How does the NFL decide..... (1 Viewer)

The Juggernaut

The Man. The Myth
The guys they have there are usually the expected top picks, and there's always at least one guy that has to sit there by himself for longer than expected. But how do they decide who to invite? Kiper's advice? The guy with the pimpiest suit? The guy with the ugliest mom?

Another question about these guys. Who's this year's "by-himself guy" ?

My pick : Vince Young

I am not too worried about who decides, as long as there is one player who the cameras can zoom in on as picks keep going by.....

Seems like a pretty easy invite this year

Leinert

Bush

Williams

Young

D'Brick
There are typically more than 5 though right? And, I think you are a little thin on the defensive side. How about Hawk for instance?Back to the original question, I have no idea who decides or how. Anyone?

But who decides? And couldn't you make a case for guys like Cutler? I've seen him mentioned in the top 10.
I'm not positive, but I thought it was the PR department. You have your few guys that you know will be top 10 picks, and every year someone slides a bit for whatever reason. I thought I heard last year that they were going to reduce the amount of players that were going to be invited.

Why does somebody have to make a decision? I would think any player that wanted to attend could. I think most don't because they don't want to look silly sitting by themselves when the second round rolls around.

Because only so many people are allowed in the draft room. If any player that declared for the draft could come, why would you want to have the 3rd string OLineman from UNLV on TV???You put Bush, Linehart, Young up on TV play it up to increase ratings, then you can sell advertising slots to companies.

Why would a 3rd string OLineman from UNLV want to go to the draft and wait around until the seventh round to be picked?

Heck, if I could ever figure out the process to declare myself eligible for the draft, I would attend and sit in the green room.....if they allow anyone who has declared......That's why I'm thinking there must be some sort of invitation to sit in that room or something.

You have to be invited. That is what I'm saying. It is all marketing and PR. I don't know who exactly makes the decision as to who comes, but reason would suggest that it would be someone in the marketing/PR department.
