What Parcells does best is rebuild failing football teams (NYG, NE, NYJ, DAL). The fact that he is doing it again with Miami shouldn't be all that shocking.
The key is knowing what pieces to add and which to remove and having stones to do it. Parcells did this. He didn't bow to the pressure to bring in a bunch of fancy position players. He adressed the core units.
In consecutive weeks, Miami has beaten the two teams who competed in the AFC Championship game last year. GET OUTTA HERE!!!! ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDIN' ME? NO WAY!!!!
(I don't care what the reason is... just let me bask in the moment for a little longer.)
Even assuming they had average luck in those games and went 3-3 instead of 0-6... that still only puts them at 4-12. To put it simply, they WERE that bad last year.
I think a really big part of turning a bad team around is just instilling the right attitude in the team and the locker room. Parcells does that. Even though Parcells is not the head coach, I am certain the team is run with the discipline and work ethic that he would run it.
