you've had a chocolate, lemon, butter, or a sour cream pound cake without frosting. If made right none of those cakes need frosting. I'm sure there are plenty of others.

I may have to pull out my Nannie's Chocolate Pound Cake recipe and make a cake.

I have no problem with the title of this thread although the red velvet cheese cake thing that was trend for a while is ridiculously good as well.  Also, Susie Cakes has one called the "birthday celebration" is one of the best cakes I"ve ever had as well.

Is Susie Cakes a national chain?

Those are my top 3.

I’m not a big cake fan as it is so I’ll pass. If I can put it in a bowl and dump some ice cream on it then heck yeah!

My love of other desserts, pies, Schaum torte, seven layer bars does not, in any way, negate the point that there is a king of cakes, and that king is German Chocolate.  Those of you who are advocating Red Velvet, well I am certain it probably goes well as a compliment to your viewing of men's synchronized swimming as your preferred sports viewing.
Wr should probably also let those Red Velvet people know that Elvis is dead, the Loch Ness monster is a myth and Star Wars is not a documentary.

I’ll take a well made Carrot Cake over anything ...

... and when it’s “well made” the cake is moist, and the frosting reminds you of a cheesecake.

German Chocolate is good ... but isn’t on my list

Okay carrot cake people, Seriously?

Are your favorite breads zucchini and sweet? Are your favorite oysters Rocky Mountain? Is head your favorite cheese? Lamb your favorite fries? Mince your favorite meat?

Come on people get with the program. We're trying to have a serious conversation here.

that's where I'm at now (north county SD) but I first discovered the magic in San Francisco (Marina)
Oh, okay neighbor. In that case they just opened a Susie Cakes at One Paseo across from the Del Mar Heights shopping center. There is also one in La Costa Town Square.

Have you had a well made carrot cake?

.. it’s really one of the best things ever.

Not everyone breathes out of their mouth and enjoys “birthday cake” for fun

If I’m in the right frame of mind I do love a good carrot cake.  But the ratio of good carrot cakes to horrible carrot cakes that make me want to Ralph is not good.

If you are so convinced this is true then why are you calling it a Hot Take?  Isn’t a Hot Take just someone’s opinion?
