"Dr. Buffer...what is going on? What are you not telling us?"
"He's a janitor????"
"He's a janitor????"

This was actually based on a true story from 2 girls that were in a car accidentI'm never sure how realistic all the CSI and medical stuff are on TV today but the more mistakes this guy makes the more I figure it's closer to being realistic. If it's not, things like that giant worm/parasite coming out of a body at least seem fascinating.Last night's nothing wrong except....well they've got the wrong person was pretty weird. There's a mistake you don't expect hospitals to make.I either love or hate his "wise" attitude each week. Either way that's entertaining.

Very good point. I have the same minor complaint. Last night's surprise was pretty cool, though. My main complaint with this show is that you never have any chance to "play along", so to speak. Part of the fun of a mystery is that you might have a shot at figuring it out before the protagonist does. not so with this show. The condition / palsy / syndrome / parasite always comes out of left field.

Isn't that his last name? There doesn't appear to be a city named House in the state of Maryland.![]()
No, that's where the show is set. I think it's supposed to be just outside Baltimore.Isn't that his last name? There doesn't appear to be a city named House in the state of Maryland.![]()
Yes they arehttp://www.imdb.com/tvgrid/2007-10-05/2300#USAHopefully USA still replays the episodes on Friday night.
Wow looks like there is a new director quite often.I got the feeling a new director was doing the show this season. The camera work seemed very differant.
Well last night he didn't have any misdiagnoses. Every treatment he used worked. But in other episodes he has misdiagnosed patients. You have to remember that House specializes in cases that other doctors couldn't figure out. I'm sure that if you looked at similar cases in real life, you'll see that treatments for several different diagnoses were used before being solved. I'm not saying that it's very realistic, but in cases like this, misdiagnoses are likely. My main complaint is that it seems unrealistic. Don't get me wrong: I love the show. But take this week: She's misdiagnosed, what, twice or three times before he gets it right? Who's running to see a doctor like that? What hospital keeps him employed?
A patient comes into the hospital with certain symptoms, and doctors know while those symptoms could mean a zillion different things, 90% of the time it's just diagnosis A. So they run a test and find out is isn't that. So they say, "no problem, because when it isn't A it's either B or C. So they run the tests for those and they come back negative. Now they realize that it's not a common illness at all. Instead, it's something incredibly rare, which they never see, and only read about in textbooks, and probably will have no way of diagnosing before the patient dies. So they say "Calling Dr. House!!!" That's the premise of the show. It's just that we never see the first doctors flailing away in futility. My main complaint is that it seems unrealistic. Don't get me wrong: I love the show. But take this week: She's misdiagnosed, what, twice or three times before he gets it right? Who's running to see a doctor like that? yesBTW I agree with the above poster that this episode was one of the best everI've never seen this show before but tuned in last night. House just reeming all the different applicants was hilarious. Kal Penn as applicant #6 was hilarious, especially when he got fired then showed up later with his number turned upside down to 9. "You didn't fire me, you fired #6!" It was great seeing his former employees messing with him too, "You saw so and so? But she moved to Arizona!' Turns out she was working in the hospital.
Is this show always so fast paced and quick with the dialogue? I had a hard time catching everything that was going on.
Guess I need to get a Tivo. Favorite applicants:Kal Penn - already stated why, but the crash cart in the hyperbaric chamber was hilarious tooyesBTW I agree with the above poster that this episode was one of the best everI've never seen this show before but tuned in last night. He wants to be a doctor. He's taken all the classes a med student would.I dont understand that old guy's role. He didnt go to medical school? So why was he in the class?
But from my understanding those other people in the room WERE doctors. He wants to be a doctor. He's taken all the classes a med student would.I dont understand that old guy's role. He didnt go to medical school? So why was he in the class?
lied on his applicationI dont understand that old guy's role. He didnt go to medical school? So why was he in the class?
So far, he's one of the most interesting characters. And until the very end of the episode, no one thought he wasn't a doctor. But from my understanding those other people in the room WERE doctors. He wants to be a doctor. ...and from that last conversation I am going to presume he sticks as a regular. Maybe not on the "team" but my guess is he will be around in some position.Anyone know the comment that House made when he saw the twins in the classroom? I was going to back it up but and listen again but never got around to it. I am sure it was good.So far, he's one of the most interesting characters. you mean when they were arguing? He said something like, "You are both right, that is why I know you are both wrong" or something like that....and from that last conversation I am going to presume he sticks as a regular. You're distracting all the men and lesbians in the class. Something like that.No it was something about twin and lesbian fantasies
I was just coming here to comment that she was HOT! Hope she sticks around a bit. Cameron looked good too.Guess I need to get a Tivo. Old dude - had a recurring role on SG1, liked his banter with House. "How old are you?" "21"
Mormon guy - not sure why, just thought the actor was strong even though he didn't have much to do
Hated:
Token hot chick - she seems a shoe-in to get one of the spots, just seemed like the token hot chick with nothign much to add
Cocky chick - seemed to be trying her best to channel Chloe from 24, I'd guess she's one of the last ones cut and blows up somehow
That line was awesum. You're distracting all the men and lesbians in the class. Something like that.No it was something about twin and lesbian fantasies
One show comes to mind when I think about how symptoms are found/not found....the patient is tested several various ways and no diagnosis is found/working...House, then, checks her eyes and sees larva "swimming" in her eyeball....one would think that any competent doc would have first checked her eye as part of a normal analysisA patient comes into the hospital with certain symptoms, and doctors know while those symptoms could mean a zillion different things, 90% of the time it's just diagnosis A. Good theory. Kal Penn, old guy and token hot chick (the one the old guy let do the catheterization) seem the only other ones in the running from last nights episode. They were the only other ones with a good chunk of screen time that weren't cut. Not sure how they would work old guy into every episode if he's not really an MD though.Plastic surgeon left me flat. Didn't really care for him either way.Predictions on the three he picks. The blonde tattle tale cheater chick - He saw Chase when with her, same cut throat style. The black guy - Saw Forman when with him, similar in playing against his beliefs. The plastic surgeon - Saw Cameron when with him - the other two with have allready been disqualified. Would probably go with the attractive redhead so they have a female and she seems better but I gotta stick with my "saw one of his old assistants while with the new assistants" theory.
