How come the NFL makes huge changes but MLB doesnt (1 Viewer)

well for the Royals games I do watch, i'd like the average of those games to be 2:28. And I easily watch parts or all of at least 100 of the 162 games, so that's a lot.

But I would love to start watching the playoffs and world series again when they get finished cleaning up the game lengths.

I'd also like for my young son to eventually enjoy watching baseball, but unless it's faster I know he'll gravitate like the other teens towards things that are fast and end quickly like MMA or X-games or crap like that.
You should start watching soccer. Barring a very major injury, the game is done, start-to-finish, in like 1:55. The only time it goes longer is if there's extra time, which means that it's a tie in a very important game (thus you don't mind watching a little more, like OT in playoff hockey) - and even then it'll be ~2:40 tops. Really doesn't get much better in terms of sports appointment-viewing.

I really like the idea of soccer.

I love how they keep their games tidy... sadly at the expense of a result, which seems crappy.

To me solving soccer seems so simple, just make it easier to score so the average game can have like 5-6 goals instead of 2-3... a 20% increase in the size of the goal should take care of this without altering any other rule.

How about goals are worth 6pts and PK goals are worth 3?

As long as the PK goals are moved back a few yards.

While most fans across the world would say you were nuts, the idea is not that bad (ignoring the incredible financial cost world wide).

The goal was not originally sized 130 years ago thinking about 6'5" keepers.

As much as I love baseball, the one thing I want to see changed is the reliever coming out and warming up. What the hell was he doing in the bullpen? He should have to come out and be ready to go. Also, figure out a way to stop managers from using 20 pitchers and batters in the last 2 innings of the game.
Was just about to post this. You don't see a replacement QB getting a couple of extra warmup plays on the field before the real plays start.
I agree with this. I hate when a pitcher comes in to face one batter. Lefty vs lefty type thing.

Pitchers should have to stay in unless they give up a hit (or injury of course). A change can be made next inning.
They should require a reliever brought in during the middle of an inning to face at least 3 batters or until the end of the inning. If they get injured the required number of batters are awarded intentional walks.

Of course the baseball purists would never allow a change like that.
What's the difference between this and someone coming in as a receiver in football for one play? By your logic, the specialty player would have to stay in the whole drive.

Sorry strategy and matchups are lost on you.
Oh, I'm in favor of a rule that says the players that start a series must stay on the field for the entire series. I'm also in favor of a rule banning communications from the coaches during a drive. Let the players play the game. Let the QBs call the plays. One of my biggest problems with US sports is micro-management from the sideline.

Horrible idea. A draw is a legitimate result in league play.

I don't have enough likes left today for this post. When did you start thinking unconventionally?

Hi, I'm Christo. You must be new here.

Its always amusing to see people like cstu so angry about people liking baseball. Why so mad bro?

I mean, I don't really watch that much hockey, but I don't have any vitriol toward it or the people that do enjoy it.
Yeah it's not like it's soccer
Hey now, I never said anything negative about the people who like baseball. There are plenty of otherwise decent folks who enjoy baseball, hockey, and soccer.
