How do skydivers (1 Viewer)

I've always wondered what skydiving would be like, but I'm pretty sure even if I worked up the guts to get on the plane, I'd extend every reflexive life-saving tactic that occurred to me to stay on it. How do they get people to jump the first time, anyone know for real?

A good way to do this is to get a guy who has a Blackberry and is skydiving for the first time. When he's scared to jump, take his Blackberry and toss it out the open door.

Trust me, he'll jump.

Just went for the first time 3 weeks ago. It was great. GF almost backed out but she got a push out the door--instructor said "On three!" then, on One, out they went.

A lot of people, like me, go Tandem the first time, harnessed in with an instructor. A friend went solo first, it's a lot more training. Solo there were 2 instructors that went simultaneously, and fell alongside to make sure he knew what he was doing.

I did a tandem my first time and the instructor I was strapped to said it doesn't matter what I say when the door opens because "No" and "Go" sound too much alike.

Last year for my then-girlfriend's birthday I planned a "surprise day" for her...hopped in the car, drove to the site...and as we rolled into the parking lot she looked at me and said "are we going skydiving?"...and then immediately "I shouldn't have eaten that bagel"...

We were both nervous, but when tandem jumping you don't really have any control or a chance to think twice...I expected to be apprehensive, but once the plane took off I was surprisingly calm right up until the moment i touched the ground again...totally worth it, not nearly as scary as you'd think...

I also proposed to Mrs. Code that day and we're now happily married, so skydiving is a very happy memory for us :banned:
