Exactly. I can't believe how many people think Duckett is a goalline beast, ready to take away all of these carries and TDs. Duckett carried on the goalline in ATL because Dunn couldn't handle the big load. In 2005, Duckett scored TDs in 8 games, 6 of which he had 10+ carries. That says to me that Duckett was used a lot more than just goalline. In 2004, Duckett scored 4 of his 8 TDs in one game, and had 10+ carries in all games he scored a TD except one. Dunn's career high for carries is 280.Portis, on the other hand, has scored 11+ TDs in 3 of 4 years. 273 is his career LOW for carries. Portis is MUCH BETTER THAN DUNN, and it's silly to think that Duckett now eats into Portis' workload if Portis is healthy enough to handle it.The injury is one concern, but Duckett doesn't scare me at all.Dunn has managed to put up 1400/9 and 1640/4 the last 2 years with both Duckett and Vick (who took away 9 rushing TDs in the 2 years) to vulture. Portis is a better RB and Wash has a better scheme IMO. Dispite what many Portis bashers would love for us to believe there has still been no indication that he will miss ANY games. If there is, I'll adjust again.
You said you don't gamble with your first- and second-round picks, correct? So tell me how Jones isn't a gamble? One could argue his durability issues are even worse than Portis' because, unlike Portis, Jones has yet to prove he can play a full NFL season. I can appreciate the reluctance to take Portis given his current situation but to say you won't gamble in the first two rounds and then take a guy in the second who, in my opinion, is a pretty huge gamble doesn't seem to jibe.Shaun Alexander and Kevin JonesSo, who did you take in the first two rounds?I don't gamble a #1 or #2 on that kind of a question.
We evidenlty see things differently.I see a healthy starter in a Mike Martz offensive scheme with no positional competition. You said you don't gamble with your first- and second-round picks, correct? I am thinking the same thing. I have 1.05 tonight and am torn between Portis and Ronnie Brown. The skins O looked horrid yesterday w/o Portis in there. I just dont see them keeping him off the field just for ####s and giggles. If he is healthy his role doesnt change IMO.Thoughts?I am picking 5th tomorrow in a 12 teamer. He will not make it past me.
Sellers and Cooley had around 15TD's combinedI've mentioned this in a few threads already but..Those of you drafting late in the draft should be taking Portis. You do NOT want him slipping to the LT/LJ/SA/Tiki owners. If Portis turns out to be okay, the year is over if he slides those owners. The Duckett trade shouldn't scare anyone. Look what Sellars and company did last year. Got around 10 TDs I believe.
Trade details please!I just traded for Clinton Portis, and was surprised the owner was the one that suggested it. I been on vacation all week, and figured I better see what was really going on with him to get such an offer. This thread helped in my decision making to pull the trigger (and why I love the Shark Pool). I think current owners are leary of the injury. Those that don't own him figure they can get him cheaper. Here is to hoping for a speedy recovery!![]()
I remember back in 2003 when Vick was injured in the preseason. It was known he'd be out at least 6-8 weeks, but was STILL being drafted as a top 50 player.dreadlocks said:and I love all those people who are in total denial.rascal said:I love all this overreaction on him. I'll be happy to take him in early round 2.
It is a small five player keeper league (eight teams - family/friends), so I didn't post it originally. I had TO on my team, and was looking to move him. Pretty much the trade was TO for Portis. The other team owner wanted TO since going to Dallas, and I really wanted to upgrade at RB. He threw in another player he can't keep, and that I am now going to try an trade in a package deal to another owner.Trade details please!I just traded for Clinton Portis, and was surprised the owner was the one that suggested it. This site is doing its subscribers a disservice. No way is Portis 46. He could miss the first 5 games and finish higher than that. He could score 1 TD all season long and finish higher than that. I don't get that ranking at all, when I heard it the night of the Duckett signing I assumed it was a joke. Makes me glad I didn't subscribe this year, makes me happy that a lot of my competitors in various FBG based leagues do drink the kool-aid.cosjobs said:FWIW, this site has KJ listed 17th and CP 46th, respectively in my league's (ppr) format.packersfan said:You said you don't gamble with your first- and second-round picks, correct?
