How good of pro will Mike Hart be? (1 Viewer)

How would he stack up to recent classes?

I see him as a very average talent when you look at him through the NFL lens. He would, however, be an excellent fit in a zone blocking scheme. He's very productive because of his vision and instincts to run to daylight, but he doesn't have a great burst or speed, and he also lacks great size/strength/tackle breaking ability/power. In other words, he's not a home run threat, and he's not a bruiser/workhorse. He is good at the "little" things that will keep an RB on the field , receiving, blocking, ball security. I think you'll see him be one of the first 3 or 4 senior RBs taken, but no way he goes ahead of Slaton or McFadden (assuming they come out), and I also see a few other Juniors who would rank ahead of any Senior RB (at least as of today).

As a huge PSU fan, I see Hart a lot and like him. But I thought Atrain was the man, and same with Perry. I believe Michigan is a system and a team would need to have a similiar system in order to get the best out of Hart. By the way PSU stuffed his butt last year at the Valley!!!!

The difference is his ability to break tackles and his leadership skills. I disagree with Bloom having seen him a lot here in Michigan country. He doesn't have great size, but if you go back and watch film, he rarely goes down on first contact. He reminds me a lot of Priest Holmes and his running style. I think he could be a 2nd round pick to a zone blocking team as previously mentioned.

I was being a bit harsh - he's got great tackle breaking ability for a guy his size, but it's more Tiki Barber than Brandon Jacobs. Hart can absorb contact and grind for extra yards based on determination and balance, but I don't see his tackle breaking ability being generated mainly by power or leg drive. 2nd/3rd round pick sounds about right to me too, so we're not that far apart, I just see him as an overachiever who will come down a notch or two when the play gets faster and the hitting gets harder.

I'm a Michigan guy . . . I remember Ron Johnson et al.

Mike is a joy to watch, but I do not see him as anything more than a average #2 RB on an NFL team. He reminds me of a mix of MJD and TJones (sounds nice, but it isn't). I'd like to see DEN draft him in round three next year, otherwise I won't expect much NFL-wise.

And like has been mentioned, ATrain and CPerry were better backs. I expected them to perform at the next level.... didn't/ain't gonna happen.
