How do you find the IDP sleepers? (1 Viewer)

Wondering if there is anyone that has any idea where the IDP scorers are in the various defensive alignments.

Guess the only alignments that I know are the...

4-3

3-4

and

tampa two.

What are generally the biggest fantasy producers in these alignments or is it simply the talend of the individual players?

Also, looking at the team depth charts I've noticed some teams have MLB's while others have ILB's they all seem to have OLB's ??

This is the first year that I've been in a league that uses numerous IDP's each and every week.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The pinned FAQ thread has a number of excellent threads with multiple posts that should help you with these questions and some related others. The depth charts list MLB for 4-3 defenses (SLB/MLB/WLB sometimes LOLB/MLB/ROLB) and ILB for 3-4 defenses (OLB/ILB/ILB/OLB).

Feel free to bump the threads in the FAQ or reply here if you have other questions. Most of the posts in the FAQ have general discussions; if you have specific questions about a given team's scheme (Chicago's Tampa-2, Jacksonville's 4-3, Patriots hybrid 3-4) we'll tackle those wherever and whenever.

In dynasty leagues I believe that opportunity is the key. Keep a note of highly drafted players who don't step into starting jobs and wath'em blossom down the line (i.e. Keith Bulluck)

:goodposting: I feel Umenyiora is a pretty good example of this IMO. He didn't have to wait as long but could have been a FA in some leagues two years ago. A second rounder who has one sack as a rookie doesn't really stand out to a lot of people.

Bramel has nice info, but Norton's EOTG has been fantasy gold for years.

some other good advice here like looking at highly drafted players and watching them or rostering them for the future if you have room.

depends on your scoring system and whether you want consistency or big plays for what positions do best. mlb on weak teams have great opportunity for tackles; outside blitzing lbs on teams that are ahead late have lots of chances for sacks.

Derrick Burgess was another good example as a third rounder. Some others that fit this bill;Darryl Blackstock and Gerald HayesDeWayne WhiteJordan BeckKalimba Edwards (perennial)Teddy Lehman (he'll be healthy at some point, I think)Barrett RuudKevin BurnettMatt WilhelmAntwan OdomJason BabinCaleb MillerDan CodyAnthony SchlegelAnd then there are guys like Rocky McIntosh, Anthony Smith, Eric Smith, Bernard Pollard, Danieal Manning and Abdul Hodge who, while they may be hot issues right now, they could fall through the cracks without a lot of playing time this year. It's so hard to designate sleepers these days with so much info available on the net.

For years EOTG and Norton have pointed me in the direction of some guys that might be on the verge. In the past few I've been able to pick up on some of those guys myself but when Norton speaks highly of someone and thinks they may be pushing for starting in a couple weeks then I pay attention. If I have room I'll bite. I hit more then miss. Great examples for me recently have been Lofa, Will Smith, Osi and others. I picked up Osi 2 weeks before he exploded a couple years back. I had guys making fun of me in my league "who in the heck is that guy? why did you waste $5 on him?". They weren't laughing when the guy was posting 2-3 sacks a game on their butt on my way to a championship.

Anyway, EOTG alone is worth the price of admission and then some for any serious IPD league owner. Add to that the other fantastic articles on IDP that are posted on FBG's you just can't beat it.

Gang's all here for the most part. Fantasy Insights to RedEye to FBG. I think the RedEye message board was you, me, and a couple of other diehards. Old school, baby.

Thanks for all the props guys. Its great to be appreciated

One of my favorite stories is from back in the Red Eye days. I had a guy send me an email ripping me and wanting his money back because I had Andra Davis projected as a top 20 LB while all the depth charts had Barry Gardner listed as the starter. "I paid money for this? and you don't even know who the starting MLB for the Browns is! I want my money back!!" So we refunded his money and removed him from the data base. About 2 weeks into the regular season he signed up again haha...

I like to look at every guy who takes over a job with little fanfare late in pre-season or to start the season, especially when there's been a revolving door during the preseason for starters and/or the offense is bad.

Roman Harper had fanfare here, but lots of places are behind the IDP curve, and you can snag guys even in leagues where a lot of the players are from FBG. My main dynasty league with IDP I found through here, and I regularly can get the guys off waivers first.

I also like drafting IDP's with late draft picks, particularly rookie DB's in interesting situations, but also LB's that way as well. I haven't had a lot of luck with DL that way, but they take longer to pay off.
