House of the dragon. Game on! (1 Viewer)

So is the new Targaryen chick a 3 or a 7? I can't decide.

 Last night, my MIL asked me if I thought her face looked weird. I actually think she's pretty cute.
I keep getting these vibes.
Some angles she's cute. Other angles she's got a little person look to her. I'm getting to the age where she doesn't look legal.

(22 to save you the search)

You sure about that? I looked 'er up and I saw she was born in '92.

I liked it.
My only minor complaints are that the king seems like a weeny and that Matt Smith is almost too famous to be on the show. But otherwise, I'm fully onboard.
Never heard of him. Had to look him up.
Same. I knew him from The Crown but didn't know his name. It is a bit distracting but so was Littlefinger in the beginning after his role in The Wire.
Matt Smith can't be any more distracting than having Lena Headey as Cersei, or Sean Bean as Ned Stark. I've never seen Dr. Who but I recognized him from somewhere when Daemon was introduced, but that happens in every show/movie these days.

I didn't even know that guys name. Recognized him from the crown

Was the infected wound on Viserys' back from the Iron Throne too? Like the cuts on his finger?
I guess symbolic of him not deserving it?

some good identifying tidbits on House Hightower here (it talks about episode 1 but no spoilers beyond that):
This won't confuse anyone.

Without spoiling anything, the series’ premiere does a good job of planting the seeds for Alicent’s overall role in the show. While she is currently played by Emily Carey, a mid-season time jump will see Olivia Cooke take over as Alicent. (Similarly, Emma D’Arcy will eventually replace Milly Alcock as Rhaenyra Targaryen.)
Ohhh, I missed that nugget. Must be a time jump?

ETA: Duh, I can't read :lmao:
Lol, it’s even highlighted.

Let's go! Expecting lots of action in Dragonstone tonight and hopefully meeting a few new dragons. I do think this will also be mostly set-up for future episodes, but its possible they will move things along quickly. I don't think anyone really knows what the first season is going to cover, where it will end and how much they need to get in.

Looks like they're gonna be making some BIG time jumps from episode to episode. This one was set 6 months after last week and based on next week's preview we're moving forward at least another year next week (if not closer to 2 years).

Two episodes in I couldn't put my finger in who Otto was but I knew he looked familiar. Just looked it up and it's Lizard. Lol

They are really speeding through the build-up. Ain't nobody got no patience for world-building.

First episode was okay. This one felt more like early GOT. I’m in
Yep, I enjoyed this episode way more than the last one. The last one was just so many people and houses that us book readers were lost and it just didn’t have that pace or coolness like the WW intro in GOT episode 1.

To a certain degree we kind of already know stuff. I think the world building will be minimal because of the scope. No idea if 🦀 guy was in the books but he seems like a McGuffin to get Daemon and Night Court together. Something tells me that Daemon may pull the rug on Night Court.

Not really a surprise. All the trailers showed shots of the adult Rhaenyra actress....so we knew they were going to jump forward very quickly. It will be interesting to watch the pacing. If every episode is "1 year later" (or more) it will just be sort of weird.

Holy ****ing **** that intro was amazing
I liked it but WTF did it mean? I know the GOT map was obvious but I had no idea if I should have gotten what it was or not.

Blood running through the streets of Kings Landing?
It's the Targaryan bloodline. I need to go back and watch it a couple more times but from what I do know, the Targ family tree is riddled with incest so the line diverges and converges and diverges again. There were symbols/sigils along the way, hopefully they'll become more clear as the story goes as to which belongs to who.

Yea, I could not make out the gold things that were flipping around.

Really liked last night's episode. Reminded me of vintage GOT.

For those looking for further understandings of the episodes I've found the Ringer's podcasts to be pretty good.

Yeah, I couldn't follow it at all. Was cool visually.

I still really miss the maps. Would love to have an idea of where the stepstones are.

I thought the time jump last night worked but agreed that it'll be weird if every episode is a time jump.

The Stepstones are a chain of islands between the southern narrow sea and the northwestern Summer Sea. The islands are east of Dorne in Westeros and west of the Disputed Lands in Essos.[1] The Stepstones are notoriously filled with pirate dens.[2]

Great episode last night. Rhaenyra has some balls, that's for sure. How old is she supposed to be at that point in the story?
15
And the potential queen (rejected) is, uh, 12. I think the chosen new queen is ~18?

Obviously Martin has had some input. :lmao:

I thought the chosen Hightower girl is closer to 14 or 15

Maybe just wishful thinking
:homer:
Oh, interesting. She seemed older than the princess to me. But maybe that was wishful thinking on my part?

The actresses are 19 and 22 and the Hightower one is younger IRL. On the show, I agree she’s the one who looks older.

According to dates in the Wiki, Alicent is 17 or 18 when she marries the king.

I'm nervous discussing "spoilers" here that are only evident from the trailers. There's one guy in the marvel topics that didn't even want discussion of the movie poster, which he strives to avoid so as to preserve his virgin experience. I guess the only thing I would say is we knew about the one big time jump that is obvious in the trailers and discussed at length in interviews and articles but as you noted they had a 6 month jump to episode 2 and will jump ahead a year or more in episode 3 so its going to get a bit confusing as to some of the story lines - probably in a good way. I've never really known how much this season 1 is expected to cover but it might be much more than just the battle over the Stepstones.

We just saw the Alicent actress in Slow Horses on Apple - in which she plays an MI5 agent who must be mid-20's at least. Great range I guess.

Couldn't help but feel awkward when Corlys' daughter was telling the Viserys how she'd give him many children. I get that they all marry and start breeding young but the dad-of-a-daughter part of me just cringed bigtime.

Ok still not sure how I don't know. What Kings guard were they replacing? Daemon wasn't in the guard ....

That's her??? Interesting

The scene on the bridge with showdown for the egg and general deviant behavior by brother was excellent.

The guy playing The Hand is great as is the guy from The Crown playing the crazy brother.

Not sure how many episodes we are getting but they are building a nice base here.
