Jake has not been the same since Suh turned his head around like the Exorcist."Texans agreed to terms with QB Jake Delhomme."
Probably more to coach than to play. Great guy in the locker room. QB with Super Bowl experience. Should help with the rookie starting.
I think he starts in two weeks at the latest.Jake probably won't see the field unless Yates is a total disaster or gets hurt. So until he is actually going to be the starter,I do not see this helping Andre's value.
One thing I have observed about Kubiak is that he is very loyal to his players and doesn't like to admit he made a mistake. Therefore, unlessYates totally stinks it up against Atlanta and Cincinnati and they lose both games as a result, I have a hard time seeing him go with Delhommein the short term. Both players and coaches have been saying good things about Yates since he was drafted relating to his work ethic and picking up the offense quickly, so I think there is a fair chance that he is an adequate fill in and gets the Texans to the playoffs.I think he starts in two weeks at the latest.Jake probably won't see the field unless Yates is a total disaster or gets hurt. I always liked Jake, but I agree with you. In his hey day, I always called him Favre-lite. They played the same gunslinger style, but Delhomme had half the talent of Favre...which is scary if you are going to play that way.I heard someone on Sirius a day or two ago say that Garcia is in incredible shape...always looked ripped (even for a ginger). But he also played a wild style, so I am not sure whether there was a decent game manager out there. The best would have been Pennington (not for AJ, but the team). I believe he took the year off to rehab, but am not sure what he has or if he could have played now (versus August).Seems like an odd fit. Houston's chances for success are totally dependent on the defense and running game. So they sign a QB with a penchant for throwing tons of int's. They need a Trent Dilfer-like QB, not a QB that can literally lose a game for you with horrible decisions.
I can't see them sitting Yates after only 2 games unless he is Rusty Smith-esque awful. One thing I have observed about Kubiak is that he is very loyal to his players and doesn't like to admit he made a mistake. I'm hoping Delhomme becomes the #2QB. Hard to trust rookies late in the season and they should give Yates time to develop as a third string. Someone like McNabb would do well in this system with a great line providing him protection. Not trying to hi-jack this thread, but now that McNabb's been released by Minny, hmmmmmmmmm. I haven't been big on Donny this year, but a couple things...1) he gets into space and creates, can still get the ball down the field, success for AJ...scary2) with the talent in place on both sides of the ball he could get this team deep into the playoffsjust a couple of thoughts...
