We've always given 6 points for all TD's (passing, rushing, receiving, kick return, fumble recovery etc.) and I doubt we'll ever change it but was wondering what the norm was..

I know many leagues give 4 points which seems like a completely arbitrary number, I could really see the argument for three points :football:

I'm in an ancient league that awards 6 points for rushing TDs, and 3 points for passing and receiving TDs, because one year someone owned Steve Young and Jerry Rice and everyone #####ed that he was getting "double credit" for all their TDs. Not the brightest bunch of dudes. But it's been that way for years.

All TDs = 6. TDs 40 yards or longer = 10.

ETA: Defensive scores = 6, regardless of length.

Love it ... now that kicks the snot outta 'vanila', and introduces tons of excitement and agita with it's variance.
Tell me about it. Imagine being down huge going into Monday night with Favre/Jennings and Favre heaves up the OT double point 80 yarder to Jennings for the win on the 1st play. I #### my pants coming outta the chair.

I took that scoring out of Fantasy Index when we were first setting up the league. Made a hybrid league. All defensive/st TD's are 6 points but we do get a 4 point bonus for kick/punt return td.QB's are obviously the higher scorers but to me it makes things fun. Plus we give bonuses for 100+ rush, 100 rec, 300 passing. We have made small tweaks, like adding negatives, and lowering kicker scoring but overall everyone really enjoys the format. No lead is really ever "safe"

3 passing, 6 receiving/rushing with both being doubled if over 50 yards.

Start 2 QB league. Giving 6 points per passing TD would make QBs waaaay to valuable compared to other players.

4 points for passing TDs. -2 for INTs. in one league. In my other league it is 6 points passing TDs. -3 every INT.In the 6 point passing TD league the QBs get drafted higher.

(not exactly what was asked for, but I got to writing it down)

6 for the most part on all my leagues, even the defenses plus bonus.

(but QB yards are .06 pt per pass yard verse .12 for RB/WR rush/rec)

Yardage bonus for QB at 300 and 400+, rec/rb 100 and 200+ (each 1 is 3 points)

-2 for interceptions and fumbles by QB/RB/WR.. (plus 2 for defense getting them)

So Defense then would get points for the fumble or interception as well so 8 points.

(kick/Punt return TD we just give 8 points straight up for them regardless of yardage)

(defense get punt return yardage/sacks/3 an out/4th down stops/total points/yardage)

Minus points for giving up big yardage or big scores or giving up the return TD as well.

Safeties for Defenses are 4 points, as are 2pt conversions for Anyone involved in them.

We also have 2 point bonus increments for long passing/catching/running Td's as well.

(bonus at 40 yards and bonus at +50 (so a +50 TD would get 4 bonus points total there)

Kickers are 3/5/7 (39+yd/50+yd) plus 1 point for every kick made an then 1 for extra points.

(yah we try to make kickers somewhat relevant, an defense can score as much as QB's do)

Kick returners get .1 pt per yard, and in PPR(half of mine are) there between .5 to 1 ppr there.

That sounds fun. If it were me I'd probably increase the passing bonus yardage to 350 or 400 just to keep up with today's NFL. But yeah, I like the sound of that league.

I think the idea behind 4pts for passing TDs is that it strikes a balance between making the QB position as a whole extremely valuable (like with 6pts passing) and making the running QBs extremely valuable compared to pocket passers (like with 3pts for passing vs. 6 for rushing).

Yeah, this has been debated, we've had this scoring for so long, that sometimes you are afraid of "wrecking" it. We did switch to decimal this year!
