How are people handling Rothlisberger this week? (1 Viewer)

Are people keeping him in lineup?

Is is worth plugging in a guy like Orton just in case?

I don't need to tell you, Orton actually has a solid matchup. If the Lions can move the ball on the Bears, Orton should end up with at least 2 TD's, so it's not a bad option.

I'm debating between Delhomme and Orton, as Delhomme also has a good matchup this week. Rothlesburger hasn't been right all season IMO.

I am considering Frerotte, because New Orleans games are always a shoot out, however Jags are missing 3 key defenders in their secondary. I have a feeling Ben may have his first good one this week.

I drafted BB to by my QB 1. Needless to say, that has turned out disastrous so far. My other options are Trent Edwards v. AZ and Griese v. Broncos. At this point, I am leaning slightly toward BB over Griese. If my league didn't take away points on INT's, I would think strong about going with Griese over the very poorly performing Broncos. My homerism is likely clouding my rational thinking about wanting to start BB. But I think the Steelers, with their decimated running game will try to find a way to open up the passing game. The Jags are without 2 of their starting DB's this week, and they are in the bottom 3rd of the league in pass defense this year. Last week, BB was quoted as saying he would like to move more to the no huddle where he can call some plays. He ripped is O-Line during half time last week v. the Ravens, the Steelers (while they won't say it publicly) will most likely have a little revenge on their minds v. the Jags, so the veteran pride on the Steelers will carry over onto the field this week, resulting in what I think will be a pretty good outing.

The concern will be BB's ability to hold up. His been banged up quite a bit. The Jags are going to rush him hard, try and shut down or weakened running attack and force him to beat them with the pass. So if he can stay healthy, I really expect about 275 yards, 2td's and an int.

Steelers injured RB Willie Parker told television station KCKA in Pittsburgh that the team's game plan is to give the Jags a heavy dose of the no-huddle offense.

The Steelers used a no-huddle look effectively against the Ravens last Monday night, and, if Parker is to believed, offensive coordinator Bruce Arians is sticking with it. Coupled with the Jags secondary injuries, this is shaping up to be more of a passing friendly contest than your usual Steelers/Jags matchup.

Just got this off Rotoworld. Sounds like a good passing day for the Steelers if Big Ben does play. I would have to think they wouldn't go this route with a backup QB in there.

The quesion is, if this guy doesn play, what can Leftwich do back here behind that line?

His parents should have left the "fragile made of glass handle with care" sticker that the doctor put on him at birth.

I was planning on starting him, but have decided to play Orton in his place in one league and Hasselbeck in the other.

I expect MH to make a turnaround, but not this week. At least I think he will be in the whole game, though.

I am playing Griesae over him again this week! It bit me last week. But two weeks ago Griese tripled his production.
I have Big Ben and Griese as my backup. Orton is available in my league. Was thinking of picking him up this morning instead of Griese. As soon as I play Orton, Griese will throw for 400+ and 3TDs. It's just been one of those seasons.

Steelers Beat Writer Concurs With Fantasy Coaches Leaning Towards Roethlisberger

This should be a "pass-first" week for the Steelers offense and Roethlisberger is ready to lead the attack.

Very interesting read. Thanks for posting this. Now I'm more confused on who to start than ever. Jax is 24 against the pass. You would think Jax def would play pass protection on almost every down since Pitt has no running game this week. Will that 24 againt the pass play like a top 10 if they do indeed play pass protection most of the game? Ahh...decisions, decisions.

Ben says he's going to play and the limited practice was according to plan. The main Pittsburgh papers say Ben will play. The late game makes it tough, and I think if you have a top 10-15 option, there's no reason to play Ben just to minimize risk, but otherwise, I'd feel comfortable rolling with him. I would put the chances of him not starting at <10%.

would love to start BB this week - can't afford a zero if he takes one hit and is out - going with JAson Campbell who has been more consistent than Ben anyway...

From the above linked story:
Sure, the Jaguars will come after Roethlisberger, particularly if they know the Steelers are emphasizing the pass. Let them come. There are ways of halting a rush, and Roethlisberger is capable of making those changes. Screens, short slants and draws will slow down the rush.
If that is the game plan, how will that affect Santonio Holmes? Will he get any attention in this scheme, or would it just be the Hines Ward/Heath Miller Show?I have Meachum I could plug in on Monday night, but I'd rather go with the steadier player in Holmes than the home run hitter in Meachum.

I think he'll go, and the JAX secondary is banged up, but his O-Line is still dreadful. I'm starting Delhomme over him, whose matchup is just as good if not better.

From what I hear Holmes has a great 1 on 1 matchup this week compared to Hines who will likely be covered by Mathis. I think the Steelers will want to take advantage of this mismatch, and even if it's a slant or quick hit, he could go the distance or at least rack up the YAC with his matchup.

I'm beginning to think we are going to see our first monster game out of Big Ben. Was planning on Griese in what should be a shootout, but TB may be trying to keep it on the ground and play keepaway from Denver.

BENched for Pennington. :suds:

But, in 2 different leagues, I'm starting Holmes and Ward.

I benched Ben last week and started O'Sullivan. I'll be playing O'Sullivan until Roethlisberger starts outperforming him (which looks like it will not happen this year).

What are peoples thoughts on Holms and Ward given all this info? With the O line in playing poorly and the possiblity that Leftwich will play......I am contemplating whether or not I should start Hines Ward as my flex? and Wondering if Mushin is the better option. Had to sneak that WDIS question in here.

Thanks.
