How do you feel about Cutler now? (current info on pg 46) (3 Viewers)

He could even have a shot at a Super Bowl ring someday if his D is stellar and they surround him with good/great talent.
So you're saying he's about as good a QB as trent dilfre?
Nope. Never said that. I'd take Cutler over Dilfer in most situations. But that was a different team in a somewhat different league. Dilfer was good for his team for that year. Fit in perfect. But since you want to make the Dilfer/Cutler comparison - If the Bears D plays stellar and the talent around Cutler is at least good (I think it is) then Cutler should lead them to a Super Bowl, right?

A silly comparison, which I didn't initially make, but there it is.
Dilfer did not fit perfect. Je just got lucky to be at the right place at the right time....
I'll take the players' word and the coaches' as well over yours. Just my preference.

What's that have to do with Cutler leading his team, anyway? Start another thread if you want to argue Dilfer's role on that Super Bowl team.
Of course teammates aren't going to speak negatively about a teammate after the team won the Super Bowl. However, it says something that they decided to replace him the very next year. This is what those Ravens did in the playoffs:

vs Denver: Defense allowed 3 points- means that they needed Dilfer to lead the offense to score at least two FGs or one TD. And the defense intercepted Denver and got the offense the ball at the Denver 39 for one possession.

@ Tennessee: Defense allowed 10 points, defense scored 7 points, special teams scored 7 points- means that they just needed their offense to not allow any defensive scores by the other team.

@ Oakland: Defense allowed 3 points- means that they needed Dilfer to lead the offense to score at least two FGs or one TD. And the defense recovered 1 forced fumbled and intercepted Oakland 4 times, starting their offense with 5 possessions: at the Oakland 6, at the Oakland 19, at the Oakland 20, at midfield, and at their own 17.

Super Bowl vs New York: Defense allowed 0 points, defense scored 7 points, special teams allowed 7 points, special teams scored 7 points- means that they just needed their offense to not allow any defensive scores by the other team.

When did this become a Trent Dilfer thread? What's a Dilfer, anyway?

Please get back to discussing Smokin' Jay Cutler, and specifically when the wheels will next fall off the o line. There's another 6 or 8 sack game coming, I just feel it. Anyone else feel that way?

Today, Jay...

Tied Roger Staubach on the NFL all time completions list.

Broke 20,000 passing yards on the career.

Moved into second place on the Bears all-time completions list.

Won his 11th game in his last 12 starts.

Hey, well..I started him today over Freeman. That was fun. I'm pretty sure Jamarcus Russell could put up 20 points on TEN.

That's pretty impressive for an overrated Prima Donna with fancy hair.

This Sunday will be telling. Will he step up and make adjustments to deal with his outmatched Oline, or will he just crumble and get sacked 15 times as his team gets blown out, then say it is what it is in every post game interview?

It's nice when you can grab some pine when the going gets tough. ####ler strikes again, love it.

Still sucks.
What? He took an illegal hit and couldn't return to the game? All I see is a Quarterback that is 14 - 5 in his last 19 starts and as a Bears fan, I am more than happy with that.
I'm not a total a-hole. I posted that before he got hurt.
Haha, carry-on.
Cutler seems to be feast or famine, do you really trust him in a big spot come playoff time?
The guy has brought us to an NFC Championship (which we unfortunately lost because he got injured). I have no questions of his ability to bring us to the promise land.

Was that the injury where he ended up shopping the next day in LA with his little reality girl? I think it was his knee, right? When he just mailed it in because he knew the team was overmatched (like last night)? What a gamer. Playoffs too. Went and got his blanky.

Having a Grade 2 MCL tear limits the ability to cut or pivot rendering any QB in that situation useless. Walking after such an injury isn't the epic feat you're making it out to be though.

You lost because he got injurred?Umm...were you watching that game...they were getting beat (and he was getting beat up and throwing poor passes, as he does against GB) before he got hurt.

It was a one score game, you really believe a healthy Cutler could not have made a difference in this game? Campbell was just awful and this game was never out of hand.

Cutler threw for 40 yards w/2 picks when healthy......Campbell outplayed Cutler.

Maybe just a little. Cutler was truly awful in his one half of football though. QB ratingCutler: 16.7Campbell: 70.9Schaub wasn't much better: 42.9

Cutler is what he is. A big baby who will have 2 or 3 big games every year and then lead the team nowhere.

The guy made no effort to go back in (in the playoffs :lmao: ); he just wanted to know where his jacket and phone were so he could call Kristen. HTH.

Could he have made a difference?Sure...though, I was talking about the NFC title game that the poster stated they lost because Cutler got hurt.Even saying they lost last night because Cutler got hurt is a bogus exxuse.

Does anyone know who has the best quarterback rating in the 4th quarter in the NFL this year?Jay Cutler at 135.0

He trails only Peyton Manning in 2nd half QB rating as well. Chicago was down 7 points when Cutler went out. Not saying Jay would have led them to a win, but dismissing Cutler's absence as a bogus excuse is pretty weak.

I think saying they lost because of his injury is a bogus excuse. Its fine to think he "could" have made a difference. To assume he was the difference in a W or an L is a bogus excuse given how he had played.

And his 4th quarter rating in different conditions against different teams is pretty irrelevant to what he may have done against Houston last night.

Stats - you're arguing with a Packer fan. Spit out the hook and stop trying to use logic and actual facts.

Bears fans logic is funny...do you really think that his rating in those other games...that included the stat padding last week...have any relevance in that game last night?

Not fishing...unlike some here...if I post something, I mean it.Not trying to get you to react...just to explain how what Cutler did in the 4th quarter against Detroit has anything to do with how he may have fared last night in the rain and wind against Houston. And instead of answers...I get excuses claiming I must just be fishing.Pretty typical.

Ooh, selective statistics, fun!Does anyone know who's 4th qtr QB ratings came from playing teams with losing records?

INDY

STL

DAL

JAX

TEN

DET

CAR

The only team he's "beat" with a winning record was Indy. And that was at home in Luck's first game as a pro. Yippee! Comparing him to Peyton... :lmao:

The two good teams he played, he lost. And quit, again.

:sigh: The first half of last nights game - just like the various first halfs in other games for Cutler this season (where he also had bad numbers) - is in no way and indication that he would be bad in the 2nd half. In fact, the pattern of bad early, than good late, has become pretty common for Cutler - throughout his career - not just as a Bear. To suggest that a team's starting QB has no bearing on the outcome of the game if had to leave at half time is silly - and you know it. Regardless as to how bad he had been in the first half, Cutler and the offense as a whole (and the defense as well - look at the first half Texan stats compared to the 2nd half) - has shown a propensity to make good half time adjustments and the ability to move the ball more effectively in the 2nd half of games. And Bear fans aren't the only ones to suggest that it would made a difference.
