How many of you will still pick CJ at 1.02 if he's drafted by Oak? (1 Viewer)

The best pick I have this year is 1.4, so this doesn't apply to me. However, with all the Moss trade talks and the Raiders drafting Calvin Johnson, freak or not, it would have to be disheartening to the 1.02 dynasty owners to see CJ go to the Raiders. I just don't see that team having a decent QB for awhile if they don't take one with the first pick. Aaron Rodgers sure doesn't fit the bill if the Moss trade goes down. At least to me he's looked terrible when I've watched him, but it is a small sample size.

I'm taking him 1.01 regardless of who takes him, but then I loaded up for this draft and have 3 of the top 10 picks. CJ + a RB is better than Peterson + a WR. I saw this draft as having a boatload of players 2 years ago and started loading up then. Shipped out 'Clown Shoes' Porter in 2005...that is getting me CJ...

As opposed to the QBs that would have been heaving the rock to him in such places like Cleveland or Tampa (pre-Garcia, since all mocks had him no lower than 1.04 and FF community was still high on CJ at 1.02).

I used to only draft players based solely on talent, with the thought that the cream always rises to the top regardless of their situation. Of course that doesn't always translate to victories right away either. I think that applies more to RBs than WRs, since WRs depend so much on the QB. I guess it depends on what kind of team you have. Not everyone picking at 1.1 or 1.2 got there because they have a bad team. Some get lucky with trades.

I have the 1.03 pick in HyperActive this season and think that might be one of the best spots to be in this year. I'd be happy with either Lynch or Calvin Johnson.

Exactly. Just remember, you have never, ever seen him start a game. That's a big difference than coming in already three touchdowns down in the second half, when there is NO chance of using the running game, play action, ect.I am not in any way saying Rodgers is 'The Answer' for any team. I'm just pointing out he is a big unknown.

I've been inching my way closer to the top 4....

I was the SB Loser last yr; which placed me at 1.11.

Traded away my 1st RD & TO (decided to Keep Reggie Brown over TO since reggie was a whole lot cheaper) for 1.06.

So far; I have 3 picks in the 1st 24.. 1.06, 2.03 & 2.11. I think this is as close as I'm going to get.

I'd rather see him in Oakland than Cleveland or Tampa. Tampa has always been a graveyard for wr's and Cleveland isn't much better. I'm probably taking CJ at 1.01 in a rookie draft after trading up to the spot. I have rb depth and could use a stud wr. I know rb is supposedly the more valued position but I'm having trouble for passing on CJ for a guy with injury concerns in Peterson. No player is a can't miss so there is risk in either one.

With the 1.02 I still have no idea if I'll be taking Lynch or Johnson, it pretty much varies from week to week. Lol. I don't think CJ going to OAK would alter my decision any more than if he ended up in CLE or TB though.

This thread looks promising though, if I can end up getting Peterson at 1.02 I will be a very happy man!!

I have rule to never have any raider players on my FF team. I've been raider free since Tyrone Wheatley in 2000 (and having him on my team that year made me feel dirty).

I do not have a top dynasty pick, but if CJ were to go to oakland I would not consider moving up to draft him.

With the 1.02 pick AND owning Aaron Rodgers, I am an owner in a quandary. Just need to wait and see what actually happens as all these "what if" scenarios will drive you crazy ... Oh and I am also a Raiders fan, not that that means much ...

:goodposting:I traded the 1.01 away, but I wasn't sure if I was going to take AD or CJ with the pick.I have the 1.02 in my other league, and would be very pleased with either. However, if Lynch hits Buffalo, Houston, or a couple other spots, I'll be tempted to go with him. I probably won't, as I need WR more than RB, but it would be a tough decision.

I do not play in a dynasty but I play in a keeper league where we can keep one player per position. Stud WRs are hard to find as there is a big dropoff after the top 3-4. Its hard to find a Harrison, Holt, TO (and formerly a Moss) type WR. The type of WR that EVERYONE would want. Top prospects come out every year but not many pan out to be true STUDS and not just one year wonders. Andre Johnson, Fitz, Boldin Roy Williams etc. are solid receivers that were projected to be studs. Either because of the system or because of erratic QB play or whatever reason, these players have not become the true studs that people expected.

I am looking to invest in a future keeper and was hoping that CJ could be that guy. He certanly has the tools to be a stud, but the question is whether the team and QB he ends up with will put him in a position to become a stud. If OAK picks him, how many years before he would start putting up stud-like numbers. I doubt immediately. How about DET? How long would it takwe there? Would R. William's presence be any factor?

The biggest question for me right now is which team would be the best situation for him (from the teams that can realistically select him)?

Unless my dynasty team was WR starved, I would be tempted to go with Lynch at 1.02 if Oak drafts CJ.

In some ways I actually feel like OAK would be a good situation for Calvin Johnson. If he went to TB for example, Gruden hardly ever throws the ball deep so some of Johnson's best skills - deep speed and leaping ability - would be underutilized. In Oakland the QB situation isn't ideal, but it won't be bad forever, and if we can judge Kiffin on his work at USC, I think he can do some things favorable for a WR like Johnson.

This is all just a ploy to motivate Al Davis.

I don't think this is a major issue even if it means a year or two of mediocrity. Is Detroit, Tampa, or Cleveland really in any better shape at QB and/or competition for looks.

Keeper, non-PPR.

I have plenty of ammo to trade into a top 3 rookie pick (and I intend to).

I need RB moreso than WR, but Johnson is so, so flawless.

I've been so interested in only two WR prospects before - Moss and Fitzgerald. Good mojo there.

Yes, I'd happily take Johnson at 2 after Peterson, regardless of who drafts him.

To me, 1st overall is still a coinflip between them.
