Foster turned a short pass into a 20-yard gain. With time running out, he caught a 15-yard pass and got out of bounds with one second left, setting up a 48-yard field-goal try that Kris Brown missed.
“We’re impressed with what Foster did,” Kubiak said. “He can learn a lot of things, but he handled his job in protection for the most part pretty good, so I think we just get him involved more, give him an opportunity.”
Brown (6-3, 237) is the largest. Foster (6-1, 225) has ideal size. Moats (5-8, 210) has the most problems blocking, which is essential to keeping Schaub upright.
“When Ryan ran, he ran well,” Kubiak said. “Ryan’s struggles are in pass protection. What kept him off the field is he fumbled. I took him off the field.”
Moats, who has his season average up to 4 yards a carry to go with four TDs, lost a fumble in the second half and wasn’t heard from again.
“We’ll continue to work with him,” Kubiak said. “He’s got to protect the ball.”
