How 'bout them Reds! (1 Viewer)

Impressive start: 15-7 and either leading by 0.5 game or trailing by one, after Houston plays tonight.

This offense is scary good. Hands down the best in baseball.

Arroyo making the BoSox look quite foolish so far....

Bring on the 'stros, but I wouldn't be surprised if the 'stros take 2 of 3 with the pitching matchups. Not too worried :)

And to think Griffey's been on the DL and Dunn is like 2 for his last 25.

:shuke:Dunn was 3 for 5 today. Makes that 2 for his last 25 pretty difficult.

It was an estimate, going into today's game. Thanks for fact checking.

There arent too many chances I get to say this as a Reds fan, but as of this morning they have the best record in the MLB.

Hard to deny how solid this offense is, coupled with Harang and Arroyo, just wow.

Do I EXPECT it to last? No, I saw what happened to the O's last year. But I truly believe that Bob C. and Co. will bring in help if this team keeps it up thru next month.

That being said, the BP has help in house in Wagner, Medlock, and Guevara!

Check out Guevara's #'s thus far this year in AA:

8 games, 1.46 ERA, 12.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 18 K's  :excited:

Still not sure how this is all happening. What's our team salary this year and how does it compare to the rest of the league?

Just thought I'd throw this in here, since all the Reds fans, I'm guessing, read this.

Here is an interview writeup (and more) that I did with Edwin Encarnacion in 2004, when he was with the Chatanooga Lookouts, as well as William Bergolla and former Reds (current Angels) prospect Dustin Moseley.

It's a thread I started on the best Reds board on the planet, Redszone. Surprised some of you guys haven't found it yet...or have you?

Anyway, enjoy the read, if you wish...it's long, but worth it, imo.Interviews posted here.

"...And this one belongs to the Reds!"

Reds win 3-2 in the 9th on a single by Valentin.

Reds sweep the 2-game set from the Cards, putting their season series mark at 7-1-1.

I don't know how long the Reds can keep this up.

Arroyo has cooled off with the bat lately. When is the last time he hit a HR???

Great game today. It was really good to see Williams turn in an impressive outing against the Cardinals. Granted Pujols was out of the lineup today, but I'm not going to complain about that.

Yeah, don't get too excited about Williams. Guy put 10 runners on base against a AAA lineup at best.

I thought it was interesting that noted microManager Tony LaRussa left Pujols on the bench in a 2-2 game in the 9th with runners on 1st and 2nd and two out while 1B John Gall was allowed to hit. And then pitched to Javier Valentin with one out and runners on second and third in the bottom of the ninth. Way confused on that one.

Really seemed like he was trying to catch a plane.

Pujols had a stiff back, so I'm sure that played a part in his decision.

Heh. Just saw the recap on ESPN and was coming over to edit my post.

I believe he also changed pitchers with two strikes on Kearns late in the game  "Oh wait, he's a righthander!"

As a Tigers fan I can relate to your jubbile. Would love to see the Reds in teh thick of things in September.

PS: Adam Dunn could start hitting a few ####### homeruns if that isn't too much to ask.

Nerve of the guy only going yard in 2 of the last 3 games

You work for stats.com? Impressive pull there.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Nope, just an interested party since I own him in both of my leagues

:kicksrock: I'm eighth of ten in homers.

Well, at the beginning of the season, I predicted the Reds would finish last in the Central. I figure the Pirates would had better pitching, and with the free agent signings, had improved their lineup. I may have to change my pick. If the Reds' pitching holds up, they will stay in the race the whole season. I am still not sold on their pitching staff as of yet, but it looks like they are better than last year. The Reds do have the best lineup in the division, so hitting should definitely not be a problem.

It must be early May - Cincy fans are still paying attention to the Reds...
Reds > Padres
In April
Care to make a wager?
Tap.
Why not.$5 says the Reds are in 3rd place by the 100 game mark.
Um, this is a Reds/Padres bet. Based on your response of "In April" to "Reds > Padres".Better record at end of year.
The Reds are already up on the Padres by 4 games. Spot me 4 games to make'm even right now, and you're on.

:lmao: You're hilarious. By saying "In April", you're insinuating that they'll be better later in the season.

Put up or shut up.

The Padres are built to win next year - they're paying $26MM (over 1/3 of their $65MM payroll) to FA's to be Chan Ho, Klesko, and Woody Williams this season. Once that money is freed up to use on Zito and a big bat, the Padres will be serious NL pennant contenders.Long story short - I'm not being goaded into a dumb bet just for kicks. I went on a limb last year with the Reds bet when the odds were clearly in your favor, and barely lost. The least you could do is spot me the 4 games so we're betting on who will have a better record in the remaing 127 games that both teams will play.

Put up or shut up.
Me? Shut up? You new here?

Awesome game last night, great to have Jr. back in the lineup. Not only did he win it with his bat but he had his glove working too with that diving catch. It was a scary looking play but he showed he can still play center field.

Going down hard tonight w/ Cole Hamels on the mound making his major league debut. I'll be an unhappy camper if this game gets rained out.

Big ups to the Reds for lowering the Phils team ERA by about a run this weekend.

Ryan Howard = STUD
Do they think Howard can't hit left handers still? Just let the kid play and he will be fine. He does not need the protection.
