How did the Bucs Cover CJ vs TJ Housh? (1 Viewer)

Once again, TJ had better stats than CJ. How did the Bucs cover CJ vs TJ? I am wondering if opposing defenses now give WR1-type respect to TJ and he's getting those stats despite the WR1 attention, or whether the Bucs still treated CJ as the WR1 which allowed TJ once again to get the better stats.

Was R Barber on TJ/CJ all day or did he switch quite a bit from one to another, so the Bucs planned for the Bengals as if they had a WR1a and a WR1b?

I don't know about the coverages....but I did notice several camera shots at CJ and he seemed very PO'd. He seemed disgruntled when the timing was off between him and Carson, and was getting frustrated after some stalled drives. Now, I know he is just a fiery guy, but something leads me to believe he's not a happy camper right now. Maybe Carson is looking at TJ more, maybe the TB defense was frustrating him, I don't know. I just know he wants the darn ball, you can tell.

ha. i just posted a similar question in another thread. hopefully some homers watched the game and can give some insight. i'm wondering about this as well....

It looked like they had Barber on TJ and the kept Chad covered up with two guys. That will work for one more week.

The Bengals OL is in total disaray. The reshuffled the OL this week and then lost Levi during the game. The line not holding, is what messed up Palmer and CJ timing. They brought in a extra lineman during the game thats how bad the OL was playing.

The Bengals are going to have work on some shorter routes and quicker releases between CJ and Palmer. IF they can get the line fixed, the way the Defense is playing they will be plenty of chances for the 2 to hook up because they will need to score and score big to stay in games.

I didn't get to see the game but usually the Bucs don't scheme for particular wideouts...they really don't seem to care if Barber or Brian Kelly is covering the #1 guy...It's more about where the WR lines up. Barber lines up on the Strong side and Kelly on the Weak...doesn't matter which WR lines up on either side.

Yes, but B Kelly was out yesterday so that's why I was wondering what kind of defense the Bucs had planned for CJ/TJ.

They still run the D pretty much the same. Bo steps in and plays well. They don't play much single-man coverage, so who lines up where on D is more predicated by the formation than where 85 is. Carson seemed to be looking for 85 quite a bit, but the timing is definitely not there.
