I learned and played in Rochester. Maybe its a western NY thing. Like the word "pop". My in-laws are nearer to Buffalo and they scored 2/3 too.My parents were always 6/4 players so I learned from them. Most of my friends are 2/3 players. Both of my parents are from Tonawanda, maybe it's a Tonawanda thing?
Totally agree. 6-4???? Madness. Let me guess, you I bet u 6-4 weirdos never heard of stealing the dealYou 6/4 card users are weirdos!
The key to 2/3 is to see the "V" as roman numeral V...
Haven't played euchre since college. Used to play nearly every weekend. Good times.
It's just fun. Come on, you don't think it's fun scoring with roman numerals? Besides, I simply never heard of scoring with anything other than 2-3 same suit.I could understand using 2 & 3 if those were the only cards available. But since there is a half deck of various cards which have several combo pairs which add up to ten, just use them. What could possibly drive someone to cone up with such a convoluted method to display a simple score? Do they really think that makes them smarter or sonething?
Fun? You just want to look at a scoreboard and see the score. No reason to add a layer of encryption. It's just fun. Come on, you don't think it's fun scoring with roman numerals? Besides, I simply never heard of scoring with anything other than 2-3 same suit.
Hey, if you are too over-served to see the score, is that my problem? More winning for me!Fun? You just want to look at a scoreboard and see the score. No reason to add a layer of encryption.
Thanks but it would have been nice to warn us we need to sign up first. Lost my answers, and never going to get that 10 minutes of my life back...Think you're good at Euchre? Take this quiz.
Sorry. I took it several years ago and didn’t remember that part. Even without scoring it, the quiz leads you to think about strategies and options that are well above that of a typical player. It lead me to read up on the game and become a better player. Thanks but it would have been nice to warn us we need to sign up first. Agreed. Simplicity is pretty much the whole point with Euchre.I could understand using 2 & 3 if those were the only cards available. But since there is a half deck of various cards which have several combo pairs which add up to ten, just use them. What could possibly drive someone to cone up with such a convoluted method to display a simple score? Do they really think that makes them smarter or sonething?
We did too. 7/8 iirc.6/4. But we also started playing to 15 at some point, 'cause drunk guys.
Euchre has to be played fast, drunk with trash-talking. The moment someone tries to start analyzing hands, making it more complicated than it is, or using 2/3 to score, the game loses all appeal.Agreed. Simplicity is pretty much the whole point with Euchre.
6/4. But we also started playing to 15 at some point, 'cause drunk guys.
That was more for 6 handed for us.We did too. 7/8 iirc.
What's next, no trying to distract your adversaries so your partner can steal the deal? Euchre was intended to play when your attitude is adjusted, one way or another. We did everything we could to live up to that high standard, including fun with score keeping. That, and that's how I learned to keep score and never, ever heard of doing it any other way....Fun? You just want to look at a scoreboard and see the score. No reason to add a layer of encryption.
Woah. Euchre swinger parties? No thanks. You must be one of those "NY/Canada/North" respondents. Is there anything worse that having your wife as your euchre partner??? amirite or amirite???
We do euchre parties in the Winter.. A different couple hosts each time.. booze, food, gambling.. You throw $20 a couple into the pot, you have to bring a "partner" so there are even numbers, doesn't have to be your wife.. You then draw cards for your playing partner for the first game. You go around the table with the deal twice and write down your score after the second time around.. You could have 0.. you could have 20.. there is no limit, just a score after twice around. We do this for 10 rounds, drawing a different partner for each game.. At the end of the night, we pay out for the three top scores.. Also do some 50/50 drawings during the night..
Each time we draw, I pray to the euchre gods, I don't draw my wife...
I love having my wife as my partner. She knows how to play and knows how I play so she leads me and vis-versaIs there anything worse that having your wife as your euchre partner??? amirite or amirite???

Learned from my dad who grew up in Irondequoit. Played a ton while working at Kodak for 7 years.IrishTwinkie said:I learned and played in Rochester. Maybe its a western NY thing. Like the word "pop". My in-laws are nearer to Buffalo and they scored 2/3 too.
Y'all making out scoring with 2/3 like its some sort of higher math function akin to linear algebra are funny. Rotating a card 90 degrees really isn't that hard.
Lucky you..Foosball God said:I love having my wife as my partner. She knows how to play and knows how I play so she leads me and vis-versa
Definitely an Ohio thing.I've never heard of this game and I'm from the Midwest. Is it only played up north in Michigan/Minnesota area?
